I can only speak to our experience sitting at the bar since we were not seated in the dining room. We stopped in on a Sunday afternoon and were able to grab two seats at the bar without any problem. The service was very good, although it was clear the bartender was extremely busy handling both the bar area and the outdoor seating. They could definitely benefit from a second bartender, as drink service was a little slow at times. That being said, the drinks were absolutely worth the wait. I had the Blueberry Habanero Margarita, which was tart, refreshing, and delicious. My husband started with a frozen margarita that he really enjoyed and later switched to a draft Modelo. For food, he ordered the pozole and I had the jumbo shrimp fajitas. Everything was exceptional. The ingredients tasted incredibly fresh, the dishes were well prepared, and the portions were generous enough that we left completely satisfied. What really excites us about this place is that it feels much more traditional Mexican than Tex Mex, which is much harder to find in this area. The food, drinks, and atmosphere all made a great impression on us, and we are so glad we discovered this spot. We will definitely be back! read more

Hello Rockwall! We were on this side of town for a soccer game so stopped by this gem for dinner. We were able to get seated in their covered patio right away. My husband appreciated being sat right in front of the tv playing the football game. Our server Destiny was amazing! She was friendly and even gave my daughter a star sticker to match hers. Destiny made sure we were well taken care of all night. She made sure we had refills and would come and check on us every so often. We ordered the Ceviche as our appetizer and it was Chefs kiss! I loved the nice kick the Jalapeño gave it and the shrimp and tomato were flavorful. For my meal I had the Carne asada which came with rice and charro beans. The steak was cooked to perfection, while still being flavorful and the charro beans and rice were on point. The ambiance can be for date night and family dinners. Good place for kids too. Los Compadres your alcoholic beverages are good, however, your food is not good enough to ever have poor service. Not ever.... The food was mediocre at best. I ordered several items to try and I was not impressed. My normal order here is the spinach enchiladas, but today I made the mistake of ordering something different. My normal enchiladas aren't the best I've ever had, but atleast I can eat them without feeling like I wasted money. I haven't been in a while and decided to go during happy hour time frame. For happy hour they have 2 drinks: pre-made original margarita (frozen or on the rocks) and they have s margarita mixed with sangria. The margarita is better than the food by leaps and bounds. They do not have a food happy hour menu. Happy hour is 3-6p Our waiters name was Rudy and although we left a tip over 20%, it was not deserved. I was so underwhelmed with his whole demeanor. Maybe he was having an off day but we don't get discounts when waiters have off days so that means Rudy should be on his best behavior at work and he definitely wasn't. It was my daughters first time in and I had to work overtime to make sure her experience wasn't ruined. I actually wanted the girl delivering chips to be our waitress, she had a much better attitude and gave great service!! Now to the meal... please review the pics I've attached and know that there was NOTHING that we ordered that deserved a rating over mediocre. It was all just average at BEST. I travel all over DFW and I love Mexican food! I can skip paying $150 for subpar flavor. Hostess was rude. Wanted to seat us at a table which I can only describe as in the isle. We asked about several booth areas and was told "we are saving this for a potential 6 too". There was not a 6 too even waiting. In any event, in a place like Roanoke we just walked down to Los Molcajetes and had a superior experience. Holy Taco!! Had the taco salad today and for a minute thought about just eating it like a normal taco! Wouldn't have worked as the taco shell was deliciously soft and likely wouldn't have held together. Different take on taco salad but great flavors, much better than the 'average.' I stopped in around 4:15 PM on a Friday to check out their happy hour and grab a bite at the bar. The bartender mentioned $8 house margaritas, either frozen or on the rocks. I decided to keep it simple with one on the rocks and asked for easy ice. It arrived completely full of ice, strike one. After bringing the drink, she asked if I wanted another, so I told her I'd like to see a menu and order dinner. She dropped off the menu, then grabbed her phone and disappeared without returning to take my order, strike two. After sitting there for about 10 minutes, a grey-headed gentleman came by and asked how things were. I told him I was ready to order, and he kindly entered my chimichanga with ground beef into the system. Within 3-4 minutes, a nice lady came out from the kitchen with my plate, bonus star for the kitchen being so fast! During my meal, my margarita was long gone, so I found myself eating the ice just to have something to drink with dinner. By the time I finished both my meal and the ice, the bartender finally came back and asked if I wanted another drink, a little late for that one. I told her I was done and ready for the check. She just walked away, and I had to flag down a bald-headed gentleman to finally get my bill. Throughout my entire visit, the bartender was consistently on her phone and not providing customer service at all. We noticed the hostess helping bus tables, and every single employee had a welcoming smile on their face. It's a beautiful restaurant in a great location, and it has lots of spacious seating. The food came out quickly, and it was so delicious! I think the shrimp tacos were the best I've ever eaten! And the basil margarita was a fun twist on a Mexican staple. I have been here many times, surprised that I had not reviewed it before. Food here is always really good....fajitas, enchiladas, dinners, even brunch offerings--always made to order and very good. Service is friendly and people other than your waiter/waitress will say hello sand check on you. Might sound small, but stuff like that makes the experience even better. Prices are very fair and portions are pretty large...you won't get cheated. The restaurant has ample seating, but can get crowded on Sunday during lunch time. Parking can be tough, but that applies for everything in Roanoke. Seating is availabe at the bar and patios, so if its a nice day you have some outside options. read more

Super Bowl Sunday I was craving Ceviche. They had two orders ready in less than 5 minutes. They serve the ceviche with fresh warm chips and a spicy salsa. I added the chips and salsa to my chili charcuterie board. The shrimp ceviche is so good and differed from many of the ceviche's that are overpowered by red onions. This one has cherry tomatoes sliced in half so they are plump and juicy. Green peppers add a satisfying crunch. The green onions are just enough but they don't over power the shrimp. My family and I have been eating at this restaurant for the past 6 years. We've been loyal customers and really love the food. However, within the last 2-3 years the online ordering has been lacking. It's likely that more times than not our whole order isn't completed when arriving to our house. Tonight the order consisted of tacos, fajitas, and enchiladas. We ended up not getting the complimentary salsa, and the sides that came with the fajitas (sour cream, guac, and pico). I would love to say this has been the only time this has happened, but it's now become a game in our family to guess what will be missing or wrong. I'm also disappointed because I loved their cheese enchiladas with their chili con queso sauce but they decided to change the default sauce to queso. According to the restaurant they changed it because the general public prefers that. This would be fine since I have the option to change the sauce, but it never seems to fail that when I order them the queso Is still put on and not corrected. I mean, who on earth puts queso on a cheese enchilada in the first place. They're just looking for constipation, and my wrath. Lunch beef fajitas here were $14. I frequently go to other Mexican restaurants for lunch. Usually, the lunch portions are smaller but I didn't expect the beef portion to be as small as I received. The beef was 6 small strips that were nearly paper thin. Onions and peppers were sufficient and tasty, as were the rice and beans. Main disappointment was the beef, which reminded me of that old Wendy's commercial, "Where's the beef?" I will probably avoid this place if I'm wanting lunch beef fajitas. We ate at Los Compadres Cantina tonight in Roanoke . This was hands down the best Mexican food I have had since moving here. Everything was very fresh and super tasty. It was a hard choice choosing my dinner tonight everything sounded good. It smelled amazing in there and I watched other dishes come out that looked amazing. I got the Camarones Baja Tacos Three negra modelo beer battered jumbo shrimp tacos with pickled cabbage, avocado, and volcano sauce on flour tortillas. Served with rice and charro beans. The shrimp were huge! It reminded me of a little place in Cabo where I had beer battered shrimp tacos. It was so tasty! That sauce was bomb too! My husband got the Barbacoa Tacos Three braised lean beef cheek with corn tortillas. Served with cilantro, onions, avocado, rice and charro beans. I tried a bite and it was so tender! The charro beans were really good too. They had a little bit of spice! I never take those home but took some home this time. My kids had a kids chicken nuggets ( I love that they have this option because my son is not a fan of Mexican food and only eats chicken). My daughter had a cheese quesadilla, she loves Mexican food. 2 1/2 year old twins approved! Also I have to add that the salsa was really good. I have not had good salsa since moving here but that was awesome! They also give you free freshly pressed and made tortillas with butter. Which were awesome and very much appreciated! We have ordered food to go on a few occasions, but today was the first time we dined in. Our waitress was Madison. This may be her first job. There was something about her that made her endearing - I don't know what it was. They do not have sweet tea but she said the tea is warm so I could try to mix the sugar in then pour it over ice. It didn't work nearly as well as I had hoped, but props to her for being clever enough to suggest it! She did a say things like "like" and "you know" a lot, which was a bit too casual, in my opinion, but we aren't talking fine dining here, so maybe it is ok. I really enjoyed their queso. It was thick and coated the chip nicely. No watery queso here! I had the lunch cheese enchilada plate - 2 cheese enchiladas topped with chili con carne and served with rice and beans. I also ordered a side of guacamole. The chili con carne had beans in it, which I found odd. Not a good thing, not a bad thing...just an observation. The enchilada were ok. The guacamole was lacking in acid. I added a bit of salt and it was a little better, but it could have used a bit of lime juice. My fiancé had the burrito lunch. He chose beef burritos with queso. He said he would probably be willing to order it again, although he might try chicken next time. Their chocolate flan consists of a very moist chocolate cake that is topped with chocolate flan. This place is the bomb!! Where else can two people eat for less then $40 including a 25% tip? We always sit at the bar because the service is exceptional. This was our first time on a Monday and the bartender told us all the appetizers are half off! I got the Tango to drink which is basically a swirl and hubs got a Mt Gray which is a coconut old fashioned sort of. He loves it. I got the ceviche which is so beautifully plated and tasty and hubs got the sampler with quesadillas, flautas, nachos and a side of queso. We had a wonderful family dinner this evening after attending the Roanoke Hometown Holiday event! When we first walked up the steps to enter Los Compadres, we were greeting very kindly. The hostess said that although our wait time was popping up at 55 minutes she knew it would be more like 10 minutes. And she was spot on! My family didn't have to wait long at all to be seated. I noticed the tables were spaced to accommodate social distancing protocol, there is hand sanitizer at the hostess stand, plenty of soap in the restrooms and employees are wearing masks and gloves. Everyone is doing their part even the customers. As for the food, YES! It was so good! My husband commented that he's so happy that he can give our child AMAZING food at her age. We're so blessed to live in Texas! Our waitress was attentive and friendly, making sure we had refills and that our food arrived hot! We even ordered sopas to end our lovely meal. We sure do love sopapillas, BUT they paired it with ice cream! Even better. Thank you Los Compadres for our dining experience this evening!
