One of my favorite local spots in the Southlake/Grapevine area! The birria tacos are always my go-to and never disappoint. The service is friendly, the atmosphere is welcoming, and the location is convenient. The only downside is that prices are a bit higher than you might find at similar taco shops in places like Arlington or Lewisville, but that's understandable given the area. Even so, the quality makes it worth it. I've brought numerous clients, friends, and family here over the years, and everyone has loved it. It's become one of my regular recommendations, and I'll definitely be back again and again. read more

Tacos! Tacos! Tacos! Wow. I am writing this review as I'm eating. This place, in Southlake, or maybe in dfw, top 3 favorite taco places I've ever had. I ordered a taco plate and got the al pastor and Barbacoa, the flavor was unreal. The salsa was spicy and delicious. The refried beans were a little soupy but all in all a 10/10. this place is more like a 3.5 out of 5 stars. i'm just glad with a generic name such as "taco shop" they sell other items besides tacos. this is my second time coming here, but the first time picking up food. the first time they were closed unexpectedly. this place is located in the same lot as 7-11. I ended up getting a carne asada California burrito, for people who don't know what a california burrito entails, is that as long as you have french fries in the burrito, its automatically a california burrito. i suppose california burritos are typically known to have carne asada, but this place you can pick and choose your type of protein. within the burrito it came with rice, beans, fries, protein, cheese and some onion and cilantro. For to go order, they should give you red/green sauce. I also got a cup of horchata and it was pretty good, the cinnamon flavor was quite strong. Nothing bad about this place, but also there was no "wow" factor. I drove past this new restaurant several times before my time aligned with their hours. It is in sort of an odd location and not terribly easy in or easy out but not awful. Certainly not enough to prevent me from going back! We each ordered the Taco Plate, which is any 3 tacos and includes charro beans. We tried the barbacoa and carne asada tacos with cilantro and onion. The tortillas are homemade so you know they are going to be good! And they were. They were so good that we went back to try breakfast a couple of days later! Breakfast was just as good as dinner - AND I learned that you can have anything on the menu at any time of day. I love that because I really enjoy breakfast tacos for dinner and can't always find a place that offers that! The salsa was ok but I can't say I loved it. That's just me - personal preference. They also have aguas frescas so that made me happy. I can't remember the other flavor because once I heard "horchata" I basically stopped listening! LOL!! I love horchata and theirs was quite tasty! The floor tiles and lights were so pretty and it was a nice and clean place. We had a little bit of trouble with communication and translation and I find that uncomfortable at times but we figured it all out. The food is absolutely delicious! I got the QuesoBirria Tacos & my husband got the taco plate with 2 barbacoa & 1 carne asada- everything was great! He opted for rice instead of beans with no charge to switch it out and the rice was as good as my grandmother's was- very real world authentic with the peas and carrots! The salsas in the fridge are delish and really finish off the tacos. The only thing we wouldn't get again is the guacamole & chips. It was pretty much just mashed avocado and didn't have enough flavor to justify the price. But everything else was fantastic and we will go back often! read more

We stopped by Taco Shop on a whim... and I am SO GLAD we did. Holy moly. They make some incredible Al Pastor! We ordered tacos (and also two barbacoa ones which was also yummy). Service is friendly and food is made quickly! The salsa is HOT but man the flavor is just soooo good. I'm a spicy food wimp, and even I dumped this stuff all over my tacos! If you're in Southlake I highly recommend swinging by. The agua fresca is a great way to wash it all down (and cool off the salsa, too)! The vibe in here feels authentic and was very clean. First time visiting the taco spot. Unfortunately I was underwhelmed. It is a small location with some challenges to park it you have a larger vehicle. Service was fast since they have an assembly line when you order. Their charro beans were flavorful and fantastic. The tacos used handmade tortillas which had great flavor and were filling! Now to the not so good. Their carne asada was terrible. It was cut into strips and my meat was extremely chewy, had no flavor and felt over cooked. It was unpleasant and I did not go beyond the first bite. I was happy to see their al pastor was trompo style, but their seasoning was way too sweet. The pineapple and their seasoning overpowered the meat and there was no salt at all. It was almost like a desert and not flavorful at all. I had a taste of my wife quesobirria taco and that was very good. I am not sure how long the Taco Shop has been open, but it was my first time there and outside of their birria tacos and beans, I may not go back. When you walk it you can definitely tell it's a take out kind of spot. Food was decent, overly priced. I was not impressed with the quesabirria plate since they put even less meat than the tacos. It also didn't help that I saw the employee smell the cheese after she made my order. I'm not sure if she put it back in the fridge or trashed it after since she caught herself and sort of just hid it back under the counter. Also the cheese that was used tasted like white American I saw it was sliced cheese not the authentic Oaxaca cheese. The taco plate was okay, not a fan of the carne asada since it's dry. Stopped in for lunch because this place is very close to my work. It was busy and the place is small, BUT, wow! Great food. I felt like I was in CDMX. It's busy. It can be loud and the food is outstanding. I had a taco plate w carne asada. If you are eating in, grab some sauces out of the fridge. My coworker had a taco plate w 2 al pastor and 1 carne asada. We both had rice as the side. He is from Mexico and I am not. We both enjoyed our food. It was fresh, tasty and the homemade tortillas were fresh and tasty. I used to work for a company that had a major operation in CDMX, so I have had many nights and meals there. It's like 'Chipotle' but with real Mexican food. All fresh made daily. I got 3 tacos on fresh made corn tortillas. (They have flour as well) I had one with al pastor, one with carne asada & one with pollo asada. All were delicious but the pastor had the best flavor. They stuff the tacos so full that I didn't even care that they were a little pricier than your average Taqueria. $3.95 per taco Plus they're served with your choice of toppings. I did onion, cilantro, lime, and avocado (totally worth 75 cents for avo) but they have other choices as well. There was a choice of 3 salsas and I chose the green. It had just the right kick of heat for me. As far as drinks, they have an array of Mexican sodas and ice tea, which I skipped since I got my order to go. All served by friendly and helpful people!
