I absolutely love this restaurant! Great decor and ambiance. I've tried so many dishes and they are all stellar. The 3 salsas are a yummy start. Their taco meat is so savory, queso is wonderful and the braised pork is to die for. Shrimp tacos or nachos are fantastic. Seriously.....not a bad dish on the menu. Only bad thing is our last waiter.....I hope he was only having a bad day and not that dismissive with every customer. I ordered a 5 combo and got the 6. Finally got the bill and then he disappeared again . Ended up paying on line , then as we were walking out , he came running over , held us up to make sure we paid ‍. Came here for dinner with some girlfriends. The restaurant is very nice and plenty of space/tables. We got sat in the back so it was a bit chilly; draft from the air-- so if you're sensitive to cold ask to be sat elsewhere. The food was very good. We ordered the shrimp ceviche, chicken flautas, and I got a combo plate. We also shared their duo queso & guac & their Brussels sprouts. Both were delicious! I got a shrimp enchilada with my combo and I think the cheese sauce was just overkill. It would've been better with a lighter cream sauce, but that's just my opinion. The actual shrimp filling was so so good. Our first waiter, Jordan, was awesome! Quick and attentive to everything. We did ask to move to the patio at the end of our meal so we could enjoy drinks with a friend that showed up later-- the waiter outside seemed to rush us out the door a bit. Hadn't been to Mesero in quite some time with my most recent experience being the Addison location with the great patio overlooking the golf course. Southlake location ambiance fails in comparison. Nothing special. Bright, open and bland. Feeling more like a Dennys. The "freshly" made chips tasted like they were fried in really old grease. The container they came in had a pool of oil in the bottom of it. Not good. The "Combinacione 6" was okay but nothing at all special--cheese felt a bit processed. Mesero is feeling more like a manufactured chain restaurant than the special feeling it had early on. Or maybe it's just this location? Service was all great. Nice folk. read more

Did some research here on Yelp which brought me to Mesero because I was looking for Molè and Queso, this place had both! The restaurant was very clean, barely any people were there and I'm sure that was because it was superbowl sunday. We ordered the queso and guacamole combo. Which color queso? I don't know, I'm not from around here, I didn't even know there was more than one color. So yellow it was. Not the right choice, it tasted like straight up velveeta which I do NOT like. Bummer!!! I've had yellow queso before and it did not taste like melted velveeta. No one at my table liked it and it turned into a solid mass quite quickly. The guacamole was good. I also got a frozen mango margarita. At the last min we decided to get the jalapeno poppers, they were ok, my daughter makes them better. I got a combination with an enchilada with molè sauce and a carnitas taco. I really liked the enchilada, the taco was just eh. My son in law was not the happiest with his dinner because it had that velveeta on it. When the waiter came to check on us he asked how everything was, I told him that the queso was not good at all and he said, you should have gotten the white. Well jeeze, now you say something! Should have told me that when I was ordering. I don't know, that kind of rubbed me the wrong way. I feel like he could have taken the yellow one and replaced it with the white one right then and there. That would have been better business. First time visit to Mesero and I have to say it was a pretty good one! We made reservations to celebrate a friend's birthday because she likes Mexican/Tex-Mex and they didn't disappoint. We started with a couple drinks that were very tasty and strong! We also enjoyed some of their chips and salsa. For our entrées, we enjoyed enchiladas, tacos, and I think my husband had a couple seafood items. Everybody said their food was very tasty. Our service was also very good! This is one of our favorite restaurants in the area. Upscale Mexican food, great staff, and I love being able to book a reservation ahead so we can enjoy a nice meal. I love the brisket tacos but the fajitas are also amazing. Cocktails and mocktails are quite good, and they give you three different salsas with chips to start. The Southlake location - in the former Howard Wang's spot - faces the parking lot, but there is a sign on the building's rear, facing Southlake Boulevard. It's in the shopping center where Central Market is, on the far west edge. Mesero caters to a variety of customers, from date night to young families to large celebrations. As a starter, the corn tortilla chips are tasty and pair well with the trio of salsa choices. For entrees, I've ordered the Miguelito, which is a filling combo. Also good is the Hollywood Cobb Salad with grilled chicken (tip: ask for the salad to be served as a chopped salad). The dining room looks onto a "show kitchen", although you don't actually see the prep work. A small bar is at the far end, but the main bar area is in front of you as you enter through the revolving door. There is a small outdoor patio area, sort of hidden from the parking lot by a grass berm (which is the lot entry from the west). Prices are reasonable - dinner for two (without alcohol) is typically around $40 to $45. There's a real concentration of Mexican choices in the immediate vicinity, but Mesero more than holds it's own and is a great choice for upscale Mexican. On the not-so-good side, recent visits to Mesero revealed some service mistakes. Something simple as refilling ice tea didn't happen without asking. And on at least 2 separate visits, the wrong sides were brought (in one instance, they weren't even served at all). These are training errors that management needs to address immediately. read more

I brought my husband here for lunch while we were on an errand in Southlake. The atmosphere is minimalism, but nice and comfortable. Our wait person was great and there when we needed him. Kept our tea glasses filled and checked in without being obtrusive. I had the Miguelito plate and really enjoyed it. Surprisingly, the cheese enchilada was my favorite - very flavorful. Chicken enchilada has a thick cheese sauce on it, rice was fine, slaw wasn't my cup of tea and was too full to eat the black beans. Oh, and I really liked the brisket taco. Everything needed a little salt to me. Husband had the Braised Pork and absolutely loved it. Was very full and he finished it anyway! Lucky to be back in the big D for a work meeting and Mesero was at the top of my must return to for lunch with a friend! First time at this location and it had a nice suburban vibe. Friendly staff and they did not mind us sitting at our table for a long period of time while we caught up together. Plenty of parking since it is located in the Central Market strip mall. Chips and salsa were quickly provided which were fresh and tasty. Both of us ordered from the brunch menu. I ordered egg whites scramble with assorted tortillas. My friend ordered the omelette. 3.5 stars. The restaurant is beautiful. There is a full bar. Clean. Staff is on top of things. But writing today's review strictly on the food we tried today. We were seated immediately. It was a bit later lunch hour and it wasn't busy at all. The menu had a ton of options and all sounding yummy. The chips and salsa were very good. With 3 flavors of dip. I just had the polo verde soup. The soup had a nice amount of chicken, the verde broth was very good. I would definitely have it again. For the entree we ordered the combination enchilada. It was a cheese enchiladas with red sauce. The presentation was amazing but that's where the amazingness stopped. The red enchilada sauce was not very good. The tortillas didn't seem to be home made and were thick. The shrimp taco was lacking flavor, the shrimp were small but a nice amount of the peppers were a green pepper and the sauce was a drizzle of something that you really couldn't taste the rice was a white rice with very few veggies thrown in. Again, presented nicely but lacked flavor. Over all this wasn't an exceptional visit for us. But we would give it another chance. read more

From Frustrated to Grateful - Thanks to Jose I originally had a disappointing experience at Mesero Southlake involving a missed order and lack of follow-up from a team member named Balthazar. I was frustrated because I've spent a lot of money here over the years, and for me, it's never about the money--it's about accountability and good customer service. That said, I have to give major credit to Jose, the General Manager. He personally called me and handled the situation exactly the way a strong leader should--with professionalism, urgency, and genuine care. Jose turned a frustrating experience into a reminder of why I've supported this place for so long. He's a true asset to that location and the entire Mesero brand. Thanks again, Jose. As most are saying the ambience is great, nice decor, a little on the cold side and the service was great. The food, not so good. Salsa trio they provide is decent but very small serving. We ordered queso that was chalky, not very good and the guacamole had zero taste other than avocados and that was the spicy version. Chicken enchiladas were below average, not great, the cream sauce was very good. Rice was a little over cooked and the beans were taco bueno quality. Fajitas were average or below and the beef tacos were just average. For Mexican food the food should have flavor and unfortunately this food lacked just that. read more

Mesero reminded me of eating at Gloria's when it came to the atmosphere. The restaurant was extremely nice inside. I really liked the openness and clean feel. The food was the underwhelming part. I was expecting delicious and authentic Mexican food and this was not it. We ordered carnitas tacos, fish tacos and a side of fries for our child. The best tasting thing were the French fries. So glad I was finally able to visit this place because I've been meaning to for such a long time. We came in for a late lunch/early dinner and had a lovely meal. First, I loved the three dips/salsas that come out along with the freshly fried chips. As a huge fan of any kind of sauce, it's always a nice touch when a restaurant offers a sampling of what's to come. My boyfriend and I ended up ordering the Ahi Tuna Nachos for an app, the Miguelito and the Red Fish as our entrees. We were impressed with how big the tuna slices were for the app and each bite was full of flavor. Both of our entrees were also great and I can't recommend them highly enough. With the Miguelito, you get a bit of everything (two different enchiladas and a brisket taco with rice and beans) and you won't be disappointed. We had some complimentary tortilla chips and this delicious salsa omg the salsa the green one with fresh tomatoes was so good we had several . I would go there just for the salsa. I had the classic. I really enjoy everything about this place, the food is good and there are a lot of options. When you get seated they get your drink order and bring out chips and salsa pretty immediately. I mostly go for enchiladas and tacos (verde enchiladas and brisket tacos are my favorites). The servers are kind and attentive, always get good service here. The restaurant is clean and definitely more upscale than your average Tex Mex restaurant. I definitely recommend including Mesero in your Tex Mex rotation. read more

Mesero has been on my radar for a couple of months now and we decided to give it a try today. We arrived right after opening at 11:00 on a Saturday and the store was virtually empty at that time. The ambiance is modern and open with light from windows all around on the south and west. The tables are quite attractive but but un-clothed, at least at lunch. Silverware is presented wrapped in a nice cloth napkin. There is a large wrap around bar seating area and a boatload of Tequila options showcased there. We asked to be seated in one of the booths located along the glass wall that spans the length of the open to view kitchen. As we came on a Saturday the brunch Mimosa was an option at 6 bucks and my wife found it enjoyable, though it is not large being served in a coupe, as is the Meserito Margarita that I ordered. The Meserito is poured sin hielo in the salt rimmed coupe and is a very nicely done Marg. Highly recommend. We began with the shrimp ceviche. I am not convinced that the shrimp was "cooked" in lime juice... it appeared to us steamed or boiled, but nonetheless the overall dish was quite enjoyable and a very generous proportion. We would have enjoyed a little more heat from the jalapeños or whatever, but that's just us. The combination of the flavors of the ingredients in the dish was most enjoyable. As we are old timers with smallish appetites we decided to share the chili relleno filled with just the cheese. While we were working on half each a server from the kitchen appeared with another al la carte chili relleno. She said the chef on the line in the kitchen beyond the window saw us sharing the dish and felt like it was too small to be shared and wanted us to have another !! LOL. What?? Who does that? Well, this kitchen did. And get this... I think this is unusual... these poblano chilis had been roasted and skinned before filling and broiling. How many restaurants go to the trouble of removing the skin? It's a job! I think not many. And what we loved about the chili relleno here is that it is not breaded. Just the broiled fresh chili and filling. A+ I can see Mesero becoming a go to destination for us. read more

Everyone loved their dish! Even if you're not a Mexican food fan, you can still enjoy a dish that isn't typical Tex-Mex. The guacamole wasn't anything to write home about. The margaritas were delicious but double the price of excellent ones around the corner. Service was great but they failed to recognize the comment I added to our Open Table reservation that mentioned our mother's birthday. It's much more cute in there than some of the pictures that make it look more like a lunch place. They lower the lights and it has a nice dinner feeling. The bar area is large and has tv's for game watching. If you like watching the kitchen line, they have cool little booths you could enjoy. However the table they chose for us was all the way in a back corner by the entrance to the kitchen. Seemed weird since we had a reservation and there were a dozen+ open tables in more desirable locations. Will we return? Heck yeah! They start you off with complimentary chips and three different dipping sauces/salsas. I ordered their ahi tacos and my husband had the Pollo/chicken tacos....both were good....we also had some queso that was excellent! I would say they need to improve on their drinks...they were only OK...margaritas should be great! I had a regular margarita and it was weird tasting, my husband had mango margarita and his was flavorful but no tequila. Both our drinks definitely needed more tequila. First time dining here and it was just lovely. Located in the same complex as Central Market and across from Trader Joe's. Ambience is very nice - slightly upscale casual. Our server was spot on -helpful and knowledgeable. The margaritas were delicious but we were fortunate that they were still offering the "Cinconada" mangonada. Oh wow! Wonderful! It would have been good as dessert ! Salsas and queso are very good. Entrees of salmon de la plancha, brisket tacos, cremaqueso enchiladas and Chili Colorado are all going on our repeat list.
