I was craving Mexican food and, in a rare moment of freedom away from the puppy, decided Chuy's was the obvious choice because, frankly, their queso is bomb. Unfortunately, I never made it far enough into the experience to actually order any. When I arrived, I was told there weren't any high-top tables available in the bar. I could see an empty one, so I politely asked about it. I was told the server "wouldn't be able to get to it." Okay then. I didn't push the issue and agreed to sit in the dining room. At that point, I didn't even dare ask about a booth. The hostess was giving less "welcome to Chuy's" and more "you're not on the list" nightclub-bouncer energy. I was seated at a table and waited three or four minutes without being greeted. No "hello," no "I'll be right with you," no acknowledgment at all. A manager even walked past me. Nothing. The server I assumed was assigned to my table was taking an order nearby, which is completely understandable. I wasn't expecting him to abandon another guest mid-order. But a quick "Hey, I'll be with you in just a minute" would have taken about five seconds and made all the difference. Instead, I sat there apparently participating in Chuy's new invisible-customer program. Eventually, I decided my time was worth more than waiting to find out whether anyone planned to acknowledge my existence, so I left. On the way out, I told the hostess that no one had greeted me and that I was leaving. I also asked for a business card for the manager or general manager. She seemed flustered by the request and didn't know where the cards were -- or whether they even had any. I was told I would need to call later and ask for him. What surprised me most was that there was absolutely no attempt to recover the situation. No "I'm sorry." No "Let me grab the manager." No "Can we get you seated with someone right now?" No effort whatsoever to keep a customer who was literally standing there explaining why he was leaving. Instead, I got a smile and a "have a great day," which came across less as sincere hospitality and more like the customer-service equivalent of "thoughts and prayers." Restaurants get busy. Servers get overwhelmed. I completely understand that. What I don't understand is an entire front-of-house experience where nobody seems particularly interested in whether a guest stays or leaves. We visited during lunch time and got seated straight away. This location is next to Capital Grille is a nice area. It's definitely family friendly and good place for affordable Tex Mex. Love the decor and vibe here! Staff was friendly and super efficient checking in on us frequently. We all liked the appetizer plate and of course the jalapeno dip was amazing! So I'm gluten and dairy free by necessity, and I was hopeful about finding a meal I could eat here as my friends all wanted to eat here. I ordered the chicken tacos and specifically asked for corn tortillas. My friends ordered fajitas. I noticed when our food came that their tortillas and my tortillas all looked the same, white-ish color. I just assumed their food also came with corn tortillas and that it could be white corn, which I've had many times before. Today I am in so much pain with stomach cramps, bloating, abdominal pain, nausea, palpitations, and aches. I kept trying to think back to what I could've eaten that would mess me up like this because I'm very specific when I order food to minimize these feelings and on a whim, I just looked up Chuys menu to see what kind of tortillas the fajitas come with. Flour. They come with flour. I'm not going to be able to go anywhere or do anything the rest of the week because of someone's careless mistake. On top of that, the food wasn't that good. A rather disappointing experience at Chuy's this evening. Let's start with the positives - we were seated very quickly and our server was relatively attentive. Food was mid - we wished the chips were saltier and the enchiladas were overly drenched with sauce. Areas for improvement - I decided to order the kids cheese enchilada. On the menu, it states that the kids meal includes a drink and a dessert. The meal did not end up including either of those items which was disappointing. The main issue was related to cleanliness. When we walked in, there were over four tables that were extremely dirty. I figured those people had just left and the area would be cleaned soon. As more parties left, more tables were not cleared and the dirty tables from the beginning were still in their original condition. tl;dr - kids meal did not include all items as advertised and the restaurant was not clean. read more

So because of that I gave them 4 stars which under normal circumstances would have been 3 stars. Our initial experience was poor the call ahead wait list still had us waiting an additional 30 min. This is just an abbreviated review of their Chile Relleno special, offered only through 9/8. If you like Chile Relleno, now is your time to visit Chuy's. I like that you get crunchy shells, not the soggy Relleno that most restaurants serve. And, you determine the sauce on top. In my case, I couldn't decide. So, I got two sauces on the side and could decide for myself which I liked. I can't honestly say these are the best Chile Relleno I've ever had, but they are exceptionally good. As soon as the server tried to give us water, she lost balance on the serving table and dropped water on me. This would be fine if she tried to clean the area and provide me napkins much faster. As a server myself I am so confused on how a waiter would walk by a table multiple times as we are clearly trying to get the attention of staff so we can get our drinks 10 minutes after being sat. If you're offering takeout, at least have a few dedicated spots for customers who just need to run in and grab their food. Chuy's is a staple in our house for nostalgic reasons. That's the only way, I feel, that they skated through the pandemic with a severely scaled down menu. Nostalgia. However, the item most nostalgic to folks (that fell victim to COVID menu cutbacks) and the one item most patrons are screaming to be brought back is the relleno (for me the cheese relleno). As a vegetarian, I have very few Tex Mex options available to me, but I always loved the Chuy's Vegetarian Combo (A vegetable enchilada with a cheese relleno, served with rice and beans). Bring it back. While you're at it, at back the pico de gallo that you used to put on the entree plates. We love their chips, salsa, and creamy jalapeño dip. I've had Chuy's many times at other locations and it's usually a very good experience but this specific location let me down today. I stopped by for a curbside pick up while on my lunch break. After the employee went back inside after dropping the food off to me I saw they didn't give me any chips even tho my meal came with chips. I thought to myself: that's fine whatever I don't absolutely need the chips. Well then I get back to work and start eating my meal and every item is cool (temperature wise). Like not even warm. And it's packaged in a foil container so that should have retained the heat. Plus it said it would be ready at 11:53 and I was there at 1200 and I only have a 3 min drive to the restaurant from work so it's not like I picked it up late or had a long drive. They also did not put red chile on my chile rellano like I ordered. So overall most of my order was messed up today due to lack of attention to detail. We started with the queso and then got a bean and cheese burrito with their ranchero and boom boom sauce on the side and 2 chuychangas with boom boom sauce and a salsa verde. Meal was good overall. The chuychanga would have been better if it was smothered in sauce vs inside. The burrito was standard. We also got some margaritas and mojitos which everyone enjoyed.
