We just picked this up for the first time. We got 8 steak tacos and guacamole salad. This was truly the most disappointing establishment to ever claim the Mexican restaurant title. The steak tacos are $5 a piece and look like taco bell soft tacos with some grey steak shoved in. There was 5 chips in the large guacamole salad. The fact that this was $48 is LUDICROUS. Save your money. It is run by high school children. The whole place needs a grown up with taste buds to offer their opinion. read more

Had three tacos for dinner and they were all great. The barbacoa one stood out the most so tender and flavorful. Everything was made fresh and came out hot. Tortillas had that homemade taste and didn't fall apart. The place was clean and had a chill vibe. They also played some good music in the background. I'll definitely be back for more. read more

Oh my! We had a wonderful restaurant called Panchos in West Memphis, Arkansas that had been open since the 1940's it closed in 2021 and I have been looking for something similar to it since then! I found it at Taco Sombrero! I had the enchiladas made with flour tortillas and it was exactly like the Enchilada Grande that I always ate at Panchos! Thank you so much! My family and friends say they're not so sure about this place, but hey try it yourself before believing it's "not so good"! Of course everyone has different opinions but I really like this place. Service is quick and efficient and the workers are sweet about 60-70% of the time .. Maybe not as great as Taco Bell but the food is alright for a person who has visited a couple times. It's a simple dining design on the interior so if you're looking for a fancy place to eat at maybe this isn't for you but if you just want a cheaper version of Taco Bell you've got it here! Been coming here for years and it is the same it has been of years. Mexican inspired dishes at reasonable prices. I normally get out for about $10 per person. The bar with toppings and salsas is on the left when you walk in; use them! The salsa that is in a pump us delicious and I am very generous applying it to my macho fiesta salad. They are always good about dealing with special orders which makes the kiddos happy. Employees always have a smile. Highly recommended! read more

It is a small place. The atmosphere is terrible. They have loud music in kitchen that you can hear in the restaurant side and they have a TV music channel on loud in restaurant side so you can hear two different stations at the same time. LOUD!! The waitress was terrible, snippy, not nice, and that was before we asked if we could have the TV shut off. The food is good but El Rancho or Azteccas is better and you don't have to fight a crappy environment and bad sevice. read more

UPDATED REVIEW: Quality control has definitely gone down here. Their Crispy Beef Tacos often come with either broken or soggy shells. The ground beef used for their tacos and salads is over-salted to the point of sometimes giving me stomach aches. And the amount of ground beef used in their Macho Fiesta Salads has definitely decreased, while the refried beans have increased -underhanded tactics like this to use less ground beef only make me visit this restaurant less often. And the women manning the cash register need to learn good customer service skills because they often look bothered you are even speaking to them or asking them for more hot sauce. And I still find it disturbing I never see even one Latin person working at this taco place. Because of all of this, I only eat here about once every two months. And I used to eat here almost weekly before. And most of my friends and family here have the same complaints about them. It's sad this once great restaurant has fallen so low on the quality scale. read more

Taco Sombrero is a quick in and out little "Mexican Food" restaurant right off I-49. Easy access for travelers, quick service, and very polite staff. It also is locally owned and operated with a drive up and outdoor seating and plenty of parking. Prices are good for the quality of food. The reason for my 3 stars is besides all the positives it's just OK food. It's not horrible and I will go back but if you are looking for a street food type experience this is not the place. Make sure to say yes to the hot sauce, in my opinion, the food was a little bland. To me, the food seems very generic and maybe only a step above its fast-food chain competitors. Don't let this deter you if you are hungry and in search of a quick easy meal to calm the kids on the way out of town, this is a good option above the fast-food trash that litters Hwy 49. read more

My most middle-of-the-line review. Nothing was stellar, nothing was bad. I can't add much more to the photos, because they sum up pretty much exactly what you get. It's tex-mex, so think seasoned ground beef, refried beans, shredded cheese, guac, and shredded lettuce. Nothing particularly outstanding if you've got fine dining in mind. HOWEVER, say you're someone who LOVES taco bell and wants to find a cheap, tastier alternative-- in that case, Taco sombrero definitely delivers. Huge, decent-tasting portions that won't break your budget, and they have a salsa bar. :) TL;DR: Better than T-bell and inexpensive. I was craving a burrito and found this place on Google. If I could take it back, I would. I had no idea how underwhelmed I would be. This is definitely NOT authentic Mexican food like it claims to be. There was literally no flavor in this "barely-any-meat" burrito. If the meat was supposed to be seasoned, I certainly didn't taste it. I couldn't even taste the cheese or sauce they supposedly put into it. I have been going to Taco Sombrero for many years. Over the last few months it seems like the evening swift just can't get thier stuff together . Can't be that hard to make a salad. They either don't put enough lettuce and it looks like a nothing salad or it is done like it was the other day. how can you forget to add your chili sauce, beans and sour cream to a salad? This place opened up in 1979 and they're been there ever since whipping up fresh Mexi fast food. We order a little bit of everything for a well-rounded sampling, and nothing disappointed, especially the tamales! Yeah mofos, I said, "tamales!" You ain't gonna get those at no stinkin' Taco Bell, and that's a fact! NACHOS, STEAK TACO, TACO SALAD, REGULAR BEEF TACO all equal goodness. Nothing here is pre-packaged, cooked off-site and trucked in. Please keep in mind that this is fast food, not authentic Mexican that you'd get on the side of the raod heading to Chacchoben. Pretty horrible food. Definitely not authentic. Ordered a steak burrito and it was strips of underseasoned dry meat in a tortilla. However, I tried their tiny 3 for 1.99 tamale and those were pretty awesome. The flavors were correct. I was lured into this place because I really needed to use the bathroom and the little mariachi dolls on the sign outside were hilarious. Not authentic Mexican food, but it's cheap and they have a good selection of items. Burritos are around $4.50, quesadillas are around $4. What I don't get is why they won't give you the pico de gallo and jalapeños from the drive thru window, you have to go inside and scoop them into the little containers yourself, which defeats the entire purpose and convenience of a drive-thru?! Also, the containers had no lids (or maybe they were out?). Either way, they lost a star for that inconvenience. read more
