    2 fish tacos!
    Grace S.

Price to quality ratio -- based on the tacos we ordered alone makes it worth 5 taco ratings out of 5 for me! Came here after trying to find a place that catered tacos and Mexican food for a party we were organizing. This place looked perfect given the variety, but I felt was a bit too far away from where we were throwing our party but ultimately I wanted to try it given their $1 taco and my love of battered fish tacos. We ordered: 3 Fish Tacos (2 of them were mine) 1 Beef rolled tacos (all mine!) 1 pulled pork taco (husband made a meal) There is a good amount of seating inside and an ample amount seating outside the building. It doesn't quite look like the picture on the menu page of their web site though with the covered canopies as it looks like they were holding some sort of event. There are about a total of four or five benches along the the left side of the building and at the front. I appreciate the seating areas they have outside (which, going through older photos have changed a bit in terms of the kinds of furniture). The food was a good amount for me, good portions. Fish tacos despite the price were still a good size, but not huge. In fact, with my order of beef rolled tacos, I had trouble finishing my second fish taco! My partner really liked his meal. I have since went back two more times and been absolutely satisfied with everything we have ordered. My partner ordered the Everything Fried Rice and I ordered a Crispy Beef Taco. He really liked it but said he would pick a different fried rice since each bite being a different meat or seafood was a bit strange. And as a lover of all things crunchy, the Crispy Beef Taco was delicious, and matched the price of 4.75 in comparison to the fish taco (.99). The last time I went I ordered three fish tacos, which was perfect for me. Others might want four fish tacos as the amount of fish is slightly smaller than the other tacos. My partner ordered 2 fish tacos and a carnitas taco ($2.75) and liked it all. Obviously given that we've been there now three times we like the place and the prices. Service is neither spectacular nor awful - it is just as I would expect at a taco place. Next time I want some fish tacos I am coming back to this place without reservation.

Fish taco, beans and rice (combo)

A great local spot to enjoy some fish tacos and beer. You might be aware of their $0.99 fish tacos (dine in only), and it really is great value! You can easily add rice and beans to your order for a bit more to make it a meal. While these aren't the best fish tacos you can get, you can't beat the price. For the chips and salsa, I wish they provided a chunky salsa or pico with the chips. Their shrimp ceviche was okay - shrimp is fresh and plump but the flavor was very sweet, tasted like ketchup. Personally I would like it more tangy and spicy. Beer here is affordable (bottled only) and the overall ambiance here is relaxed but also lively. Service here is friendly, we were greeted right away and our server continued to follow up with us throughout our meal. Overall, a nice local spot for a bite. Check it out if you're ever at the DMV as well, it's just next door.

I too came here for the infamous $1 fish tacos. They really are $1 per fish taco for dine-in and $1.50 for take-out. Ordered 2 fish tacos and adobada fries. The fish tacos were tasty and lightly breaded so you can scarf down many fish tacos. Came with a creamy white sauce and they brought me 2 bottles of hot sauce to use, a red and green sauce. The adobada fries were tasty too with a decent size, excellent seasoning on the meat, and plenty of toppings. Service was a bit slow and I had to wait a while to get the menu and then waited another long while for someone to come take my order, but the food was tasty and great value. Highly recommend trying out the fries and fish tacos here!

Coors light & their special margarita

Can't ever go wrong with $1 fish tacos and carne asada nachos! What can I say? My husband is a cheap date! Just kidding, he paid. Highly recommend their special margarita! It's not too strong and not too sweet! But I always catch a good fade from just 1! Or maybe I'm weak sauce! Their staff workers are always on point and never leave you waiting. They also check on you fiftyleven times. Super cheap cute date night! Give them a try!

The best tacos for the best value in North County! Taco Taco is known for their $1 fish tacos which are always delicious but their mexican caesar salad & pulled pork tacos are among their other staples for us! Staff is always friendly and service is extremely quick, with ample seating space inside. If you haven't yet, I highly recommend checking them out!

I've come here a few times for the $1 fish tacos and they are always delicious! It's a great deal! Service is hit or miss, but it's never been bad. It's a small place and they do get busy so I would avoid coming here with a group of people, but it's great for 1-6 people. This is definitely a casual place, wouldn't recommend for something like a birthday dinner, but it's a great place to grab good food and beers without breaking the bank.

At the DMV and someone overheard me say we wanted fish tacos... He suggested Taco Taco next door for $0.99 fish tacos! That's unheard of. If you order take out they're $1.50, still good deal. It's actually a sit down place and server takes your order. We got the fish tacos and Mexican Cesar salad. Good service and friendly staff. The place was busy for late Fri lunch. Very causal place, homey vibe. It seemed most people there were repeat customer. Salad was huge and it was fresh and crisp. I took half home. Fish tacos were ok, totally worth the $0.99 but not sure I would order again but they weren't bad but could use salt?Looks like they have some other good items on their menu and all reasonably priced. Would come again and try something else.

Fish tacos 99 cent dine in

They have 99 cent fish tacos for dine-in (take out is $1.50). Tried them and they were tasty especially for the price. Quick service and friendly. They have a self serve water station.

    Inside was very attractive.

It LOOKS like a taco shop, and it IS a taco shop, but it's BETTER than a taco shop. First, check out the menu. Yes,, they have all the usual subjects but they also have some very interesting and unexpected creations. Karaage taco, anyone? Fried rice? Second, if you want to eat inside the restaurant, it's table service. Our service was very good, by the way. Or you can just can get takeout. My ratings: Karaage taco 8/10 Crispy potato taco 8/10 Garlic shrimp taco 7/10 Fish taco 6/10 Camaron puerquito taco 10/10 The camaron puerquito taco is amazing:. It's made with melted cheese, adobada, and shrimp. It's huge and delicious. I would order this every time, every day, all day. I normally have a moral objection to paying for chips at a Mexican restaurant but these chips were excellent. You get a huge basket ofvthem snd they are very crispy, fresh, and heavily seasoned with salt and, I'm guessing, lime. The chips are a strong 8/10. The food is prepared to order and everything tasted like it was of high quality. The interior decor is colorful and festive. There's plenty of free parking in the lot. It's a taco shop but definitely better than a taco shop. I would gladly return.

    $1 Fish Tacos!

Been coming here for years for their gigantic $9.75 California Burritos and chips and salsa $1.25. The value is quite solid here as the burritos are huge and the chips are freshly made and hot. Recently my friend told me about the $1 fish tacos which are an absolute steal! I ordered 4 of these to try and for the money they are very solid. They are a bit more bland than the rest of the menu but if you're hungry this is crazy value. If you dine in, you are treated to very friendly and attentive table service. There's plenty of seating and I've never had to wait to be seated even during peak lunch rushes during the workweek or peak dinner rush times on weekends. They kept our ice waters filled to the brim consistently without needing to ask for refills. This is a great spot when you're at the DMW next door, if you've just completed a marathon shopping session at the Walmart next door, or if you're around the Poway area in general. Highly recommend!

    Jonathan K.

Cozy, hole in the wall restaurant! If you're a fan of fish tacos and you're in Poway, you're in for a treat! The moment you walk in the door, someone will guide you to your table. I came here for the $1.00 fish taco specifically. You have to dine in to take advantage of this offer. The tacos are mediocre at best. It definitely reflects the $1.00 price point. They do have other items on the menu that taste much better. I would definitely try those out over the fish tacos!

We don't normally sit at the bar but the restaurant was packed (as expected for a good place on a Friday night) so we sat at the bar. For me personally, I don't usually interact with the staff unless it's ordering our food but we had the pleasure of meeting Bella, she was very friendly and fit right into our conversation. Although it was extremely busy her and the bartender seemed to move quick paced and anytime our salsa or drinks were empty bella refilled them without asking which was awesome! You can tell they enjoy working here because of how much fun they were having, it's nice to see staff enjoy a job rather than loathe. Again it was super busy but the bartender made drinks quickly and Bella kept checking in on us to see if we needed anything which is unusual because when a place gets busy and more people come in sometimes staff doesn't check in as frequently or I feel a little bit neglected but this place was fantastic!!! Everything tasted amazing, I would definitely recommend the Fajitas and the chips were perfect! We all got T&T Cadillac Margaritas and unlike other places you can actually pour the grenadine on your drink yourself which I prefer! All and all everyone was incredibly kind and it was a very fun environment!! Definitely going to be coming back soon!!! Thanks guys!

You can taste every ingredient and there is obvious thought put into their recipes. The salsa bar is on point as well, and when they say spicy, they mean it. Whole 'lotta flavor no matter which salsa you choose. I had one issue though, to the point that I'm not sure I'll come back. When I received my order, I noticed that the bag felt lighter than usual. I didn't think much of it until I got to the car, but when I went to take a quick bite before heading home, I couldn't help but notice how small the burrito was. I know for a fact that this wasn't the case a couple years back when I was coming here regularly. I'm all too familiar with shrinkflation, and I get it, doing business isn't cheap, but I would have gladly paid a couple of extra dollars more to get a big burrito similar to the size of what you get from a 'Bertos shop, or really any SD taco/burrito joint for that matter. Place was clean, service was friendly, but I didn't leave very satisfied... $13 for a burrito this size just didn't make sense to me, no matter how good it tastes, but ~$18 for a bigger burrito with the same ingredients and quality, I would stop by on the regular. If you don't have a big appetite like me, none of this even matters, but if you do, don't come too hungry...

Date of visit: March 29, 2026…read more I was in the area getting some Easter gifts, and as it was lunchtime, thought I'd owe it to myself to check out Jalapeños Mexican Food. I placed an order for five rolled tacos with the works (lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, and guacamole), and a regular drink. While I was waiting, I munched on the free tortilla chips I was given paired with some spicy chunky salsa from the salsa bar. It's a good thing that I had the chips, because while there was a good bit of toppings on the rolled tacos, they just wouldn't stay on top of the order. Not just that, the rolled tacos themselves were a bit disappointing. Yes, the tortillas were crispy, but the filling was kinda... meh. And the worst part? Despite an order of rolled tacos and chips with salsa, I was STILL hungry after I left. I would've have liked to see if there was a combo of rice and beans that was available with the rolled tacos, but that menu board above the counter was TINY. And I felt rushed by the staff because I was trying to see the script, as well as a sense of rudeness overall. Otherwise, Jalapeño was clean, if not a bit on the crowded side. I was surprised though, that there was a line of customers almost out the door as I was leaving... but perhaps that was because there's not that many Mexican joints in this area of Carmel Mountain Ranch (unless you want to count Taco Bell across the street). Overall, while I'd like to try more of the menu, it'll be a hot minute before I come back.
