We have eaten at TacoTaco for years and they absolutely have the VERY BEST Mexican food. Their 2 fish tacos and a beer special is great!!! The owners are usually there and you can see they take pride in their establishment. We just used them for catering a baby shower for 65 people and everyone raved about how good the food was. Plus I have enough food leftover to host another, haha. Believe me, the best take home goodie bag were the taco leftovers and I had to make sure I had some for me. To start they still have great table service with friendly staff members to make your experience a enjoyable one. The food is constantly done well. The prices are good for the great quality. Today I started with Two of The Award Winning Camaron Puerquito (Surf & Turf) Tacos (Adobado and Shrimp) The Flavor combination is Amazing. My favorite Taco above all. Also Two of the Famous .99c Fish Tacos. Always A pleaser. Next I took home a Camaron Puerquito Monster Burrito and A Carnitas Tostada. I bellied up to the bar/counter inside within about 8 minutes I had some fresh chips and salsa as well as a trio of delicious tacos. The tacos were medium-sized not street taco size so the 3 of them were more than enough to fill me up along with a Mexican coke to wash everything down. The carnitas was good but the standouts were the pulpo and the fish tacos- so fresh and flavorful. Both were cooked perfectly - juicy for the pulpo and the fish was crispy and hot. The carnitas are extremely flavorful, tender, juicy, and crispy all in one bite. I can never eat carnitas anywhere else ever again. When my sister told me about their 99cent fish tacos, I was sold. We each ordered three tacos, my sister got the fish, carne asada, and camaron pequitos taco, and I got the same except instead of fish, I got the octopus tacos. Guacamole on everything. And of course, we got plain fries on the side to top it off. I only have one word: INCREDIBLE. Each taco was HEFTY, literally filled to the height of the basket with the protein. I was floored. The first bite of the camaron pequitos taco blew me away. The shrimp was so juicy, and the adobado was perfectly tender. The entire bite was so flavorful and I was absolutely in love. Initially, I was planning to make a trip to Tacos el gordo to reminisce about my San Diego days, but with Taco Taco, I don't have to do that anymore. The octopus taco was ridiculous, I never thought one could have too much octopus and complain about it, but here I am. There was so much octopus, I was completely stuffed. I think next time I'll just get two instead of three tacos. Their hot sauces (both the red and green) were the perfect condiments for the tacos. The cherry on top is that with everything we ordered, in addition to a Mexican coke, with and tax, we only paid $28. Enough said, every time I visit my sister, I'm going to beg her to take me here every time. It shouldn't be a problem because she already comes here at least once every week. I ordered carne asada burrito, and it was almost entirely gristle. I am a long-time repeat customer, and this is the first time the food has been this bad. I showed the Manager, but she still wanted me to pay for something I can't eat. The manager would not even acknowledge how bad the meat was and when I said I shouldn't have to pay for a burrito that is pure gristle she said you have to pay because you ate part of the burrito. I've visited Taco Taco Poway twice now and I really enjoy this place! It's table service but super casual with a great staff and vibe. They go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and well fed. For my inaugural visit I had an outstanding carnitas quesadilla. It was very nicely stacked and most filling. Intrigued by their approach to Mexican/Chinese fusion, I elected to order the "Everything Fried Rice" on my second visit. Included carne asada, carnitas, chicken and shrimp. The shrimps were lacking, very small and sad looking but overall it was a good dish and a huge portion. Definitely needed a nice Sriracha drizz over the top. read more

I would probably order 4-5 if I were eating them alone. Can't say they are the most amazing fish tacos in the world but the value is outstanding. Carnitas Fries/Fried Rice/Fideos - I love the carnitas here, by far my favorite meat option. Super flavorful and a perfect mix of crunchy/charred and juicy/succulent meat. The fries are probably frozen fries (still delicious), topped with melted cheese, pico de gallo, guacamole, and sour cream. The rice and fideos have some veggies mixed in. Honestly the average person could easily split one order into 2 meals. Horchata - Tastes good! A lot of ice though. Carne Asada Burrito/Tacos- Not a fan, it tastes and feels too much like just ground beef to me. Pollo Burrito/Tacos - It's okay, not the best tasting or most succulent chicken you'll ever have. Mango Habenero Wings - A lot of wings for the price, taste is okay but also not the best wings ever. Much more value than Wingstop though! Cubano - Standard Cubano, tastes great and exactly what you'd expect. Poway High Burrito - Wayyyy too massive for one meal imo, think Quesarito from Chipotle size. This thing is huge and super heavy, but still tastes great (with carnitas). Elote en Vaso - It's just Elote except instead of a corn on the cob it's corn kernels in a cup. Much less messy and tastes just as good! Highly recommended if you're in the area. There are tastier Mexican restaurants in San Diego of course, but for the area and the price Taco Taco can't be beat. read more

Been driving by the 99 cent Fish Taco sign for many months, but I finally dropped in today. Easy parking by the DMV. Easy to get a table inside. I ordered 4 fish tacos but I didn't need more than 3. The size is good- way bigger than street tacos but not as large as the largest you've had. I don't think they are battered and fried to order, but they were warm and crispy with lots of crunchy cabbage and served on a good corn tortilla. My only issue is the, uh, flavor itself. I couldn't extract much with the red or green hot sauce. The white sauce tastes more like straight up sour cream, which really flattened things out. Maybe they needed a shake of salt, I dunno. I think next time I'd hold the white sauce and ask for some Tapatio. If fish isn't your jam, the Asada, Carnitas and Pollo tacos are available for a still-reasonable $1.99. The Camaron Puerquito (shrimp + adobada), Fried Rice and Fideo noodle dishes looked interesting as well. Refillable fountain drinks were a very reasonable $2.25, but beer and wine was also available, making it a nice dinner option. So three stars for the food, 1/2 star for the friendly service and 1/2 star for the strong value. read more

A friend told me about this place and since it was close by, I decided to get some food to go. We got the chop cheese tacos and the fish tacos. Both of them were so good. The chop cheese tacos are like a burger but in taco form. I've never had these anywhere, but definitely glad we got them. Fish tacos were delicious and very fresh tasting. The batter wasn't too thick and the sauces good. Since we got take out, the fish tacos were 1.50/ taco. I forgot how much the chop cheese ones were.
