Dropped my daughter off at a friends house nearby and wanted a quick dinner for my wife and I. Ordered Taco Taxi online and they got the food ready quickly. Woman working behind the counter was pleasant and the restaurant was clean and bright. Got the elote and it came with two cobs of deliciously seasoned corn. Came in with my wife and decided to try the quesadillas--she went with a simple cheese, while I opted for The Taxi with carnitas. Unfortunately, both missed the mark. My quesadilla was overly oily and lacked any crispiness, which was a real letdown. The carnitas, lettuce, and tomatoes were solid, but at that point, I might as well have just ordered a salad. I was starving, so I powered through a little more than half, but it wasn't the enjoyable bite I was hoping for. My wife's cheese quesadilla, on the other hand, was dry and soft--again, no crisp crunch, which is kind of a dealbreaker for us when it comes to quesadillas. That said, the service was a bright spot! The girl at the counter was super friendly and seemed to genuinely enjoy her job, which was refreshing given some of the less-than-pleasant service interactions I've had elsewhere lately. Ordered 2 Birria tacos @ 15$ (per the menu ok the counter) then tried to charge me 37$. The girl at the counter insists few times that "It's tax"even after I point out that 7$ tax on 30$ bill is not "tax". She then pivots and says "oh this is not 15$, it's more". Wtf. A lot of weird fake review on here; not sure what the deal is. As of 1 November 2023, this place is definitely open for business and they definitely accept credit cards (including tap to pay and mobile wallets). Their website is broken but you can order on various apps or by calling in. Service is friendly and orders come out in a reasonable time. There is some seating indoors but they're very good at carefully packing to go orders too. My coworkers and I get food from here about once a month. If you're looking for more authentic tacos and burritos, this is the spot. I think the prices are fine - the people working here should make a good living too right? Serving sizes are large. More than enough to fill you up. They have burritos and bowls like you might find at a tex-mex chain, but if you're here you should get something else. I've found everything to be at least good, but never great. Somehow their chorizo and longaniza just taste low on spice and flavor to me. Their fries are also pretty gross (but why are you ordering fries, get the chips instead). I think if I find the right menu item this would jump to 4 stars for me. read more

I really almost did not want to post a review so as not to blow this place up. But we went back for a second time within a week and it was just as great as the first time. This place is a hidden gem. Idk how I hadn't heard about it sooner. But thank God for my co-worker for sharing this secret with me a couple of weeks ago. The food is amazing, the prices are reasonable and this place will become a new regular spot for us. So far we've tried a variety of the tacos. The Al Pastor & Steak are my favorite. THIS PLACE IS AMAZING! The quality and value are superb. They have a few cute tables outside, so nice to sit outside if nice out. They also have a few seats inside and it is counter service. We had a combinations of tacos, 12 in all, and all 4 of us absolutely loved every bite. I will be back (and often). I think the photos of my shrimp tacos and chicken tacos speak for themselves. Rotten avocado and none-to-barely any toppings. Didn't even try the shrimp because it smelled off. The cilantro on the chicken tacos were old and brown as well. Disgusting. It strikes me as very odd that an employee put these into the boxes thinking it was okay to sell to customers. was lucky to stumble upon taco taxi on a weekend trip and WOW. this place is the real deal. i feel crazy saying this but i think this maybe the best mexican food i've had in NY since moving here 15 years ago. we shared 5 tacos, three with shrimp and two with steak. the shrimp were juicy and perfectly grilled. the steak was great. the carnitas burrito was truly divine. the chicken empanada was unreal and arguably the highlight alongside the burrito. the chef brought out our food and was sweet as hell. i left bowing, and that is not hyperbole. god bless this place. read more

Taste was good, but a bit dry. The biggest issue is value - at $15/per we thought it a bit steep for small portions and fast food packaging.
