    Vampiro Asada taco

Such a surprise find. In the neighborhood for an event and the smell of this place drags you in! Eating el fresco the staff is friendly and fast. This taco stand is high volume. We tried a variety of tacos and left with a huge burrito!!

I was delighted that Taco Tijanuero opened on Little Italy since I got the chance to try them at the SD Food & Wine festival last year. I had time to pick up lunch, so I walked up to order. The staff walks over takes your order, and the seating is all outdoor patio area so yes, you can bring your furry pals. I got two tacos: the Birria and Carne Asada. Along with every order is a bag of sliced limes and cucumbers which is a nice side. I waited about 15-20 minutes for my two tacos, and they were not very busy as I was looking around. They do not have takeout bags, so it was hard to walk around with my plate of food in a mini plastic bag. I asked for their salsa on the side, and the worker said that it tends to be pretty spicy, which he was right about! I was dying of the heat! I do think there could be some improvements, especially that birria taco. It was bland, and I wish I ordered something else. Their carne asada was alright too. I remember when I had it at the festival and it was very juicy and seasoned. Here, not so much. I would revisit, only to try their adobada tacos, as it was showcased on their social media and seems to be more of their specialty! Due to service and birria, I'd give my experience a 3 stars.

Honestly, thank goodness this spot was filled with such a gem of a restaurant!! The food was so much better than I expected. Meat--tender and flaaaavorful. Tortillas--soft, pliable and delicious. The adobada queso tacos were everything I could ask for!!! It was quite busy and the food came out within 10 minutes, it was fabulous. Good amount of seating. Will come to dine in or take to go. The spicy salsa is also delicious. So happy this is here! A bit expensive (given the location) but nothing too crazy-- my taco pictured below was $6.50 but I'd be happy with that as a meal on its own. Parking is not great, streets are usually full--but luckily I'm within walking distance haha. Perfect place to stop by for a late night taco also!

Found another great Taco Spot in Little Italy, Taco Tijuanero. This spot is all outdoors, but a lot of seating. Between the red decor, the statue holding up the two tacos and the delightful aroma you smell before approaching is what grabs your attention. Anyone can have a great taco, but for me...it's the salsa that makes or breaks a taco shop. The salsa here was fire. Not only one of the hottest, but flavorful. I ordered two Carne Asada Quesatacos and one Carne Asada Taco. My husband orderd two Birria Vampiros. The combination of the delicious tacos with the salsa was so satisfying. My husband said it was too spicy for him, but for me, it was perfection! We didn't get to dine in because we went right before closing, but the interaction we had with the staff was still friendly and welcoming.

Came for lunch to try this taco spot. Ordering was easy and the staff were helpful at explaining the menu. There are maybe a dozen tables on their patio plus bar style seating. Seating is only outside, so not sure how they will do when it rains (although rare here). Even the cooking area is outside, but they have a tarp / covering for that. I ordered an adobada quesataco and an asada tostada. I got asada tacos for my son and my husband got a quesadilla. I really enjoyed the adobada, but the asada tacos were just ok for me. Everything comes with salsa on it that is SUPER spicy. I wish I would've known how spicy it would be. My poor son eats spicy foods, but was in tears crying about his tacos that I had to order more for him without salsa. The asada is thing sliced and everything comes with a heaping portion of guacamole, except the adobada which came with pineapple and a different sauce. They had canned soft drinks and Fresca drinks. There is a paid parking lot or street parking in little Italy, which can be tough.

Taco Tÿuanero is a casual food stand specializing in Mexican tacos, quesatacos, tostadas, mulitas, burritos, and other quick, inexpensive dishes. This spot features freshly prepared fillings, varied salsas, and vibrant, authentic flavors served in a fast-paced environment. I ordered (2) adobada quesatacos with the works (salsa, guacamole, cilantro, onion, crema, & pineapple). The pork meat was super tender and well seasoned, and the fresh slice of pineapple was chef's kiss! The sweetness of the pineapple paired very well with the pork! My wife ordered (2) carne asada tacos with guacamole and cilantro- also tender and very flavorful! My only gripe would be service. I wouldn't necessarily say the prep work for tacos is labor intensive. But waiting 20 minutes or more for (4) tacos is somewhat unreasonable. I understand long lines are often part of the experience, but be mindful of your own time constraints- service 5/10. Despite the long wait time, we had a great experience and enjoyed dining at this location! We will definitely be back for some more tacos!

Ordered: 12:42pm Sat in their outdoor patio where they have about 10 tables and 3 long bar-like seating area. The waiter brought over some cucumber/lemon and water since I was sitting down. It got pretty busy while I was waiting. They have music playing in the background, not loud, just perfect enough to have a conversation without the music overpowering. Seems like if you sit down, they actually come and take your order. I ordered mine to go since the sign said "To-Go? Order Here" however as I'm waiting I'm overhearing that you can actually change the tortilla type for flour (which I didn't know, otherwise I would have changed them to flour instead of corn). It has been 18 minutes since I ordered...this is taking too long, considering this is literally tacos. As I look around, I noticed there are people who probably got here before me and are yet to receive their food. Ordered received: 1:01pm Chorizo Taco: tasted good, not greasy, topped with guacamole, cilantro, and onions. I put some of the red salsa which in my opinion was spicy but I don't eat spicy so...I think the tortilla was handmade. Birria taco: has 2 thin tortillas. Meat was moist and topped only with cilantro and onions. I put some red salsa and it added to the flavor. Meat doesn't have a lot of fat which is my preference. I works say the Birria was a 3/5...it needed more of that Birria sauce or whatever they dip it in. Overall, I would say it was decent. The staff was very attentive to customers. I think it will do good in this area since little Italy in general doesn't really have many taco spots. Perhaps next time I'll order something else but fear that my order will take longer, considering I only ordered 2 tacos and waited 19 minutes.

Taco Tijuanero has recently opened its doors in Little Italy. I stopped in for lunch and ordered a carne asada burrito, a chorizo burrito, and a side of sauteed onions. The tacos were $4.15 a piece and the side of onions or cebollas cost $2.75. They make their own hand made corn tortillas, which always a good sign and they were very good. The tacos came with a very good amount of protein. The carne asada was tender, lightly seasoned, and offered a subtle smoke flavor from the flame grill. The chorizo was tasty. It offered a vibrant flavor that lingered in the mouth. Both tacos came with house made guacamole, which was very good, chopped white onions and cilantro. The salsa they offer is very good and offers a good heat level. The side of onions was a generous serving and were succulent and tasty. They came with an additional corn tortilla, which I gladly used to make a onion taco. It's the way I roll. The service was welcoming and friendly. The menu is on a QR code. I do hope they make a physical hand held menu or at the very least a sign with prices etc. They offer outside seating only and a very small parking lot.

On the left, adobada. On the right quesabirria. I also tried the carbs asada which was my favorite.

The food was delicious the service was very attentive. They have ample parking however we had a choice of two hours or 10 hours so parking for four tacos was $25. I recommend this place but go early and try and find parking elsewhere. It's exorbitant.

First time here and I wanted some authentic tasty tacos. I went on a wim and chose the vampiros. Succulent dripping Birra meat slapped with corn tortillas that makes it look like a sandwich. I did go toward the end of them closing but the demand of the food had you waiting in line for a true hearted experience of waiting for something new. They had a large outdoor space for eating, no indoor. If you go at night, bring a jacket, if you go during the day, it will be a bit toasty outside.

The tacos are really good here. My wife and I tried one of each, the carne asada, al pastor, and birria tacos. They are all loaded with flavorful meat, onions, cilantro, and the asada taco had a generous amount of guacamole on it. The chilis are a must have, they are grilled to perfection. The best thing for me was the beans in a cup, they were in the consume from the birria and yum! I would have given 5 stars but it was hot the day we were there and there was no place to sit in the shade. We will be back!

We ordered asada, chorizo and birria mulitas as well as an asada questaco and a birria vampiro.

Staff was friendly and very attentive. Food was all amazing, sad to find out that adobado is only available on the weekends, especially since that's the whole reason I wanted to go. I guess I'll have to go back to try it because I can't expect it to be anything but delicious. Staff was also very attentive and kind of love that they gave fresh limes and cucumbers with the food complimented the spicy salsa very well and was a welcome refreshing bite.

Left to right: asada, birria, chorizo tacos.

New taco joint in little Italy! It's only outdoor seating. When we came, they did not have adobada on the menu :(. We ordered the asada, chorizo, and birria tacos and quesatacos. All were solid tacos and packed with meat. The salsa on the tacos is spicy. The reason for the 3 stars is the missing adobada, slow service, and no grilled pineapple. Will probably try this again when they have a full menu.

There were a couple of groups dining in and someone picking up a to-go order, but there was still plenty of seating available. The employee working the counter was friendly. They also serve alcohol, and during my visit drinks were 20% off. Options included Pacifico, Modelo, Blue Moon, hard seltzers, and a selection of canned craft beers. I ordered: * Mahi Mahi Taco: the fish tasted fresh, and I liked the crispy onions on top. There was quite a bit of sauce, which made it pretty messy to eat. While the fish was good, it felt like a very heavy taco overall. * Surf & Turf Taco: this was loaded with steak and topped with two flavorful shrimp. The shrimp had an amazing flavor, and this taco was much more enjoyable and balanced. Overall, the service was great, the prices were very reasonable, and the protein quality was excellent. My only critique is that the tacos felt a little overdone with toppings and sauces when the quality of the protein could easily stand on its own. Still, it's a solid spot for an affordable late-night bite. One thing to note: there are no restrooms available inside the restaurant.

It's no secret that San Diego has tacos in…read morespades and being so close to the border, you'd think that a quest to find the perfect taco would be as simple as rolling down to the nearest taqueria. Except, it's not quite that simple. Many beloved staples have gone downhill, while some newer spots that might boast things like a Michelin mention or multiple locations ranging from TJ to Vegas contain more hype and gristle than tender meat and substance. Enter Chula Tacos. Chula is, and always was, the type of place that makes you forget that you're not actually in Tijuana. While part of me misses their OG Market Street location, seeing them with brick-and-mortars feels hard-earned and well-deserved. This location on Palm in IB is relatively easy to access from the freeway, but parking can be tricky. You can safely assume that it will be busy and you will either have to be very lucky or be willing to find a spot on the street. Out of all the times I've been here, it's always been crowded enough that I've never been able to find a table inside, but I enjoy sitting out on the patio next to the ahumederos. The first thing that hits you walking through the door is how amazing everything smells. The queue to the cashier takes you near a window showing the kitchen where you can see the Chula Tacos team making fresh tortillas, slicing meat from the trompos, grilling up jalapenos, nopales, onions, labio, and tripa. For me, it's not so much a challenge to decide what I want, it's more a challenge to keep myself from ordering everything. My usual is four tacos: two asada, two al pastor (but I've heard that I should also try their world famous keka). The tacos though? Perfection. Every time, the asada is the juiciest and most tender I've ever eaten, the al pastor is succulent and flavorful, and no taco in front of me is long for the world. At $3.50 each, every one of them is absolutely loaded. Three would honestly fill me up, but I always want four. After getting burned by spots that ask around 75% more and deliver anywhere between 25-50% less, Chula Tacos feels like an absolute godsend of a Tijuana-style taqueria and I can't see any other contenders being my go-to. So, when I say "Tacos will fix me," what I mean nowadays is "Chula Tacos will fix me."
