Ordered the grilled lemon grass chicken taco and tempura cod fish taco. The tacos had good toppings and sauces. Would need to order two or three for each person. The tacos came out super quick and the staff was friendly. The restaurant was dim inside and spacious. We didn't get the nachos this time but those were our favourite on the happy hour menu and margaritas.
I have been here a few times, but I think this is the first time I've sat down to write a review. First of all, great location with nice patio/outdoor seating! While the cars and traffic can get a bit loud, it's not too unbearable since the streets are not too busy. Came here on a Friday afternoon for lunch, and I didn't have to wait for a table. Service was very fast and attentive - I appreciated that the waiter kept coming to check on me while I was waiting for my friend to arrive. I got the lamb birria quesadilla, and it came with the consomme dipping juices. The quesadilla was delicious! While I felt like I couldn't really taste the lamb, the crispy cheese bits were standing out for me. I enjoyed the dipping sauce too. I will say though, that I found this dish to be very salty. It was a little hard to finish the rest of my quesadilla because I needed something to break the salt.
It's Wednesday! That means there's a special on nachos, yay! Got the guac to go with it. Love the toppings and the crisp chips!
Was recommended this place by a Vancouver local and it's just okay not bad but not great. The standouts were the size and the taste for the lemongrass chicken. Made it almost like a banh mi taco which was quite genius. Server and aesthetics were nice and industrial themed. Carnitas and fish taco were flavorless more than a baked potato. My girlfriend and I have heard of Tacofino many times since there are many of them in the city. Yaletown, downtown, Gastown, Kits, and even Mount Pleasant! We decided to give Mount Pleasant a try, and parking was a little harder than we thought. We had to park around 2 blocks away since it was all full. The interior was pretty cool, with a high ceiling and brick walls that gave off a cold vibe, along with hanging lights that balanced it out. I also thought it was interesting that there were plants under a hanging cage that was surrounded by hanging lights. The sitting was quickt, we sat at a table by the window, and it was a sunny day, sunny enough to brighten the mood inside. Since our goal was to try the tacos out, we did it in a tasting way. We ordered Pacific Cod, Tempura Squash, Lemon Grass Chicken, Mushroom Tostada, and Pork Grilled Pastor. Since every taco was around $8, we expected them to live up to their price, as most tacos don't have that high of a price elsewhere. Let me tell you, it did not disappoint at all. Pacific Cod was a very standard, classic fried fish taco. But the squash, grilled pastor, and lemon grass chicken were very interesting. We loved the carnita's tender texture and charred skins; we could taste that they barbecued it on the grill. Since my girlfriend loves squash, she really enjoyed the combination of sauce and ingredients in that taco. On the other end, we were recommended to order the mushroom tostada as it was quite popular, but it didn't turn out to fit our tastes. Overall, it was an interesting tasting experience, and we would definitely come back to try the squash and grilled pastor tacos again.
Great service here! The server came by numerous times to top up our water glasses without us asking. They also offer tasting portions of the beer/ale if you are not sure what to try. Not a flight, but literally tasters. The menu is simple, mostly tacos and starters. Lunch menu includes burritos. So get here before 3 pm if you want burritos. Dinner menu starts from 3 pm and happy hour is 3-6 pm. The fillings for the burritos and tacos are definitely fusion, not the traditional Mexican fillings. I like it. The lemongrass chicken burrito was delicious though the spice took me by surprise. It burned my lips as I was not prepared for that. I could not figure out what was the culprit as I could usually eat jalapeño slices on its own with no issue. In the end, I deconstructed the burrito and it was fine. I liked the crispy rice too. The chicken was very flavorful and tender. The queso fundido carnitas was equally yummy. Lots of meat in it. It was very rich and cheesy, best to share. Eat it hot as it tasted better than when cold. This location is a good place to chill in the afternoon. It is fairly quiet on weekend afternoon here.
Heard lots of good things about the food so decided to give it a try. Went on a Wednesday night with friends and their tacos were reeeeeeally good. Service was kind of slow for our table. Other than that, loved the size of the taco, quite big compared to some other places. And they had pretty good selection of beer on tap. 100% recommend there for the food.
Stopped by on a Tuesday and got the specials of the day, 2 cod tacos for $12 and a lager for $6. The cod tacos were delicious and an amazing deal for the size of taco you get! Our server was extremely nice and friendly as well. Great spot to eat and hang out with friends.
Service is simply okay, but the food makes up for it big time. My mom and I were looking for a quick bite to eat, so we decided to get one order of tacos (two 4 inch tacos) each. She decided on the crispy cod tacos. It took me awhile to decide because everything sounded good, but I eventually picked the grilled chicken ones. After taking my first bite, I knew I made the right call. Working from the base up, the tortilla was a circle of soft, floury goodness; the tamarind mayo slaw was creamy and refreshing; the chicken was tender and had a slightly smoky taste from the grill; and the edamame chimichurri added more texture and a burst of green freshness. I was also impressed with how much juice I got out of the lime wedges that the tacos were served with. I've been craving those grilled chicken tacos basically every day since I had them. Started off on Granville Island & couldn't find a suitable Happy Hour. One spot was charging dinner prices ... for HH!?! Bye! A suggestion to drive over to the Mount Pleasant neighbourhood to try - Tacofino Ocho - popped up. So glad we ended up here! I've been really hesitant to dine indoors anywhere because of covid-19 (recent outbreaks have occurred at various pubs & restaurants from patrons sitting inside) so I much prefer patio seating. Luckily the four of us didn't have to wait long! Service was prompt & spot on! Food was quite good & I could see myself coming back here. TO (no not Toronto) is located in a chilled out, quiet area you wouldn't expect to find it in. Tacofino started from humble beginnings in Tofino on Vancouver Island & has expanded successfully here in Metro Vancouver. Many Yelpers would be familiar with Tacofino in Gastown. So hey if you're in the Mount Pleasant area & have a craving for Mexican food, pop in for a quick bite! Arriba!!!
Came to try this location of a chain taco restaurant. Interior of restaurant industrial style. We got a table for outdoor seating which are tables and chairs on the street. Tables packed together so not sure if this fits covid protocols for physical distancing. Menu had typical offerings margaritas with non alcoholic option, tacos, appetizers, salads. We tried the wings, cod fish taco and lemongrass chicken taco. Fish taco had nice crunch and filling. Surprised to see lemongrass chicken taco in this menu. Tasted fine but it's a Banh mi Vietnamese sandwich filling on a taco. The tacos have decent filling to wrap ratio. Wings standard type with bbq sauce, good portion. Doesn't seem particularly authentic place for tacos. Service was standard. At night the interior is more of a bar atmosphere. Overall low key taco restaurant with standard fare in the area.

I enjoyed my experience here! Ordered Happy Hour chips and dips and one Grilled Pork Al Pastor taco - both were yummy! Would happily come back for Happy Hour. The sangria looked great and if I drank alcohol, that would be my choice of beverage too. My friend also ordered the tortilla soup and smoked tuna ceviche. Strange that there are no hooks for purses in the bathroom but I did like that there was a change table. Loved the table we were seated at though the seats are hard without padding. There are Tacofinos all over town now, and they're all fairly consistent food and service. This Mount Pleasant location is quite nice. Well lit being on the corner of the block. Always check their daily specials and happy hour. I last visited on a Wednesday and ordered the nachos. It was a little different than traditional nachos - more saucy, crumbly cheese, and thicker chips. I had 2 tacos - al pastor and cod. Both were delicious. Combined with the nachos, it was enough food. 2 tacos on their own wouldn't have been enough for me, and I would've opted for a burrito instead. read more

Tacofino ocho in mount pleasant is in a nice location and surrounded by other restaurants and coffee shops. I came her for happy hour 3-6pm. I got their classic margarita and my brother tried their strawberry spicy marg. We enjoyed them. Also had a beer. Food items we tried: 1. the tuna ceviche which I highly recommend. It's taste fresh and goes great with their nacho chips. 2. Cod taco: my fave item at tacofino. My go-to! Always a good amount of cod. Great location, cool decor/vibe and happy hour is always a great time to go. read more
I'd eaten at various Tacofino food trucks before, but had never penned a review or visited this location, so here we are. I did an online take-out order for lunch one day -- I ordered the achiote cauliflower burrito (vegan; $11 plus tax) -- which was ready for pick-up 25 minutes later. The burrito was sizeable, packed with lots of crispy rice -- an interesting, heavy filling -- with plenty of cauliflower, slaw and carrots. Fairly tasty, but very dry -- this definitely needs something moist / liquidy to balance out the dryness of the burrito. This could be great, but I think it needs some work to really be an A-grade burrito. As is, it was just fine. High-quality ingredients, but not the best dish design. read more
The best value for your $ would be during happy hour. There is a small selection for food and some drinks that are a bit cheaper if you go between 3 and 6pm. Tacos are just okay, but I would definitely recommend the nachos. The portion size is great for sharing and I like how "fresh" it tastes, aka, how your expected tiny dish of salsa / sour cream is replaced with feta and a whhhhooooole lot of pico de Gallo. Amazing. So good. Have been back MANY times just for the nachos. The ambiance is great, on the weekend they were playing hype hip hop music. If the music is bad, I always wanna leave asap, but if it's good it's our queue to stay for another round, haha. read more

Had late lunch here on a rainy Wednesday afternoon and got seated right away as the restaurant wasn't full. Tacofino's latest branch is very pretty, airy and spacious. I love the high ceilings and the exposed kitchen. Parking was a bit tricky to find on the side streets but with a little patience and luck, you'll find one. Their menu is a bit different from the Tacofino Commisary where we always go but it's nice that they offer different things in different locations. We ordered the two tacos - Grilled Chicken Thighs (hubby's) and Crispy Cod (for me). What we noticed that the soft taco shell was quite small and just one. The chicken and cod were big portions for the taco so it was a bit messy to eat. Flavours were great though and my cod was cooked well. We also ordered their Esquites (roasted corn) it was just ok -- they served it shredded from the cob already and I found it too wet (it was swimming in the oil from the mayo) and tasted a bit flat, it needed more flavour and dimension to it. Lastly, we ordered their Chips and Dips (guac, salsa fresca and roasted vegetable salsa) -- all three salsas were great but some of the chips were a bit overcooked and harder. Service was ok, can be spotty at times but nothing to complain about. Although if I were to choose between Ocho and Commissary, I'd definitely pick Tacofino Commissary. read more
This was our first time at the Ocho location. Their outdoor patio is spacious, but without any barriers. For our bites, to start, we got their nachos. Standard across their restaurants. We also ordered their tacos, which you get two 4-inch tacos per order. We got the crispy cod, grilled chicken, carnitas, and lamb. We also got the queso fundido, which refers to "melted cheese," served with more tortillas. This one was so tasty! For drinks, we got the kombucha, the virgin ginger (forgot what it's called but very gingery), and their El Cesar (the Sunday special)--drinks are nothing special. We had good service, so overall a nice dining experience! read more
I m quite happy with this location of tacofino. I went for happy hour and had a great local brew from Brassneck. I also ordered corn chips with ceviche. It was all so fresh. Service is great...friendly and efficient. I also like the open warehouse feel. I will def return and try more items on the menu. They follow good protocol during Covid times. They do contact tracing and offer safe distancing. read more

Placed an order of nachos for pickup at a specific time 6PM (2 hours before wanting to pickup). Called them 1 hour before stated pickup time and the host politely stated that the food has been already made and they could not push back the order time. Upset about this because we did not want our nachos to be cold and soggy the manager came on the phone. Ridiculously the manager lied and said the food was not made and would be made at our specific time. After telling her about what the host just said she did not apologize and said they would ensure the food be hot and ready when we arrived. Trusting her (My mistake) we went and picked up the food. The food was terribly cold and soggy just like we thought! Nachos Review: Terrible. One of the worst nachos I've had regardless of it being cold and soggy. Service Review: 2 star. Perhaps they don't know how to manage the current CoVid situation; but dang service is awful. There was one guy working hard and cleaning all the tables (Added star for this guy) while the rest were lazily walking around doing their own thing. People outside had no idea what was going on as there was no order to sit or place an order. Saw many people leave in frustration. Manager Review: 0 star. Purposely lies. You pay for the vibe, hipster/young adult, but the nachos were terrible. Hope their tacos are better. Overall:Go to Taco Bell and you'll get better service and food than this overpriced place. read more

I came here for lunch one day and the service was fast and friendly. I ordered the fish tacos, bean and cheese burrito. The fish tacos were great but the portion was so small. The bean and cheese burrito was also good but not amazing. My partner ordered the carnitas burrito and said it was very dry so beware. Overall I was happy with everything and would come back if I am hungry and in the area! read more
My first time at this location as I usually dine in at the Gastown location. The food menu is slightly different than what I remembered from the other locations. Masks are mandatory in the restaurant and lots of distance between tables as the restaurant was spacious. The restaurant has simple and unique decorations (very vancouver "hipster" vibes) and is organized. My friends and I ordered their pacific cod tacos (which come with 2 in a order), chicken tacos (without Chimichurri) and ceviche during happy hour. The cod was slightly cold and ceviche did not have much albacore tuna. The server did not provide much service, but more so just took down our order and brought the food to table. My usual experiences at Tacofino is pretty good, therefore was surprised when my experience did not remain consistent to the other locations. read more

Wait whaaat? Vancouver yelpers can be really mean sometimes! I was very surprised to try Tacofino, then see it only has three stars here on yelp! We visited during happy hour on Saturday, and everything we tried was fantastic. I might even bump this up to 5 stars if I come back and have a similarly awesome experience. - The cod croquettes were good, but once you dip them in their sauce, they are greeeat! - The ribs were seriously tasty! The meat just fell off the bones, and it had such a deep, rich flavour. Yums. - We tried the fish tacos and the chicken thigh tacos. Both were a little messy, but delicious. I spotted that many of the folks that gave this place 1 star said that it was too noisy. If you come back, come in the afternoon, as it wasn't too busy (or too noisy) it was just a great place to relax and fill our bellies. read more

This place has terrible tacos and burritos. Very uninspired dishes, terrible appetizers and horrible drinks. I've given this place multiple tries because I wanted to think it was good and because it's one of the hand full of restaurants in my work area. I would not recommend dining here unless you like disgusting over priced food that's supposed to be Mexican. read more
Honestly, I was pretty disappointed in this location as I absolutely loved the Hastings Commissary tacos. Unfortunately, the menu items here fell short of my expectations, as most of the food was average or below average. Although the food wasn't great, our server was absolutely fantastic, so shoutout to him. Prices were decent, and it came to about $70 before tax for four people. We came during Happy Hour, so some items were cheaper. However, note that they only serve burritos before 3pm, as after that it is take-out only. They have the option to make it into a burrito bowl, and many items are vegan or can be veganised. The venue is pretty loud though, and the tables are rather small, but I liked the interior design. There is also a Purebread right across the street, where I went to satisfy my sweet tooth right after this meal. Nachos (4/5) My brother really enjoyed this, and the portion was really good for the price. There was an abundance of toppings, and the tortilla chips were very crunchy. We got this at the Happy Hour price, which is honestly a steal. Vegan Tamale (2.5/5) This was my first time trying a tamale, and I'm in no hurry to order it again. The tamale was pretty doughy and dry, and it was a little bland. It wasn't terrible, but it was rather disappointing. Empanadas (2.5/5) This was okay, but I wish the empanadas were crispier. It was very soggy and doughy, although the filling was okay. The sauces weren't my favourite, but I'm just not the biggest fan of lime. I did like the guacamole though, and it was a pleasant surprise since I've never had guac before and I hate avocado. Sweet Potato and Leek Taco (1.5/5) This lacked flavour and was quite one-dimensional. I didn't really enjoy the flavour and I didn't think that the components of the taco went well together. The taco itself was pretty bland, to be honest, and I didn't like the leek nor the chimichurri. Charred Rapini Taco (0.5/5) This tasted extremely bitter and was just not good at all. The texture was very one-dimensional and the taco was even more bland than the other one, if that was even possible. It tasted like raw broccolini without any seasoning that was wrapped in a tortilla. It was, sadly, a massive disappointment. Grilled Oyster Mushrooms (3.5/5) These were decent, but I didn't like the herbs on top, and the oil/sauce that they used was a little strange to me. It was slightly spicy, but we all had no idea what it was. The mushrooms and corn were okay, but nothing super mind-blowing. My dad enjoyed the tortillas, and he even had two just by themselves. Vegan Burrito (3/5) This was okay, but nothing special. I do applaud them for having more vegan options though. This was a limited time item (Feb24-Mar1) for Vegan Week, so I had to try it out, but it fell a little short of my expectations. This was advertised as a lentil burrito with red chorizo style tofu, cabbage and kale slaw, vegan chipotle mayo, black beans, cucumber relish, and pickled pumpkin. I liked the lentils and the black beans, but I wished there was more of these two components instead of mostly raw vegetables. I don't think that I got any tofu either. The mayo was okay, but a little too strong for me. I didn't like the cucumber relish or the pickled pumpkin, which tasted strange to me and didn't really mix well with the rest of the flavours. This also came with rice, which was not advertised and which I didn't really enjoy since I'm not a big fan of rice. Overall, this was a disappointing experience. I won't be coming back to this location, but I will be going back to the Hastings location because the brussel sprouts taco is to die for (the cauliflower taco is pretty darn good as well). read more

Food was good, but service could have been better. The host was super friendly, but our actual server was attentive at first and then kind of disappeared. By the end of the night, we were asked three times if we wanted our bill, even though we had already said we had wanted separated bills the first time. Our original server didn't even end up doing our bills and instead it was another server. That aside, the tacos were pretty good. Although the tortilla was small, they did top it off with quite a bit of meat. However, I think I have a preference for a larger taco (like at their Hastings location) versus the two small ones. Also their menu is quite small for dinner. As well, they only serve burritos for dine in until 3 pm. I thought this was kind of odd and was a bit disappointed that I couldn't order one. Overall, I think I prefer their other locations just based on previous experiences with those ones. read more

By far my favourite Tacofino location. Hands down. The tacos here are more what I'm used to but definitely not Tacofinos signature massive tacos like the ones downtown. But that doesn't matter because the flavours of the tacos are amazing. Like seafood? Order the grilled squid taco. It will not disappoint. I always make sure I order the grilled squid no matter what my friends order because the way they grill this squid is just.so.good. The pork belly is also another highlight. It was fall-off-the-bone, melt-in-yo-mouth type of way. Great dish to share! Will definitely be back. I've heard amazing comments about the rockfish, chicken and steak! read more
