I'm not sure what happened but the new person who groomed my dog in mid-March had no customer service skills at all and did a terrible job giving him a haircut. When I showed up for the appt the Closed sign was showing - I asked if they were open and she barked "Can I help you?" I said I had an appt but was confused because the sign still showed they were closed. She repeated "Can I help you?" She was grabby with my dog who felt nervous around her and she said that she might not be able to work on him. I assured her that he settles down and has been fine there previously. Anyway, I should have just left. She hardly trimmed or cleaned up his mouth, the hair was still super long and she gave a terrible cut above his eyebrows the hair hung clumsily in his eyes. A month later you'd hardly know he had a trim. What a waste of $80 something. read more

My cat is VERY good at a groomers. She stays still like a deer in the headlights. But even given this very cooperative cat, they couldn't shave an even side to save their soul. I asked for a lion cut but they left off shaving anything that was difficult to reach like her underbelly and her legs. The price was rather high as well. read more

Awesome place to go, it was highly recommended by a lady I met at the Lacey dog park and everything she told me was true. The staff was friendly, professional, affordable, and very gentle with my dog. The only down side is they are so booked with appointments that it took a month to be seen. I've only been here twice now. Both times for nail trimmings on my pup. First time they took him back and I didn't see how it went but everything checked out and was ok afterwards. This second visit I held him myself while they clipped his nails and somehow someway the woman clipping his nails clipped his carpal pads that do not have a nail. I didn't pay close attention to her clipping because; A. I assumed she's a groomer and knows what she's doing B. I was completely focused on trying to calm him down because this doesn't seem to be an easy task for him to endure. The carpal pad is the highest pad up on a dogs (front) forelimbs. I don't know if this young woman was just going too fast and it was an accident or deliberate or why it happened. I did not notice immediately, but when I got him home I noticed some red on my backseat where he sits for car rides and checked and saw that the corners of these carpal pads were clipped. I don't know if this is a common thing for groomers to clip or why but I called my vet and they said that pad shouldn't be clipped there is no nail attached to it. I have tried calling this shop since but cannot reach anyone when I do so. I hope they see this, I'd like an explanations to why this lady clipped my poor puppies carpal pads. He's confined to a cone and bandages until they heal and uncomfortable. Not ideal situation for a healthy puppy. They are not wearing masks. The owner says they have permission, as she also said they got permission to remain open during the governors stay at home order. I just spoke to Pierce county Health, and they were not given permission, and they MUST wear masks. Go elsewhere, they messed up my dogs cut because Mary got my dogs record confused with another dog. My cat... *sigh* she is a handful to say the least. She isn't really a "people person" so grooming is a whole thing. Tacoma's best is fantastic, especially considering my fluffy white terrorist unleashes the wrath of Hades if anyone tries to touch her fur that she doesn't know. The ladies here are patient and do a great job. In my opinion they don't charge enough for the work they do. I do hair for humans and it can be difficult at times. I couldn't imagine if my clients tried to bite and claw my face off. If you have a cat they also try to get them in BEFORE all the big scary (adorable) puppies come in too. My wife took one of our dogs to get his nails clipped. She said the older woman who clipped his nails did a good job and was gentle with him. My wife didn't snap until she had put him up on the table that the woman was NOT wearing a mask. This review would have been more in the 4-star region but the lack of a mask brought that down. I would think that a service coming into contact with the public would adhere to the County's mandate, at least for the peace of mind of its customers. Bad move. We WON'T be going back. read more

I went in to get my cat groomed about a month ago and after extensive vet visits costing us well almost $1000 our vet has come to the conclusion that our cat contracted ring worm and a derma yeast infection from non sterilized clippers. My cat has lost 1/3rd of her fur and has been through trauma at the vet getting blood drawn and her skin scraped for labs. I have tried to call many times now and i get zero answer. Not only am i livid due to the health of my cat but the fact that clippers are not being properly sanitized during a PANDEMIC is even more dangerous! How many other pets have contracted the same diagnosis!? How many more pet owners are going to be spending their savings treating their cat during a financial crisis?! A $50 trim is not worth it please rethink going to thus groomer...for the safety of your pet and wallets! read more

This was my first time using a pet grooming service. Maisie the cat needed to have a close cut as part of her treatment for a skin condition. Making an appointment was easy and Maisie was dropped off without incident. When I picked her up later she was perfectly contented and clearly at ease with the whole process. I was just expecting an all over shave, but the groomer went to great lengths to make her look like a tiny little lion with a jaunty pompom on her tail. Maisie looked a picture. Just got our cats back from here and one came back with a bloody paw and I checked it out and all the nails in the front are cut way too short and look splintered!!! Not ok!! I'm not sure how the other cats nails look because she is currently hiding under the bed, per usual. No one wants to see their animal come back from the groomers with injuries! The owner insisted on giving me a quote over FB, instead of making an appt. stating she likes to keep her appts. For grooms. I told her my dogs weight, breed,fur type, and sent a picture. After the first grooming, the groomer told me it "may" go up by $20 because he's big and has a lot of fur. I asked for the owner to contact me, she never did. When I made his next appt., it was never mentioned that his price would increase- it was the owner who set the appt. When I brought him to the appt., the employee told me that if I left him the price would be the increased price- when I gave push back and explained once again about the quote from the owner, all three employees began arguing with me and attempted to gang up on me and refused to honor my dogs grooming appt. and we left. This is not how a price increase should have been handled, and it's not about the money- it's the principal and how this was handled is wrong. After I left without my dog's appointment, without him being groomed; I contacted the owner and she said it's hard to honor quotes after the first visit and she allows her employees to treat customers poorly because they're invested in the business. Okie dokie. I can see why this business is a 3 Star business on Yelp. By the way, the groom for my Goldendoodle was a C- at best, but was going to give them another chance. Wish I hadn't. read more

We've taken our two toy poodles here twice now and both experiences were great! I felt comfortable leaving my boys in their care and felt ecstatic when I arrived to see them both waiting patiently in the kennel together, totally unbothered and not stressed out one bit! This is my first time here. I called and had a last minute haircut for my cat. The lady was very nice and she welcome me to come in despite it being last minute. The haircut took about 10-15 minutes. Everything seemed pretty well cut but after going home I noticed deep sharp cuts under the belly and by the arm pits! Definitely not the results I was looking for. I guessed you do get what you pay for being $38.00 not including tax. If you're looking for a budget haircut and shitty results this is the place for you. I have found a permanent dog groomer for my two dogs. I recently rescued a Shih Tzu that was badly neglected prior to his adoption. I was nervous about taking him to a groomer because he had been through a lot in his previous home. He was nervous and shaky while waiting in line. The lady that checked him in made him comfortable when I passed him to her. He had a shaggy unkempt style when I dropped him off and a hot spot I couldn't keep him from scratching. When I came to get him he was a new man! He had a "cute puppy" cut, smelled wonderful, and he hasn't scratched at his hot spot since. I was informed that during his grooming, an overgrown toe nail was found embedded in his paw which was promptly removed. He had his nails trimmed at the vet the day before (most of his nails were embedded in his paws) but this nail must've been missed - this groomer pays great attention to detail. read more

I have been several times to have my dog's nails clipped. I have tried other places in town, but I keep coming back here. My pup hates to have her nails clipped and they make her feel as comfortable as she can while having her nails done. They are quick and do a nice job. And aren't expensive. They last time I went in, I was avoiding it because my dog's nails were so long! But they didn't berate me, just said it would be better for my pup if I came in more frequently. Done. I only give 2 stars for taking my yorkie after hours. I wanted a wash nail trim and the hair around her feet cut. That's it. But nails was the main thing I needed done. She did the nail trim only but a horrible job! my yorkie nails are still long and are sharper than what they were before. The price is just the freaking icing on the top $12! Never Again!!! She was super sweet enough to come all the way to my home and fix her up for me. I did ask her after she was done if that was one of the worse jobs she had seen in her opinion and she agreed yes and especially to a groomer that was doing this for 10+ years. She had to use a reverse blade to try and correct a lot of the choppiness in her coat and tried her best to have her looking pretty ... I had an odd experience here and won't be back, unfortunately. They recommended scheduling first appointments of day to avoid excessive chaos for cats as it gets busier throughout the day with dogs. We dropped our cat off upon opening and they estimated 2hrs to return for pickup. Other grooming appointment have been 30-45mins at most. Upon pick up the little man seemed extra scared. Our cat is the most docile, loving cat, even when he needs a bath, still a gentle giant. Once home, I noticed several clipper scrapes on his thighs to result in bleeding. I observed this place to be a factory where they pump out as many haircuts as possible with no true care or affection for animals. Hopefully, I am wrong and just had two bad experiences here. I have a 19 year old cat with a bad bum leg and a horrid limp. She can no longer clean herself and the mats became to much for me to simply brush out. I took my cat here and was very nervous. I have never had my cat groomed and I was terrified that her leg would be injured more. Mary and Stephanie (I hope that was her name) Did a great job. I wasn't looking for a hair do. She ended up having a portion of her shaved. They were gentle, let me in the cutting area to help hold down my very angry cat, and understood the leg issue. I was so thankful my can't wont win any beauty awards, but they brushed out the smaller mats, used clippers on the bad ones. Mary and Stephanie worked well together and I would bring my cat back to them. My only wish would be that the animals that are waiting to be picked up, be kenneled in a separate space. (hard to do with a small shop.) I t was a bit traumatic (for me) to have the dogs barking knowing it was freaking out my cat. somethings can't be helped. If this is your first time having them groom your animal, stick around. They are fine with it and they understood. Thanks again for the great service. My husband and I just moved to Tacoma not two weeks ago and our wheaten terrier, Henry, needed a bathing and a good brushing. I always do my research on grooming places because I want to make sure my dog is going to be taken care of and in good hands. The reviews were good and I walked in to schedule an appointment instead of calling so I could see the environment first. The lady who helped me was so friendly and helpful and fully explained their services. Henry went in today and an hour and half later was done and he looked immaculate! The staff was great with him. The pricing is so reasonable. The only thing I would say as constructive criticism is their nail filing. His nails were filed but were super sharp and when I picked him up and in his burst of joy to see me, jumped up on my arms and I got cut from his nails which drew blood :( I would have given it five stars because this place really is great but I do think the trimming of nails needs a little improvement. read more

This is by far the best groomer in Tacoma. They take care of my Boston terrier/french bulldog even though he is difficult and at times obnoxious. The staff has always been quick to accommodate an appointment or get him in for a nail trimming. The service is excellent and always worthy of a tip. This is REALLY Tacoma's best pet groomer. I take my Cavalier there and she actually doesn't mind all the fuss. I've observed how the dogs "on the table" are treated and the employees are patient and loving with the dogs. I would highly recommend this groomer. Just had both of my Australian shepherds groomed at Tacomas Best. I loved it! Both of my boys were very happy with the people that bathed them. The staff was so nice and attentive to my concerns. The cuts were great and still kept their beautiful feathers like i asked. The hygiene trim was great and she tried her hardest to comb out the mats-which were bad from an allergic reaction that made my dogs incredibly itchy for a period of time.
