We first took our dogs to Spotted Dog upon moving back to the area after ten years away. Our initial experience was very good. The groomers are skilled and gentle. More recently however, our interactions there have been quite frustrating. I was 15 minutes late taking our dog in (I had written the time down incorrectly). I understood it was my fault, but asked if they could just give her a bath, rather than the full groom. She is a large dog, and the appointment normally takes about 2 hours. I was told that one of the groomers had called in sick, so they were short-staffed and would not give our dog a bath. The gentleman proceeded to tell me that I would be charged a "no-show" fee, despite the fact that I was not a "no-show." As a result, I could not get our dog in until the 5th of February. By this time, she had some mats (she was NOT completely matted). They refused to spend the time necessary to brush her out, but insisted that the only way was to shave her to 1/4 of an inch. I protested, since she is an older dog who likes to spend time outside and we are still at the end of winter. There was no willingness to work with me. I was charged $160.00 to shave my dog, plus a $50 "no show" fee for the date in December. Though the groomers generally do a lovely job, I am afraid the owner/management has forgotten the art of customer service. read more

Being new to the area and having a new dog in the household. I wanted to go around and check out local groomers. After getting my son's haircut, I noticed the pet grooming location. Decided to go in and look at prices for cuts and washes. Immediately was told a price and then the older gentleman inquired about the kind of dog I had. After telling him I had a miniature poodle, he then continued to tell me "I am no longer accepting new clients". It was really a WTF moment. Why tell me the price and why ask my about my dog. I will forever be indebted to this place. I started my day off normally, but on my commute saw a young man with a "Re-home" sign near a store entrance. He was kind & explained his family had too many dogs and their landlord began imposing fines. Candy is possibly a terrier mix, weighing at most 25 lbs. She was matted and he explained she was kept mainly outside. I had to take her. Since the family didn't chip her or have any vet records, the big box groomer was unable to see her but recommended Spotted Dog. I'm so glad they did! Everyone was so kind, and one of the groomers came outside to meet her since she was skittish. She explained what would be the most basic things she could do and what could be done, if her temperament allowed. She also informed me of the potential for a hematoma due to the condition of her ears. We coaxed her inside after she asked for another client to be crated and they went to work. Another worker even recommended a vet! Thankfully, Candy was shaved, bathed and had her nails done. She did get a hematoma and they bandaged her up. They were so communicative and educational, calling and texting me about what they were doing and when they'd be done. I'm so grateful for their speediness, kindness and willingness to help in what was a pretty urgent and unexpected situation. I'll be bringing both my dogs here from now on. read more

They got me an appointment within 3 days for my Standard Poodle, which surprised me because usually groom shops can't get Standards in that quickly, at least not in the shops I've worked in. (I've been a groomer for 6 years and this is the first time I've ever taken her to be groomed by someone else.) They charged what they quoted which was $75. Usually the minimum at my old groom shops for a Standard is $100, so I was pleasantly surprised, though y'all might be underselling yourselves a bit! My partner tells me they were playing with my girl when he went to pick her up, which made my day and hers, too, I'm sure! My only complaint is that her ear hair wasn't plucked out and that is usually Standard procedure for most grooming salons. The day of, we get a call that we needed to reschedule because the groomer went home (understandable life happens). We rescheduled for the following Tuesday. Tuesday comes and with it being the first time ,we brought vaccination records but the receptionist didn't even look at it or do anything once given. The groomer comes out and asks what we liked etc. and asks my dogs age and inspects his tongue. Then proceeds to tell me that due to the color of my dogs tongue and age that he "might" get a heart attack (my dog gets checked up regularly and nothing of the sort has been brought to our attention) and that she felt uncomfortable. I have paid $130 - $140 for one of my dogs to not have received an ear cleaning. I thought that it may have just been overlooked the first time, but whrn I approached them the second time after seeing the goop in her ear, the groomer complained that it was too hard to get into the ear. She had acrylic nails and she also did my other dog who had her ears entirely cleaned. I tried doing it with my nails and a wipe and got it fine. Since I wasn't feeling well, I couldn't argue anymore so I left. Another thing, one of the things that I like about my dogs coming here is that they get to smell good for at least a week with the scent of their shampoo. Their scent only lasted a couple of days. I'm not sure if everything was done for their routine as was planned. But my dog's bottom area wasn't very clean either. After giving directions, I still received this as a result. This was not a one time occurrence. Be careful where you take your dogs to get groomed. read more

I was SO impressed! From booking my appointment, dropping off my dogs and all the way through pick up I continued to be impressed! Friendly loving groomers. My doges were nasty and matted from a long winter, but when we came in there was no scornful eyes or judgements. They were welcoming and loving to my dogs and me. I am giving 2 stars because the groomers are great here and very friendly, but the customer service and scheduling is not good at all. I brought my dog Charley in at 8am to get washed, and I still had not received a phone call at 12:00, so I called and left a voicemail and I still had not gotten a call at 1pm. I called again and the guy at the front said they tried to call me twice, and even text me. I asked what number he had, and he told me a wrong number, then he told me the other number they have which was my correct number, which they have ALWAYS called me on. I got annoyed because the excuse was "sorry we just didn't have the right number". No, you had my correct number, and another number that was incorrect, but you chose to just call the one that is incorrect instead of my number that you call every single time. When I went to pick up my dog, he said the same thing he said on the phone, "sorry we had the wrong number". And I said "but you also had the right number". When I said that, I got a nasty look from a short lady standing next to him with a baseball cap on. The groomer who brought Charley out was very nice, but my dog is already skittish and he seemed traumatized a little bit, to the point where we had to cancel his training session we had for later in the day because he just seemed exhausted. One thing that irked me was how after this mistake that was shoved to the side, the guy at the front kept telling me my options for tipping. Are you serious? I like Spotted Dog groomers, but there have been a few scheduling errors already and we haven't been going long at all, so I am on the hunt again for another groomer. read more
