We've been bringing our two mini schnauzers there for a couple of years, with generally good results. That changed this visit. We were told that the groomer who normally does mini schnauzers had left and someone else would groom our dogs. That person apparently had no idea how to groom a schnauzer. The boy had his beard shaved completely, but little tufts of fur were left sticking up on top of his snout. It's horrifying. Leave a schnauzer, get back a rat terrier. The girl dog lost her eyebrows. Looks weird, all I can say. It's generally at least a year for the beard to grow back and it'll probably take me that long to calm down. They'll never go back there again. read more

I have been taking my dog here for three years now and I have had great experience with the only person that I would ever see working there her name is BREE SHE IS AMAZING! Before, knowing that Bree was no longer working there and actually opened up her own groomers doggy spa I had scheduled to take my dogs as usual upon arrival, I was greeted by a lady named Amandaa come to find out. She is the owner. I was a little taken back because I was always greeted pleasantly by Bree. So I had asked is Bree in today and the first thing that I found unprofessional and rude because of the way it was said from this lady Amandaa she goes "oh Bree yeah she doesn't work here anymore and she opened up her new groomers right down the street without giving me notice. (In an unpleasant tone) I had got bad vibes from this lady because she was not warm or welcoming and she just seemed angry. With hesitation having a bad feeling of leaving my dogs there. She proceeded to be snobby as I was explaining to her about my dog's conditions with responses of I have been doing this 29 years. I know how to care for dogs and Saturdays are our busiest days she then grabbed my dog by the collar and immediately put him in a kennel which my dog has health issues and Bree is the only one who knows this and knows how to care for him so he was not used to that. Long story short I left feeling uneasy and not comfortable with doing so, but I had to turn around because my gut was not feeling right and I picked him back up and the first thing that came out of her mouth was really?? Well did you call Bree? And I politely said no I just don't have a good feeling and I would like my dogs back. For that reason since she has been doing it for years, I think she's quite over it with her attitude and I would not recommend bringing your dogs here. On a good note Bree opened up her own doggy groomers. About five minutes away. It is called DIVINE TIMING in LAKEWOOD. I brought my dog there today and he was so happy to see her and did very well even though he has seizures. He didn't have one seizure that should tell you a lot by How patient and caring she is towards animals. This place is amazing. I have a longhaired cat named "Kiwi" who was dumped off on me by a friend who moved to Arizona about 4 years ago. This cat has always been a bit of a Hellcat to deal with being she was a stray "community cat" for a long time and had never fully become domesticated. I've had difficulty getting her groomed in the past and was worried it couldn't be done due to her being so skittish around strangers. Well, we finally found a place that could groom her without issue, The Paw Spa! The owner, Amanda, said Kiwi was relaxed the whole time for her. In the past, the last groomer had to have 2 people hold her down while Kiwi fought them off. So, I was quite happy when I got the call an hour after drop off to come pick her up, and that she had gotten the full feline lion's cut. This is our second time bringing our cat to be groomed and I anticipate we will be using Paw Spa for many years to come! Our cat can have a bit of an attitude, what cat can't, but the staff at Paw Spa must be miracle workers because they groomed her no problem! She has gotten a "lion cut" both times and done very well. Both times the cut has been stellar with no missed spots. She came home smelling fresh with her claws trimmed. Was she a little mad at me? Sure. I chalk that up to being a cat in the 21st century. Paw Spa also passed the smell test. I have walked into so many animal centric shops that smell either like poop or industrial cleaner. This place smelled like shampoo and happy puppy. It's long overdue rating this place. I've been here three times now with three dachshunds all at once. They have always been able to squeeze us in the schedule even though we made it the day of, and they do an amazing job overall. Today the girl working even painted our girl wiener dog's nails because she reserved the souvenir suit ties for our two boys. So attentive to my furry old friends needs. Gave him a wonderful haircut and even made sure he continually had water at my request due to his kidney issues. Very professional and helpful. My dog also had a snagged dewclaw and Bri even gave us this stuff called Quick Stop to apply to his nail if it happened to start bleeding- free of charge. Additionally, on his second visit, I had to pick him up early due to an emergency and he had only had a bath and not been groomed yet. I requested to at least pay for his bath but they told me not to worry about it until he came back for his full grooming. They were also able to squeeze him back in the very next day. We've had issues with past groomers shaving too much of her coat, which is not recommended for that breed. They have experience with breed, and it showed in the results. We had been putting off taking in our 2 year old golden retriever to get groomed but the mats in his fur and his long nails were getting to be too much. Paw Spa got us in very quickly and had our sweet boy all cleaned up within hours. I am so impressed with the extra detail they put into cleaning up the fur around his feet and his big fluff butt. He came home smelling so great, had a nice clean cut underneath which is perfect for the upcoming summer heat, and even a 4th of July bandana. I've been going to paw spa for 4 years now. Always had great service and still do. I have a small poodle, shihtzu, Maltese. Her fur gets very matted and fluffy after a few months. I usually bring her in every few months or sometimes as little as a twice a year. They have never complained about my dog as other places have. Things I look for in a grooming service are: overall experience, haircut, cleanliness, and attention to detail. 1. Making an appt has always been convenient and easy. The service from greeting to goodbye are always professional and friendly. 2. Haircut is always even, brushed out, haircut appropriate to what I was requesting for, for my breed. 3. The place is kept up and clean, it smells clean and my dog is bathed and smells fresh. 4. Her nails are always cut and never sharp. Fur on the paws are always cut with extreme detail, never a piece missing. Anal trim and belly trim (female), and armpits, shaved close for a cleaner look. Overall, I give this place a 5/5 because I can't find another place that pays attention to detail in all 4 categories. I've been meaning to write a review for a while now, and remind myself every time I drop my pup off, but keep forgetting by the time I get home with my clean little guy! Amanda and her team are awesome. I'm so thankful for people I can trust to leave my dog with and know he's being treated well and groomed properly. We've used other groomers in the area before and he's had consistent issues each time, including them not trimming nails short enough or cutting them too short so they bleed, improper gland expression (leaves him irritated), too perfumey, etc. At Paw Spa, I haven't experienced any of these issues. Bradley is always remembered there and he gets so excited when I pull into the parking lot. I love knowing that when I pick him up, he will come home smelling good, feeling good, and looking good. He was recently diagnosed with a serious illness that can be worsened by a number of things including stress and even minor injuries. I'm always confident that he will be safe in Amanda's care and she has been so awesome with making a few small accommodations for us. And she is affordable! 5 stars!! read more

TOTALLY love this place! Called day-of and made an appointment, even though she was pretty busy. I really appreciated that.. our Airedale Terrier, Sir Winston, was hot, bored, and overdue for a trim. We brought him in a few hours early and were welcomed in. So many pretty dogs were running around playing! It sounds like chaos, maybe it is a little, but it's awesome! I'm very protective and worried about Winston being in a kennel for a long time, and seeing he would get to roam and play made me feel great. You can tell that the staff here absolutely love animals, and that's a plus. We returned at the end of the day, and everyone was far from frazzled after grooming so many pups. Winston ran up and oh my! how handsome he looked! He had a bandana on, and smelled lovely. His coat was sleek and he was such a happy boy. I really wanted to like this place and with all of the great reviews, I really thought I would. The staff is very friendly and the shop is very welcoming. The first time I took my dogs, I was very disappointed in the cuts. I have poodles and I assumed the groomer would have a good understanding of a poodle cut however this was not the case. I figured this was due to miscommunication therefore I decided to give the groomer another chance. I also noticed some clipper burn on one of my dogs. Again this can happen from time to time so I decided to go again. I took my dogs again, this time providing a picture of what cut I was looking for. Again the dogs came out with less than impressive hair cuts. What made me decide to see a new groomer was the clipper burn on my dogs tail. The burns are so bad that my dog is still struggling with the pain 4 days later. Accidents may happen, but to me, this seems just careless. Hair grows back but burning my dog each time?? Enter Amanda from The Paw Spa. Amanda has been doing Kisses' (my dog) mane for some time now. She was part of another shop and branched out on her own. Rightly so as she is the best. Throughout the years I have wanted to try different "do's" for Kisses and Amanda has helped me out creating different looks. We finally settled on just shaving it all off and it's adorable because she looks like a little bear cub. Because my parents began to suffer from "empty nest syndrome" I passed Kisses off to them under the condition they would always bring her to Amanda. They have kept her promise. Wish I could say I'm still a huge fan of this place, but my 2nd visit was such a totally opposite experience that I don't think I'll be returning. I had an early appointment to drop my dogs off to be groomed for our gender reveal shoot the next day. I intentionally made the appointment as early as possible because I had to get to my ultrasound appointment. I sat in the parking lot with my 2 dogs for 20 minutes waiting. Apparently they forgot about the early appointment? The lady was pretty unapologetic about it, too. Granted, she was very sweet to my dogs as usual, but I was irritated. I had called ahead to tell them that they were being groomed for a gender reveal photo session, and I wanted our male dog in a very blue scarf and our female dog in a very pink scarf and I would be happy to purchase said scarves ahead of time if they didn't have any on hand in those colors. The girl assured me that she was going fabric shopping the next day and would be sure to pick up some pink and blue. When I dropped them off I asked to see what they had, and it was 2 very gender-neutral patterns. I was disappointed, but didn't have time to buy new scarves by this point. The grooming itself was ok. I will start this review out by saying that last time I took my dog here, it was great. But this time, it was awful. I asked for a trim for my dog, and she cut his hair way too short, but that's not a big deal. Hair grows back. My poor doggy has several cuts and bald spots from where she shaved him way too closely. Totally love this place!!! My boyfriend and I take our poodle Jasper here every Saturday! Everyone is extremely sweet and very accommodating. Jasper loves it there. I am comfortable leaving him because he not only gets an amazing bath and grooming session but he is loved on and well cared for. I definitely recommend this place. I used to really love this place. The service and prices were great. However, like others have said it's true that sometimes the owner does not show up when you have a scheduled appointment. I had an appointment scheduled for my dog and it was supposed to be the first appointment of the day. I sat in the parking lot waiting for about 30 minutes and nobody showed up to open. I left frustrated and later on in the day I called and left a message about the situation and I never got a call back. I've been bringing a couple different dogs to The Paw Spa for about seven years or so now and around two or three times a year. Ever single time I'd say they did exactly what I asked for and expected, both dogs, either my Pom or Aussie always look great when they get picked up after an appointment. I also get the feeling they actually like animals and enjoy their work at this place. Prices are also fair, I've tried grooming myself and it's not very easy.
