This is our go-to spot in Bethesda! It's such a fun environment and feels like an oasis away from the crowds downtown. The staff is always great, and Gigi goes above and beyond for her guests. We are OBSESSED with the red hot sauce on the tables--it's good on everything on the menu. And the agua frescas are a must in the summer heat. I came here excited to try a new place and hoping for some yummy vegetarian options. The corn esquites is delicious--definitely composed of fresh corn from the cob and not canned corn, as another reviewer suggests. The flavor is excellent, and the creamy mayo, tangy lime, and shower of parmesan combine to create a piquant and toothsome dish. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for the vegan burrito. The veggies had a wet, mushy quality, as did the rice, and the overall feeling was that you were eating a soggy, uninspired tube of vegetal matter. Tacombi should take a field trip to the nearby Fish Taco to try their vegan burrito, where the textures are distinct, the flavors strong, and the avocado present without a $3 price tag. The servers were pleasant, though I'm not sure this is the kind of place that warrants full restaurant treatment. Overall a decent spot that probably has a handful of standouts, especially if you eat meat. Frank L., pleeeeease don't respond. The ambiance and setting of Tacombi are nice but honestly it ends there. My review is reflective of the food, experience and lack of value. Considering the cost of each item on the menu, one would expect and hope for good quality food - but this was not the case as everything was extremely underwhelming and rather bland..... $15 for refrigerated pre-made guacamole without a single bit of cilantro or jalapeño in it? The best taco I tried was the Al Pastor, but even that was bland and none of the tacos were dressed up with toppings (cilantro, pickled veggies, etc.). As a condiment and hot sauce lover, the selection of 3 sauces on the table were extremely bland as well. For a simple meal that ended up running about $100, I can honestly say that you are better off going to Gringos & Mariachi's or BarTaco; for the flavors and value. read more

Yes, this place is expensive for a taco shop but you knew that as soon as you saw the menu. I'm happy to pay a little above average if the tacos are good and in this case I thought they were great! Especially the crispy fish taco, it was well above average and they give you a huge piece of cod (see picture). I'm really amazed to see so many 1-star reviews. The agua frescas were really refreshing, their salsas were unique and tasty, the homemade tortillas were excellent. Been twice and will definitely be back again! read more

Fantastic little restaurant! Cute outdoor seating when the weather is nice. Service was great. The portions are very filling. We ordered both the crispy fish and seared fish tacos. The amount of fish was surprising in the best way. I also ordered the adobada burrita. Delicious! The server advised this might be smalller than burritos but it had a lot in there and was worth it. Stopped by Tacombi on a whim the other day after work because I realized it was finally open! Overall a solid meal! I tried a few of the different taco opens including the Al pastor, carne asada, fish and one of the vegetarian options, as well as the side of the corn. I enjoyed pretty much everything and it definitely hit the spot in terms of the taco craving. While not quite like the taco trucks back west, tacombi hits the spot nonetheless. read more

Restaurant atmosphere is a great set up! Big open space, bright colors, half inside/half outside so perfect place to go to when it's nice weather! I wish I could've sat there all night eating the chips and guac there! Shrimp and carne asada tacos were fabulous! I enjoyed the spicy sauce it came with and the corn tortillas! My friends and I had the privilege to visit Tacombi for their Cinco de Mayo fundraiser. This was the best experience we have ever had on Cinco de Mayo. The service was impeccable, everyone was extremely nice and attentive. Although we loved everyone I want to make sure I highlight Mya, Gigi, Mackayla, and Julia. These young ladies were nothing but a joy to experience that day. They were all so kind and helpful to us, the minute Mya saw us she made sure that we were taken care of every chance she got. They even took pictures with us before we left! The service alone is the reason I will always rant and rave about Tacombi. Now onto the food, it was very good! They had unlimited tacos and margaritas which was such a great time for Cinco De Mayo! I personally never really enjoyed tacos before but after this, they're one of my top favorite foods. The Birria tacos are so delicious and the gringa quesadilla is so cheesy and flavorful but my favorite thing has to be the watermelon Agua Fresca!!
