Man, I was just praying there was room in the parking lot and there was one parking spot open just for me! I ordered two Carnitas tacos and they were bomb as always. The place was really busy and I got my food super fast. It was probably about 5 o'clock. One thing that was really nice was the cashier. I think it's the Daughter of the owner tiny little girl, but super super nice, kind eyes, very welcoming. I actually decided to sit and eat my dinner there. Was in the area after a good day at Boomers and decided to give this place a try. It was pretty good and the twin girls managing the restaurant were ON IT! Salsa was the best thing there, and even that was mid. I came immediately after they opened, the beans were still hard unfortunately and ruined the tacos. The beans aside, I remained positive though. I must say that the amount of meat on the large taco is embarrassing, hardly any meat. If you like tacos that taste like only tortilla, this is your spot. They use double tortillas on tacos and they are thick, overpowers any meat taste unfortunately. This place has has potential but has a long way to go. People always say that San Diego has such great Mexican food because they're so close to Mexico... Wow, I've been to lots of Mexican food places in San Diego, and Tacos Alex was my fave! This is what they mean by authentic street taco. You don't come Tacos Alex, for the frills, or nice ambience, but you come for a delicious taco. There is no ambiance, and the restaurant appears to be a bit run down, but that does not change the quality of the food. They are very authentic, and have flavors of taco that are known in Mexico... Like Lengua and Tripa. I'm a sucker for Al Pastor. They had the meat on the spit, and it was all very fresh. Very simple menu. I can't decide what the best part was: the next level BEANS! the delicious meats! Tacos Alex is a nice little family run taco shop. Very small inside, but they have some seating on the outside. They offer a nice simple menu. I got two lengua and two birria tacos. You have the choice of size.. street size or reg. The order came out quick. The lengua tacos were so flavorful and cooked perfectly. The birria (beef) were also good and came with nice size portion. The tacos come with beans which is a added touch. Salsa has a variety of salsa's from mild to HOT. Added bonus is their grilled onions and peppers at no charge. These are the BEST TACOS IN SAN DIEGO! I come from the Central Valley and haven't found any tacos close to home until now! My husband and I ordered a Torta de Asada and 2 Tacos of Each of the following (Carne Asada, Lengua, Birria), they were DELICIOUS. Accessibility: they have one accessible parking spot and the store is on flat ground from there with seating indoor and outdoor. The only issue is that there is very little parking so I saw people without a disabled placard or license plate park there to pick up food. Experience: again, the parking lot is WAY too small and it is right off a main road with fast moving traffic. If you can't find room in the parking lot you would either have to circle the block until someone leaves or you would have to park on a street around the block and walk/travel a good distance to get here. That's a bummer for me. Besides this, the food was pretty good. They have tacos, quesadillas, tortas, burritos, aquas frescas and Mexican sodas. I thought this hole in the wall place should be good but it was so bad that I want my money back! Maybe it was because it was close to closing time but my tacos came out super underwhelming. The taco shells were pale and barely even warm. I ordered the grande tacos but these were the size of a normal street taco. I didn't want to do this but I've called many times and they don't answer the phone. I really love tacos from here but on Friday night I had 3 tacos de buche, with in an hour later or so I started feeling very sick. I was vomiting every 30-45 min and runs all at the same time,12 hours later I'm still feeling sick. Cramps, chills, vomit. It felt like a horrible hangover x's 10 that wouldn't go away. I'm constantly calling them to let them know and no answer. That particular night they only had about 3 choices of meat as well. It is now Sunday late afternoon and I'm still not fully recovered.
