Yeah, so this place is definitely worth the drive. I pass about 20 taco shops between Oceanside and San Marcos just to go to Albertaco's. Their California burrito is one of the best. It's sizable and the meat is always fresh, not chewy, and very flavorful. The best part is you get everything included with the burrito (AS IT SHOULD BE) like sour cream, guac, and pico. No paying to add those onto an already generally expensive burrito. Don't you hate going to other places and paying $18 for a Cali burrito, and then having to pay $1 or more per ingredient to add sour cream and guac when a Cali burrito should definitely already include those items?! Amirite?!? Tacos are great too! Lots of options for both meat eaters, pescatarian, and even some vegetarian options. This location has a drive-thru and is usually pretty quick. I was in San Diego County a couple of weeks ago, around 12:30 AM on a weeknight was starving after a long drive. If you're in San Diego, you already know you have to get some rolled tacos, so I found this spot and decided to give it a try. I got three rolled tacos two chicken and one beef and they were SO good! They were loaded with meat, and they were definitely not stingy with the guacamole or cheese. I actually preferred the chicken, but I loved that you can mix and match. Three tacos with no sides came out to under $10 but they do have a combination plate. I think that was probably like 12 or $13 which is an amazing price for the portion. I could only finish two because I still had a long drive back to LA, but I definitely could've eaten all three! I also loved the little hot sauce packets you poke a small hole and squeeze it right onto your food without having to deal with those messy cups. The drive-thru was convenient, service was great, and the food exceeded my expectations. When I got the food, there was a small amount of guacamole and lots of sour cream which I did not ask for. Because of this the guac was hard to taste and the food was just meh. We came a bit after midnight and there was 1 person in the kitchen and 1 in the front. I saw someone else order ahead through the phone and they didn't have to wait inside. Look, I had many carne asada fries but no where comes nearly as great as this place. The fries... THE BASE of it and it low key tasted like mcdonalds fries but without the chemically taste if you know what I mean. You gotta add cilantro ( there is a charge but so worth it) and you gotta eat right then and there. (If you take it to go, just re heat it in the air fryer and it's still good) One of the things why I believe its top tier is the fries doesn't taste freezer burn nor the meats, so you know it's fresh or at least it's not expire. I wish we have this place closer to San Clemente but I'm definitely going to try to get it when I come down to hang out with my bestie. Services were really quick since there wasn't a rush when we got there and after our order was ready, the rush came in and I wanna say almost everyone got the carne asada fries so you know it's THAT good. I've been eating here for many, many years and I've never once been disappointed. The food is always super fresh, delicious, and incredibly quick! Service is usually great too, and it being open 24/7 is such a huge convenience. My go to order is the California burrito and while it's a little pricy, it's SO good. I love adding the green salsa to every bite, but it's spicy! The red salsa is good too, but the green one has my heart. I also love the carne asada fries, but it's a /huge/ portion so I typically only get it when I wanna share. They have great crunchy ice and yummy drinks too! I usually get a coke, but the horchata is super good! My partner is partial to the Jamaica drink, but I wasn't a huge fan. Parking can be a little annoying when it's busy, but it's usually not bad. Loooove Albertacos. Hands down best Mexican fast food place. Not only are they open 24/7 which is incredible, but the food is top notch. Friends and I have been coming here for the last 15 years and will keep coming back. They underwent new ownership in the last few years, but the food has remained the same. The drive through line is usually long but the service is quick, no matter what time of day. Considering they make the food fresh and have it ready within minutes, it's impressive. The staff is super friendly and they have a salsa bar inside or you can request salsa packets at the window. The restaurant inside is nice as well, although I often drive through. My go to is the rolled tacos and I ask for them soft to bring a different texture. The quesadillas are huge and delicious, the kids meal chicken tenders my daughter loves. Carne Asade fries are a must try, always so fresh. Anytime someone enters the building, they can smell the cleaning chemicals, which should be a good thing (we know they're making an effort to sanitize things). Sometime back in 1990s this was one of our favorite Mexican Fast Food restaurants. Then, one day we had a really unpleasant eating experience way back when while dining inside. That kept us away for far a long time. Even so, every time our daughter comes down to visit, it's straight to Albertacos for her and her family. They love the food and service. Last year I decided to follow her lead and try the food again, and I was impressed. That is until today. Today I ordered the Chili Relleno Burrito. I'm pretty sure it was the best I've ever had, anywhere. I now regret staying away from their yummy food. I've missed out on it for far too long. I'm now back and once again a big fan of theirs. Normally I'm used to them handing me the pin pad and this time I was not. I was not given a receipt as well but I do have the transaction purchase. I hope they have better transparency for over charging customers. I have always been a customer but after this experience I'd rather not come back. I usually eat about 1 1/2 soft tacos and am satisfied. The tacos were really small. They had yummy guac, cilantro, onion, and salsa verde. The pollo asada taco was not good. The chicken looked like it was pre-packaged white meat thawed from frozen. The flavor was not good - it had a really fishy aftertaste. I was still hungry after finishing the 2 baby tacos for $4/each. They didn't have pickled carrots or a salsa bar. The burritos were listed for $18/plus - yikes. For the cost, I'm not a fan and will not be back.
