Taco Tuesdays awesome, the big-ass burrito is as described. Only wish they kept Negra Modelo on tap.

The service is the worst I've ever experienced. The food is mediocre. A female bartender by the name of Parish was absolutely rude and unaccommodating to our party of five. Apparently Parish feels it's more important that the restaurant has a good experience rather than the customer. She leveled a list of complaints at us, such as talking too loudly, sitting in the walk way, etc. I felt I was in Bizzaro World, and wanted to say "I'm sorry you had a bad experience, is there anything we can do to improve our patronage?" (BTW, we were NOT talking loudly or sitting in the walk way) On the way out the door, another party of about 7 people overheard our situation, and chimed in that they had a similar experience. Parish lectured one of them on "the proper way to place an order at a restaurant". They won't be back either. Neither will we. Note to management: Rude wait staff causes customer loss. The food is so-so. My pork taco was like eating leather. The chicken taco was good. The chips were too thick, like a stale cracker. The salsa was more like a mole, or came from a can. Mi Mamacita's in Mandeville has far superior food, and the wait staff is superb. read more

I came here from California and let me tell you, these tacos tasted as good as the Mexican Tacos back home and thats very hard to come by. The service was very friendly and attentive to my needs. Yes knowing it is Easter I went to tacos and beer here in Slidell. I am from out of town and have had great service and experience in the Hammond location. When arriving at the Slidell location we came in a party of two sat down for a good 5 minutes were not greeted or even acknowledge. Two females were to busy playing around with their friends that were at the bar. One finally said are you going to get them. Then a blonde female came and slammed two menus down, didn't introduce herself or anything. Then she proceeded to take her friend and go outside. Yes we could see her with her friend from the window they were standing in front of. Not even drink orders were taken, nothing. Nothing but rudeness. Suck for this server, because I was a server myself and tip very well. read more

After a few days playing tourist in New Orleans we decided to get out of town and see some other sights. Stopped for a bite and a beer in what appeared to be the only place open in Slidell. Great beer list and delicious Mexican food!! What a great spot! A huge shout out to the friendly waitresses - one of whom told us how to find the Big Branch Marsh wildlife area. Boardwalk out into a bayou to see some wildlife. We found our way out there, walked about half a mile on the boardwalk, there was thunder in the distance which caught up to us sooner than we expected - next thing we knew the sky opened up and absolutely doused us with rain as we ran back to the car! It was a great adventure and we wanted to go back and tell them about it but didn't have time. Thanks and we will definitely come visit next time we are in the area!!! read more

So the food was great as was our server. We were told that they were Bringing our group their checks and we had to leave because we were taking up too much space. Really. By far one of my favorites! My boyfriend and I always go here and got to know all the employees and owners who are amazing! The atmosphere... 5 stars hands down. They always have great music, lots of people and amazing food! We always get the steak nachos and it's enough to fill us both just sharing it! Also taco Tuesday is where it's at! I know tacos and on the Gulf Coast, these are the best tacos I have found. We had the Mako shark taco (**** stars) a blackened strip of succulent shark with cabbage, pico and a chipotle sauce. Next was the lengua taco (***** stars) so moist and tender, it was almost a sin to put any salsa and lemon on it, but thats how I do. The chips and salsa are much more original than I am used to and the service was excellent. My biggest complaint is that I am 45 minutes from this place and cant get it in on my regular lunch rotation. read more

The food here is always good, but the service is the worse you'll find anywhere. Disorganized and the manager can be rude. We go there sometimes for Taco Tuesdays. Several times that we've gone my wife and I ordered the same thing - a couple of tacos with beans and rice. They bring my wife's order and it comes with a big bowl of beans and a big bowl of rice on the side. They bring mine out and the plate has a small scoop of beans and a small scoop of rice - same price. Whenever I ask why I get different answers, but the most consistent answer is that "they do what they want back in the kitchen." As I said, the food is good, but if you go there bring plenty of patience. read more

Had been a while since I had stopped in and wanted a taste of Olde Towne Slidell for lunch. Had the enchiladas this time and wasn't disappointed. The portion was more than expected. This is my favorite place in Slidell. There are surprisingly many healthy options on the menu (the seafood soup is my person favorite), as well as a wide variety of draft beer. The ONLY thing critical I can say about the place is that I've had to be patient for service a couple of times (and I was sitting at the bar), but the other times I've eaten there, the service was grand. I suppose everyone has an off-day; however, this place is somewhere I recommend for healthy, tasty food that is locally owned. read more

This is probably the worst Mexican restaurant I've been to. The staff is pretty friendly for the most part but the food was disappointing. The queso and salsa is almost watered down in a way? Very liquidy and runny. I ordered shrimp tacos but it was really cabbage with a side of rice. They load that sucker with so much cabbage it's ridiculous. Went just last Tuesday for taco Tuesday. They weren't very busy, meaning there were at least 4 open tables. My family & I had a seat. Not one person acknowledged us. A few servers kept walking past & "looking" at us as if we were aliens. I've been here many, many times since they opened a few years back. When we asked if someone could help us, a guy yelled at us and said they were busy!!! Well, I guess too busy for my family. They've been sucking in service for the past year. I only kept returning cuz the food is good. But the food has started sucking too. So now this place OFFICIALLY SUCKS!!! Seriously, don't waste your time, folks. read more

I was super excited to eat at this place because I LOVE tacos. However this place didn't take kind to my presence in its establishment. My boyfriend and I sat at a table for twenty minutes just waiting for someone to come over to our table. We watched them meet and greet others, and even stop at the table ahead of us twice. Need less to say I believe we were treated unfairly because I was the only person in the place of a different race. I don't recommend this place at all, and if you stand for anything you won't support an establishment that's ok with discrimination. The jerk in the black shirt couldn't even look me in the face when I asked if we would get service. Yet seconds after I walked off he was laughing and smiling with the guy at the bar. I've been to Tacos and Beer in Slidell a few times. Each visit the both the food and service have been above average. The Tacos Dorados are good, but could be a bit spicier-you really need to add some salsa to give them a kick. The Big Ass Burrito lives up to its name and is the size of a small island nation. read more

Tacos and Beer is a local restaurant/bar in the heart of old downtown Slidell. I visited this restaurant on a Sunday Afternoon for lunch. The location is great, a few bars and restaurants nearby and the Old Slidell Soda shop across the street. The area has a local charm to it. If you are passing through or live in the area, this place is definitely an option when looking for some grub while enjoying the downtown scenery. They serve traditional Mexican dishes, that taste great. I order the Chimi-Chingon, and I would have to say it lives up to it's name. My wife order the fish tacos which were equally delicious. The complimentary chips and salsa were great, the salsa had some heat. My kids ordered the cheese quesadilla which included a side of refried beans and Spanish rice. All that stuff was delicious too. The only thing I wish this place had would be some horchata. The staff was very friendly and provided excellent service. The seating outside is great for nice day, they even have a pull down shade on the very sunny days. I haven't experienced this location during the night hours but I imagine it's pretty cool especially when they have live music in the house. I'm definitely going to revisit this establishment for 2 reasons, get some beer and try their ceviche. read more

It's one of the best tacos I've ever had. Love the selection of meats, and the apps are just as creative and delicious. Service is truly stellar, one of the tacos i ordered was a fish taco, and my first bite into it was awful. It tasted like the oil hadn't been changed in weeks. They immediately brought out a new taco in a different meat at no charge. Great beer selection, and we love sitting outside enjoying the early summer weather. read more

Service was very good, unfortunately food was less so. Salsa had way too much vinegar and was too thin. Chips were good. Menu items have "cute" names which I believe they feel gives the restaurant an "out" to avoid complaints.
