Lobster and Shrimp Romano
Tim G.

The food was pretty good. The lobster and shrimp Romano could have had more ravioli and less sauce. The veal parm was also pretty good. The service is a tough one. Our original server was absent for most of the meal. My drink needed to be refilled for a while. However, the other server where we were seated helped out by actually doing our servers job. Our original server did show up when it was time for the check. We pushed our empty plates to the side and they sat there until the server that was picking up the slack again came to the rescue and removed them from the table. The ambiance is very pleasing. Very quaint and with a great view of the golf course. Very friendly, warm and inviting. We are definitely going to be back.

Lobster & Shrimp Ravioli

I absolutely love it here! It gets busy quickly, so keep that in mind! The Lobster & Shrimp Ravioli was delicious! I wish there were more ravioli noodles in the dish. I will definitely be back to try more!

This is a to go cup from Joe's a statement on a cup is a lie. They are not using local shrimp.

Last night, my wife and I went to Slidell to take care of something. We normally eat at Southside Café when we go over to Slidell we wanted something different last night so we headed over to Joe's. It was average at Best. I had the chicken Romano it was really good. My wife had chicken Marcella. This is a dish she normally gets at Bosco's and she point-blank said this restaurant chicken Marcella is not even near as good as Bosco's. This restaurant says it uses the freshest and the best ingredients for their recipes. That is definitely not true because they use imported shrimp and it clearly states that on the menu, why would you use imported shrimp when we live in a community of nothing but fresh seafood. Plus, why not support the local shrimpers? Last, but not least before I left the restaurant I went into the male restroom. It's stunk like they have not cleaned it in quite some time. I know they're moving, but they still need to clean their restrooms.

A locals regular spot w/ nice views abs atmosphere. The staff is really nice and welcoming. I highly recommend the ravioli or the lasagna. The meatballs were huge and the sauce paired with it is really good.

A locally-owned gem with Southern hospitality and delicious Italian food…read more Having been a fan of this restaurant a few years back, I was excited to try it again after recently moving back to the area. After a couple of unsuccessful attempts to visit on a Sunday (they're closed!), I finally made it on a Tuesday evening. I was promptly greeted and seated by the friendly host right as they opened at 5 p.m. Our waitress was welcoming and took our appetizer order right after our drinks. We were debating between the mozzarella sticks and calamari, and she recommended the trio, which included both, plus fried zucchini - a great suggestion! Soon after our appetizer arrived, the owner and chef came to our table to introduce himself and check on our food. It was a nice, personal touch that you don't see very often. While the service was a little on the slower side, it was clear that the small but mighty staff was attentive and making their rounds to all the tables. For our main course, we ordered the chicken parmesan, which was a generous portion, easily shareable for two, and came with a side salad. It was yummy. This restaurant has a certain charm with its combination of Southern hospitality and Italian cuisine. I would recommend it based on my experience. They also have some weekly specials (unsure for how long) : -Wednesday Family Night: Large 3-topping pizza for $11.99 -Thursday Date Night: The $5 corkage fee for BYOB is waived, and they offer a "share a bowl" upgrade for $5.99 (usually $9.99), which gives you two servings of protein instead of one. Overall, a wonderful dining experience that I'm happy to recommend.

It was very crowded and we had to wait a little bit longer than our reservation time but that was okay because we sat at the bar and enjoyed some drinks before our dinner. We went to Rome two years ago and at at Alfredo's that claim to be the birth place of Alfredo sauce and we loved it. This was just as good. The noodles were delicious and fresh the sauce was very good too. The wife loved her artichoke. For our meal I had the Braciole first time ever and it was fantastic my wife had the veal lasagna and she loved it. The house salads were amazing flavor and we finished with ice cream with amaretto and cool whip and bourbon pecan pie with ice cream. So much food left over. A true Italian restaurant. Atmosphere was loud and friendly and everyone having a great time visiting and enjoying themselves over a great meal . The way it was meant to be. We told the waiter of the problem and he said they knew about it and spray once a week but essentially it is what it is. No visit from the manager or anything to make the situation right. I had planned to have it for lunch the next day, taking time to crisp the edges in the air fryer before devouring the source of those smells - but alas, it was too great a temptation and I tried a small piece when I got home. Small, meaning like TWO OUNCES that had fallen apart from the main rib into the mound of pasta and chunky red sauce. Sliced garlic, chunky tomatoes, and the essence of beef all through it made for a pretty tasty side dish that I ended up giving to Tiff. I was saving room for the MEAT. So, that little piece that dropped off to tempt me was eaten and savored. It was soooo good. Still, I managed to save the rest of the rib for lunch the next day - I crisped that beautiful short rib up, as promised, and shared the pasta with Tiff - we had a delicious meal and both gave thanks for the food, for Leo and for Ashleigh, the awesome server who packaged the boxes up so beautifully and made sure we were well taken care of even though we took it home. Looking forward to my next visit to Leo's - short rib pizza anyone???

The main dining room is inviting and stylish in an understated way. Our server was super friendly and the food was excellent. We had an appetizer sampler to start - hubs wasn't fond of the thick batter on the calamari but also noted it was tender and tasty. My family is Italian and had Italian friends who owned a shop and made their own homemade Italian sausage... I'm not saying Mandina's makes their own but one bite took me back. I think the texture would have been better served in grilled chunks rather than the slices that tasted fried; the crispy surface area of the cut exposed interior wasn't bad but not my preference. Also included was fried stick of eggplant which was some of the best I've had. I ordered the veal parm for my entrée that was cooked perfectly, the marinara was exquisite and the perfect ratio to the veal and the pasta. Another entrée ordered was the shrimp bordelaise but switch the shrimp out for a veal cutlet which they were happy to do as my daughter doesn't eat tomato sauce but was eager to try the veal. The down side was that their bordelaise wasn't traditional bordelaise of the red wine sauce variety; the dish turned out to be like pasta tossed with garlic and butter and we wish we had known. When I asked the waitress if it would be traditional bordelaise she confirmed that it was, which was why we ordered it. That it turned out not to be was a let down. But all-in-all this was a great dining experience for all the right reasons. If you're like me and hate being stuck in touristy eateries, hop the street car down Canal and tell the conductor to let you off at Mandina's and thank me later.
