Came here to celebrate my daughter's first birthday yesterday. Unfortunately, both my toddler and one year old were not in the best mood. The server was extremely friendly and accommodating. He made sure to get the chips and salsa out quickly to help my hangry children. We were only able to order cheese enchiladas. But they were really good. The red sauce wasn't the typical tangy and spicy enchilada sauce, it was a bit sweeter (possibly a mole type sauce). This was our first time trying Tacos & Tequilas. After reading so many positive reviews, I really wanted to love this restaurant. There are plenty of Mexican restaurants in the area where we can choose to spend our hard-earned money and, just as importantly, our time, so unfortunately this first experience was disappointing. When we walked in, it was hot and humid and smelled like Fabuloso cleaner. I asked the host about happy hour and all she could tell us was that it ended at 6. We were seated, and several minutes passed before our server greeted us. We ordered drinks and asked for a water as well. We were ready to order our food, but first I asked her to confirm whether burritos were $12 that day, since their Instagram has advertised $12 burritos on Wednesdays as a daily special since June. She seemed unsure and said she would check. About 10 minutes later, she returned with our drinks and asked if we were ready to order, but never gave us an answer about the special. I had to ask again, and she then confirmed that the burritos were $12. We ordered our burritos along with a side of maduros. My husband had just gotten off the golf course and was very thirsty, but his water still hadn't arrived. Our server wasn't coming back around, so when the host walked by, he politely asked if she could please get our server. Unfortunately, she seemed to forget and went back to the host stand. A few minutes later, our food arrived, but we still had no water, silverware, or napkins. We waited a couple more minutes until we finally saw our server and had to ask for silverware and napkins so we could actually eat our food. She brought those over along with the water. We were already halfway through our meal when we saw her walking by again and had to remind her about the maduros. She said, "Oh yeah," checked on them, and finally brought them out. The food itself was okay, but the service was extremely inconsistent and inattentive. We shouldn't have to repeatedly track down our server for water, silverware, napkins, an answer about an advertised special, and a side dish we ordered. I really wanted to enjoy this place based on the reviews, but for a first visit, it unfortunately didn't leave us feeling like we would choose to come back, especially with so many other Mexican restaurants in the area competing for our business. read more

We swung in on a Tuesday night around 7:30 pm- half the dining room is empty and you could tell that they were clearly trying to keep that section closed off because they didn't have the staffing. The manager was going back-and-forth between being in the kitchen as well as seating people at the hosting stand which led me to believe that there must've been call-ins or scheduling has just been not great. We ended up being seated, but had to wait for them to clear off a booth because they didn't wanna seat in the other section. They clearly had closed off. We ordered our food, but our server seemed really disengaged like she was just going through the motions. Food came out super quickly. I did order a sparkling sangria that was nonalcoholic and it basically just tasted like Pepsi so not exactly sure what it was supposed to taste like but it definitely didn't have any sangria flavoring. My husband got a glass of water, but sadly you could tell that they must've either just got it out of the sink or just hand wash it because you could literally taste the soap. I got an order of the tamales, which were good. They definitely are a little spicy so be aware of that if you are opposed to spice, but the serving was large and I ended up taking it home to have for lunch the next day. My husband got the Carnitas and I will say the Carnitas seem like they were more shredded then they were previously. Overall, it was an OK experience. I've been here a handful of times and each time it's been consistent. This is definitely a locals' hot spot and somewhat of a hidden gem. I have given this place multiple chances, but the quality is just unacceptable. Today was the final straw. I ordered tacos, and the birria dipping sauce was literally just oil and grease. No flavor, no quality, just straight oil. The tacos themselves were extremely small and absolutely not worth what I paid for them. I truly wish I could get my money back. This also isn't the first time. The last time I ordered, the tacos were dry, the meat tasted old, and the tortillas were bland. The food quality has become consistently terrible. The service is just as bad. There is always something wrong with my order missing items, incorrect portions, or things I paid extra for not being included. I've had multiple times where I ordered a combo that comes with three tacos and received only two. You cannot leave without checking your entire order because something is always missing. The wait times are also ridiculous, even when the restaurant is not busy. The overall service needs major improvement. The dining room is honestly horrendous. It does not feel clean, welcoming, or well maintained. The entire experience is disappointing. The Pozole was only pork and hominy served with a small baggie of cabbage and really could have used the radishes and lime (as listed on the menu.) Definitely not worth over $20, maybe worth $12. The Chicken Soup was the greasiest chicken soup I have ever seen and also overpriced at over $19. (The picture is after having poured one layer of grease off the top.) I randomly stopped by this restaurant, and it happened to be Taco Tuesday! $3 tacos and $5 margaritas (real margaritas that don't taste like syrup). Simple but authentic tacos. Tacos and tequila is one of my favorite neighborhood go-to's. It needed a little work getting up and running and really good on its feet after the transition. I think they have finally found their groove and we will continue to enjoy the yummy food off the expensive menu but in an updated atmosphere. The bright colors and cozy booths make it perfect for dates, family, or group dinners. There's always something for everyone in the family. My new favorite item is the birria soup (the lunch portion is huge). Our server was delightful and she had so many great recommendations. Went here for a late lunch on Sunday. The menu shows lunch specials during the week and I saw chorizo and eggs and was hoping I could pay a bit more and get it on a Sunday but they wouldn't budge. Order the street taco combo instead. I had shredded chicken, shredded beef and carnitas. It comes with rice and beans. I am not usually a Mexican rice fan but this was really good. The beans were good but nothing special. OMG they have homemade corn tortillas. How was this not in any of the reviews. They are tortilla perfection. The street tacos came with salsa verde and it was delicious. It is not the same as the avocado salsa they have which was also phenomenal. The hot chips were great but their red salsa I didn't love it tasted like jar salsa. But don't need it because the avocado one is all I needed. My sister ordered steak enchiladas. She said they tasted a little off. I tried it and it smelled and tasted fishy. My sister wasn't going to say anything but I did and the server asked her if she wanted something else. The absolute best Mexican restaurant in the world!!!!! My husband and I frequent Tacos & Tequila every Tuesday and occasionally a few other nights a week. On Tuesday, you can't beat their taco and margarita specials. You can get a street taco for $3 or a supreme taco for $3.50. Margaritas are only $5 and are generously made! The birria tacos are my favorite, but there are several options to choose from and you can't go wrong with any! While their house salsa is amazing, their avocado salsa is the best salsa I have ever had. It is SPICY!!! though, so be prepared. While their tacos are delicious and phenomenal, the casa special is my favorite thing on the menu. With so many flavors, you can't go wrong with this classic Mexican dish. I love this place! Always good dinner and the best margaritas. I recommend the watermelon margarita. This time I decided I wanted something small so just got the app sampler. So much food. They always serve big portions. I placed my order for chili rellenos after being served the chips and salsa. Drink menu offered a Paloma.... My new favorite. The cheese rellenos arrived, and though hot, it held two bars of unmelted cheese. I pulled those out and set aside. The chili was also covered in melted cheese so it was not missed. Went here with a friend for a lunch and ate inside. They had lovely outside dining options but as my friend has lupus, we opted for sitting out of the sun. The food was very good but my drink was amazing! I ordered the horchata and my friend ordered the hibiscus. Let's just say, we asked for to-go refills which they obliged! The queso was good value and came with so many chips! They even packed up the table chips and salsa and included them in my to-go order, which I appreciated! The queso wasn't my all time favorite but certainly did the job and was tasty. The birria tacos also hit the spot! The shells weren't quite as crunchy (perhaps because of takeout) as other options I've had, but the flavor was great and they gave me plenty of salsa and consommé to dip in. I had the birria queso tacos with the consume which is like a broth. Very delicious and crisp. Then the ceviche was fresh and tasty served on top of a lettuce leaf with cucumbers and avocado. GREAT first visit! The food was excellent. The greeters were super-friendly and the server was above & beyond (Jessuel - probably not spelled right, but tried). The chicken fajitas are excellent. My son had the pulled chicken burrito...didn't leave anything behind. Rice and refried beans (which are vegetarian) were great. Absolutely NOTHING I can mark this place down on! Ambiance is bright and authentic. Plenty of parking. The place is clean. The people are a standout! ( At 19, Jessuel could be managing a restaurant.) They've got college and high-school age people working here...all were smiling, energetic and not on their phones. Assistant manager was very nice as well.
