Beautiful spread with great company
Jessica M.

Excellent food, service, and overall great time. The restaurant wasn't super packed but it was tidy. Dropped by with my gal pals after a hike at turnbull and we ordered a large ceviche de Cameron, a medium Coctel de camaron and 3 fish tacos with rice and beans, we had no idea how much food we ordered! The prices were very reasonable, the amount of food was generous. I left with lunch for the next day. The staff were very friendly. We mentioned we were sharing the ceviche and they made us 3 separate plates with tostadas so we didn't have to split it up ourselves. Overall wonderful time, the chilitos were great, loved the salsa too. Had a great time. Will gladly return!

Haven't been here in a long time, food was bland, no flavor. Fish tacos had nothing on them and were dry. Quality has gone downhill.

Tacos de Pescado and Tacos de Camaron

Excellent food. I had the Taco de Pescado and Taco de Camaron and both are so good at a great price. The fish was flaky and fresh. The veggies crisp. The salsa was super tasty. Friendly and fast service. Also, love the NO ICE sign. I will definitely go back again.

Best fish tacos in Whittier!

Once again, I cannot stress enough. How delicious this restaurant is and how affordable it is as well. My go-to's are always the fish tacos with everything on them. The fish is so crispy and the middle is so nice and hot. If you crave fish tacos. This is a place to go. The guys that are at the front are really kind and the ones that give you the food are kind as well. Just really good professional service. This location is relatively new for them, and it's really nicely decorated and it has a huge green TV with Latin music playing. The prices are affordable, and my family and I go all the time, and I've introduced all my friends to it as well. If you're looking for a good fish taco place or just a good authentic Mexican seafood place with all the other Mexican dishes, please visit Tacos Baja!

Man why hasn't anyone told me about this place before!! This place is fire !! We came in on a Wednesday around lunch hour , the place was jam packed!! Parking can be a little of a issue , small parking lot . But with the wait ! Service is pretty quick , and the prices are super affordable!! Seem they haven't gone up like every where else . They have tacos and mariscos . All look fresh and tasty . I got the tht meal with a shrimp taco and fish taco rice and beans for about $12 . Oh! And they have the yellow seasoned chilis up for grabs , no limit or charge !!! Will definitely be back!

Don't interact with her she'll give you an attitude, extremely rude.

If you want attitude from the women up front, come here. Other than that stay away from this place, you walk in and she has a stank attitude. Screaming and yelling upset that shes gotta do her job. Terrible. No customer service. Places says it closes at 7pm, with multiple people in their lobby saying "I'm only doing mobile orders." Avoid this place at all cost. Busted down looking joint.

Tacos Baja: combo 1

I first learned about Tacos Baja from the East LA branch om Whittier Blvd. Was randomly passing by when I spotted this location and decided to give them a try. Definitely a hole-on-the-wall kinda place that totally needs an uplift in the cleaning department, but the food is delicious. Purchased combo #1 plus an horchata and a Jamaica. The fish tacos were very flavorful. Loved the warm tortillas and the chiles hueros!!! The rice and beans were just ok. Would return for fish tacos and will try other menu items. The waters were over sweetened but most people like their drinks with this amount or even more sugar. Personally I diluted my drinks in half to deal with the excess. Definitely a spot to check out if you can overlook the grime and is down for a good bite.

Ceviche Mixto
Junior R.

Tacos Baja is hands down one of my favorite spots for fish tacos. Their ceviche mixto good as well--It's the perfect appetizer to start any meal there. Another highlight is their unbeatable fish taco deal on Wednesdays. The fish tacos are crispy, generously portioned, and topped with fresh cabbage and their signature creamy sauce. At such a great price, it's hard not to order a whole plate! The atmosphere is casual and lively, and the staff is always quick and friendly. If you're craving delicious seafood and amazing deals, Tacos Baja is definitely worth a visit--especially on Wednesdays!

We were in Whittier driving around looking for tacos. After striking out at our first stop we decided to give this place a shot. The place is clean and the shrimp looked fresh. The cashier was very friendly and welcomed us in. They do not have and Coke in the fountain drinks. On the plus side. They do sell Mexican Coke in the bottle:). The fish and shrimp tacos were okay just a little heavy on the batter. The food tasted fresh and not frozen.i do have my favorite, go to, fish taco spot.here in the South Bay Area. We will be heading back to Whittier to try out some street tacos that we're setting up when we driving. Hopefully we find a hidden gem. Tune back in to see what we found

Shrimp Tacos

Baltizar was a real professional and a real hustler, he went out of his way to make sure I was accommodated and even let me sample things to so I could be sure of what I was getting. Food was excellent and I will definitely make it a point to come again. Appreciate you bro

Fish tacos
Stef M.

The food is so good, everything is served fresh. I personally think the fish taco is excellent, the shrimp taco is also very very good. We actually love everything we ordered here. We ordered at the counter and picked up the food ourselves at the counter. The service is at the counter. Ambiance is casual, we cleaned up our table afterwards

Tacos de Pescado
Suzette V.

Stopped in for a quick lunch today and it did not disappoint. We had tacos de pescado this time but even the Cameron and ceviche is amazing here. Parking can be a little rough at lunch time but you can always park in the little plaza next door. Staff is super friendly. Everything was also very clean inside. One of our top lunch spots.

Jack B.

A solid spot for fried fish tacos, super delicious and on point. I ordered fish tacos a seafood soup and their shrimp cocktail. The tacos were delicious and mainly because of the fried fish. The sauce was excellent. The rice was about average and the soup was great. The shrimp cocktail was delicious and fresh tasting also. I'd definitely come back here again to try their other menu items.

This restaurant is in such an obscure location, I can't believe I was going to a Burrito Track across the street for so many years not knowing this place existed. Friendly staff and prompt service. The unfortunate negative is it's location and I'm referring to parking. There must be 8 business crammed into this lot. With a bar to the right and a laudermat on its left finding a parking spot is like winning the lotto. Now layer in one driveway and you have to make a 3 point turn just to navigate to leave. The short answer is I will absolutely go back to this place as long as there is a parking space to be had.

The idea was to enjoy my coffee while getting organized--paying bills, planning calendar events, and having the opportunity to focus without any distractions from my usual surroundings. In search of the perfect spot, I turned to Yelp, a reliable resource for uncovering hidden gems nearby. Upon stepping into the coffee shop, I was immediately greeted with warm hospitality, setting the tone for a delightful experience. The ambiance of the place was truly captivating--it was bright and welcoming, infused with an aesthetic charm that instantly put me at ease. I couldn't help but be intrigued by the design elements throughout the shop, which added an inviting touch to its overall atmosphere. Before I settled in, I asked the staff if I could snap a few photos to capture the essence of this delightful space. They graciously welcomed my request, and I was shown to my table, which, quite uniquely, was designated by a number--a small detail that I found charming. As I browsed the menu, I encountered a small conundrum: I wasn't entirely sure what to order. I wanted to break the mold and try something out of the ordinary. My curiosity was piqued by their exclusive offering of Café de la Olla--a traditional hot drink that piqued my interest right away. I ultimately settled on a hearty plate that included rice, beans, and enticing potato tostones, accompanied by two beautifully cooked sunny-side-up eggs. As I waited for my order, I noticed the café was filled with the sweet sounds of old-school music from the '60s and '70s, which only enhanced the cozy ambiance while I sipped my drink. Now, let's talk about the food! I must say, I rated the café itself a solid 4 out of 5 for its overall charm, while the rice earned a respectable 4 out of 5. The beans were rich in flavor and received a fair 3.9 out of 5. The potato tostones, delicately bathed in a savory red sauce, stood out with an impressive score of 4.3 out of 5--these are a must-try if you visit! And as for the sunny-side-up eggs, they were good, but hey, eggs are eggs, right? Overall, the entire experience was quite enjoyable, from the delightful food to the warm atmosphere. A special shout-out goes to Ana, whose exceptional customer service made my visit even more memorable. The combination of fantastic service, inviting aesthetics, and satisfying food truly made for a perfect morning retreat. I can't recommend this spot enough for anyone looking for a relaxing place to unwind and focus on what matters.

Their moles are definitely worth trying. We've had the mole negro and the mole pipián, and both were delicious. The mole negro is a little sweeter, while the pipián has more spice. They also serve tortilla chips with mole, which is something I haven't seen at most Mexican restaurants. The reason I can't give 5 stars is because the service has been hit or miss. We've been here three times. The first time was shortly after they opened. The food tasted decent but came out cold, and the service wasn't the best. It was during the week and not very busy, so we figured they were still working out the kinks of being a new restaurant. After some time, we decided to give them another try. We went on a busy Friday night and were seated right away. The service was much better and everything seemed to be running more smoothly. We talked with the owner who was working as well as his wife who was bartending. They were both really friendly, and the owner seemed genuinely happy that we came back after we told him about our first experience. He even gave my husband a free beer after we moved to the bar to keep drinking after we finished our meals to allow for other guests to dine at the table we were. There was also a trio playing that night which added to the ambiance and was a nice way to end the work week. Our most recent visit was a couple of weeks ago for my husband's birthday. It was during the week and once again they were short-staffed. There was only one waitress taking care of the entire restaurant. She was so sweet and hustling the whole time but she was also bartending while serving every table. We definitely had to pack our patience because she was doing the best she could. Overall, Sol 626 has so much potential to be a great spot. The food, drinks, and atmosphere are what keep bringing us back. They need a little more staffing so the service can be as good as everything else.

Even though the restaurant is small and busy, we were seated right away, which was a great start. Our waiter Washington, was fantastic, friendly, attentive, and made our whole experience even better. The atmosphere was perfect too. They had music playing at just the right volume and a big TV showing the live Dodger game, which the kids loved. We started with chips and salsa. The salsa had the perfect level of spice for everyone at the table. The kids ordered horchatas and were excited about the unlimited refills (something you don't always see at other restaurants!). The drinks for the adults were just as impressive. My wife's watermelon margarita on the rocks was perfectly made. It was not overly sweet or syrupy like at some places. Our friends had the "El Jefe" margaritas, and they definitely didn't skimp on the tequila! For dinner, everything was a hit. The kids loved their meals. Albóndigas soup, shrimp tacos, and street tacos--all served with rice and beans. The adult dishes were just as good. The carne asada arrachera was cooked perfectly, the chile verde was full of flavor, and my chicken mole was delicious with a great balance of spicy and sweet without being overwhelming. The portions were very generous, and everything came with rice, beans, and both corn and flour tortillas. The only small thing I would've preferred differently was the chicken in my mole. I personally would've liked a leg and thigh instead of sliced chicken breast but the dish was still very good overall. What really stood out was the hospitality. At the end of the meal, Washington offered us "holy water"-house tequila shots on the house--and it wasn't cheap tequila either! Then after the bill came, he surprised us again with another round of "holy water". That level of generosity and care really impressed us. We also learned that the restaurant has been there 20+ years and is family-run by him and his siblings, which made the experience feel even more personal. You can tell they have a loyal customer base--one couple even said, "See you tomorrow Washington!" The only feedback we'd offer (coming from a customer service background) is that we noticed a few guests waiting at the entrance without being greeted, and one couple actually left the restaurant. A simple "Welcome, we'll be right with you" would go a long way. That said, it didn't take away from our experience. Overall, amazing food, great service, generous portions, and a welcoming family atmosphere. We will definitely be back to try more of their menu!

I went on a taco run yesterday to try to find the best taco in Whittier…read more Started off the run with a keto taco mixed with asada and al pastor and then a regular tripa taco. Keto taco - toasted/grilled cheese instead of a regular tortilla - needed to be done a little more on one side as the cheese wasn't quite toasty enough to stay in place to slightly resemble the shape of a taco. Bit hard to eat, covered my hands in grease. Asada tastes almost boiled, and this being my 2nd or 3rd time getting the Asada here, it consistently tastes like it was boiled and not grilled. Unsure of meat quality or preparation, but there are no grill marks and it's a bit chewy. Same with the al pastor. Tripa taco was bizarre. Strips of flat skin instead of the usual roundish, cylindrical shape of tripa (intestine). Usually a saltier, fattier meat than asada, which is my preference but the one here was lacking in flavor and the texture threw me off a bit. Tripa can be chewy - unless requested extra done, which is how I normally order it - but there was no saving this tripa. I think it needs to be sliced differently, the cuts made it inedible. Brother shared some of his chorizo taco and it was the better of the bunch. Red chorizo, TJ style, although it was also lacking a teeny bit in flavor... onions and cilantro to the rescue! Still, mediocre. Salsas were ok, nothing out of the ordinary. Don't think the tortillas were homemade. Service was fine, cashier takes your order, dude at the counter was chill and had a friendly attitude. Seating was limited. Mostly bar style seating but the majority was in front of a window and it had so much heat trapped from the glass that it was kind of uncomfortable. Other seats are too close to the bathroom. Good for a quick bite or just pick-up orders. Wouldn't plan a sit down/dine-in visit. Parking is scarce and has really small spots, wouldn't come if you're driving a pick-up truck or anything like that. Food was reasonably priced, which is good, however; the food was lacking so I would not return.

A weekend brunch with friends brought me to Madre's Whittier, where the menu offered plenty of tempting options--and a few unexpected lessons about ordering seafood. I tried the Ensenada Omelet, loaded with shrimp, salmon, crab, and octopus. Now, I'm a seafood lover, but octopus and I aren't exactly close friends. I asked if it could be removed, but since the seafood mix is pre-made, the octopus had already RSVP'd to the party. The omelet was good, topped with a creamy sauce, but not something I'd order again. The crab appeared to be imitation crab, and while everything was prepared well, it just wasn't a standout for me. The real star? The strawberry pancakes. Delicious! Next time, I'd order those with a side of eggs and call it a win. I also sampled the chilaquiles, and now that's a dish I'd come back for. The Tiramisu Latte was another favorite--not overly sweet and packed with that classic tiramisu flavor I love. A special shoutout to our waitress, Annie, who was attentive, friendly, and made our brunch experience even better. My Verdict: Skip the Ensenada Omelet and build your brunch around the stars of the menu instead. The strawberry pancakes are the must-order item, the chilaquiles are a strong savory choice, and the Tiramisu Latte ties everything together. If you order wisely, Madre's delivers a brunch worth coming back for.
