Waited 40 minutes with how understaffed they are, half the restaurant empty. This seems to be normal as several parties were waiting as well. Fiancés French toast was OK, dry but sweet. I kept stealing bites of the plantains, which were probably my favorite thing we had. The hash browns were really good too. The food took a little while to come out, and my chilaquiles were a bit cold when I got them. They still tasted good, but I think I would have enjoyed them more if they had been hot. Overall, it was okay. I think I expected to be more impressed than I was. I went to madres brunch in uptown Whittier couple times now. I enjoy the food I usually get the chilaquiles "the green ones are my favorite". Also tried the birria sandwich, parfait and pancakes. The coffee is a hit and miss I feel like I haven't found one that I really like. The hot chocolate is so good!! Location is not that big but they do have several tables. The food was underwhelming. It is unfortunate. I wanted it to be good as it was for a special occasion. The portions are small and again they focus on presentation and pretty dishes. I would have preferred a smaller menu. I would have liked to have a more flavorful meal. I had pancakes, bacon, and scrambled eggs. Bacon was not a good quality, super thin. Pancakes were less than average. They could have come out of a box. Eggs moist. My husband had chilaquiles and they were not appetizing at all. Small portion. Salsa was in a tiny plastic container and could have come out a jar. Coffee was good . This recommendation for the owners is to make it better so that it can be here for years to come. Simplify your menu. Review each recipe for flavor and portions. Maybe make a weekend brunch menu special and make it delicious. Try better quality ingredients. I was here to celebrate my daughter promoting from elementary. It's been a place I been wanting to go but was worried....it was all hype. Let me tell you it's not. Service amazing all the servers were friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. I had the madre's chilaquiles and they were delicious. The sauce is home made has a little kick to it. Presentation is beautiful but taste matches it. My kids loved the experience and my hubby enjoyed his meal too!! Cleaned his plate ...glad I got a picture before. I had the chilaquiles & hubby had the Popeye Omelette with a side of hash browns, which had a whole different spin from the traditional hash browns. Ordered the Steak & Eggs, a 10oz flat iron steak, two sunny side up eggs, country potatoes, and toast. The steak was cooked a perfect medium rare, but lacked a strong sear and needed a bit more seasoning for my taste. I found myself adding salt to bring out the flavor. The sunny side up eggs were cooked well, with set whites and rich, runny yolks that paired nicely with the steak and potatoes. The country potatoes had a good texture, soft on the inside with crispy skin, but also needed a little more seasoning to really stand out. The chile de árbol salsa had a nice kick and helped add some much needed flavor to the plate. Toast was okay. The slices were a bit thick, so the center stayed too soft and did not get as crispy as I prefer. Overall, the brunch was decent and executed well texture wise, but leaned a bit bland for my preference and needed extra seasoning to really shine. read more

For the price, the portions are fairly hefty so make sure to come on an empty stomach. I got birria on the side because they initially forgot to add it until I asked, and the birria was tender and good. The pistachio latte here is a bit sweet, so I personally wouldn't order it again, but definitely would come back for the food. Fyi, theres a parking lot with 3 hours free parking behind the restaurant which has less flowing traffic compared to the street, so I would park there. read more

OMG SO GOOD! It's like being back in Mexico! From the outside, to be honest, it looks kinda weird but once you sit down and start eating, it all makes sense. Portion size was good but the food was ok. The house coffee was horrible it tasted burnt, my husband had the Mexican coffee and he said there was a weird after taste. The service was good. Staff was polite but didn't really check on you. And nothing like having a waiter blow his nose and not wash his hands after, just continued to serving his customers. Our first impression was that the vibe was a day club x 1980s diner, IG ready backgrounds x Betty boop mural, quite an interesting combo. The food was good but a little under seasoned for our taste, but easily adjusted by adding some condiments/hot sauce. Flat white is on par with what is expected from a brunch spot.
