Came here on a Wednesday night at around 6pm and we were greatly pleasantly by the taco truck person. The truck is parked opposite to two main roads near a gas station. We ordered the chorizo taco and super quesadilla. Both were delicious. The quesadilla was served with rice and beans which was a pleasant surprise. The food was cooked fresh and took about 10 mins to arrive. The seating area is quite nice for a taco tuck. They had fairy light. Overall great place near the Berryessa Bart station.

Wanted to like this spot as it's near by. But it was just ok. Birria needed the consomé to dip the taco with every bite. Carne asada just lacked seasoning. Also their sauce needs a lot more spice. It is a food truck and service was quick. Location is at a gas station. Though they have seats there it was just dirty so we ended up eating in the car.

My go to taco truck. We love the quesabirria from here. It's always busy so prepare to wait. But always fresh and tasty. We also like their burritos. They give great service, nice and understanding when we have a long order. They have tables to eat at and it's covered from the elements. They have condiments and self serve chips. I love that they are next to Olivera Egg ranch to be able to park easily and grab some eggs or drinks.

Menu was all blurry and had no prices. Lots of parking and good amount of seating. Quesadilla: 4/5 way too oily BUT love that they included beans and rice on the side. Al pastor tacos: 5/5 Carne asada tacos: 4.5/5, bit dry Tripe tacos: 2/5, wayyyyy too dry and over cooked in oil. Felt like I was eating Jerkey

Carne asada and cabeza hard shell tacos 9.5/10. Sooo good.

The crispy tacos are so, so, so, so, so good. We went on a hike nearby and our brakes started to overheat so we pulled over and we just happened to be right next to Tacos Buenrostro. We had other plans for dinner tonight but decided to get one taco each while our brakes cooled down. These tacos were hands down the best hard tacos I've ever had in my life. Flakey, crispy, delicious and perfectly seasoned. The asada, lengua, and cabeza were absolutely divine. The shrimp and cheese was okay for me. After we finished the tacos, we went back to our car but couldn't help ourselves and turned right back around to order more. We had to kiss our other dinner plans goodbye. The tacos were that good. We ended up getting the enchiladas verde, quesabirria, and churros. The churros were my favorite of the three and were piping hot and fresh. The quesabirria was moderately good and the enchiladas were okay. Service was a bit slow. They have tables and chair set up outside of the taco truck with napkins and condiments. I'd highly recommend this spot.

The location is chill with a lot of plentiful parking, and the workers were kind and helpful. There was a large number of options to choose from and the food was very affordable if you're craving Mexican food on a budget. I ordered three tacos with lengua. It was my first time trying lengua actually so I don't know if I have proper credibility for rating my lengua. I think it could have been more flavorful and I also think they could have gave a larger portion of it in my tacos. I was still full after though because of the thickness of the tortilla wrap. There was a bit of a wait because this was a popular truck. We didn't mind the wait but did have to wait 30 minutes for all our food to be ready, so keep that in mind if you're in a hurry. Maybe they were rushing too much with the food because they did not cap the sauce in my friends takeout box and so the sauce spilled all over his tacos and bag. Also my other friend would have liked more meat with his tacos. This is a convenient and inexpensive spot if you want a chill time with your friends.

    Sent from heaven!

I had to come back for more! I can't leave this place alone. Kept thinking about it all weekend long and probably told about 30 people about this. I had to come back and at least post up a picture of the food. Here they are, the quesabirria! In all of their amazing Gloria!

Stopped in one early evening as I spotted this on my commute home. I often will pick something up if I'm really hungry as there is nothing worse than sitting in traffic hAngry. I think more people should exercise this in their routine and there simply would be much less road rage then there currently is. Lol Nice looking truck with a cool paint job, and a few patio tables and chairs under a canopy, which was nice, as I was able to eat half my sandwich there, while taking the rest home. First visit, service was great. There was a guy there to answer questions and to dish out efficient service. Second time there, seemed more questionable like nobody seemed there, as I stood in line for about 4 minutes with zero presence. I left that day, so I only got 1 try here. Birria Torta ($13ish/3.5*) Nice sized sandwich. Decent bread that's actually toasted, which is a must for this dish as the birria is very wet/moist. Their birria is decent, basically Mexican pot roast but the meat gets kinda shredded. Decent flavor, just didn't get a whole lot of the dried red chili flavor that should shine in this preparation. I put the garnishing pickled jalapeno and onions inside and it helped it a lot. A cup of the juice (consomme) is added and I used it to dip the second half of the sandwich at home. I think I'm more used to Mexican Tortas having more fillings in there like a smear of refried beans, cheese, lettuce etc. I think this would have benefited from such a style as it would have added multiple dimensions, versus just meat and bread. Since I didn't get to try any tacos on my second visit, this review will have to stand on the solo sandwich experience. It was alright but I definitely didn't say to myself, 'you need to come back for this!'. Plop, plop, plop 3 decent stars in the bucket.

what a nice establishment, really kind and friendly workers! They also made a cute & small outdoor dining area next to the truck (: I think they're known most for their birria, lots of cheese and meat which is good! Al pastor has some chunks of pineapple, yass :3 Interesting/ unique menu items such as burgers and hot cheetos burrito. All day breakfast burritos. Self serve complimentary chips & salsa. Gracias, hard workers and so friendly!

After a music concert my group was hungry and my best friend suggested this place as it was relatively close to his home. I ordered a Pork belly Quesadilla and a Carne Asada Burrito for my lady and I was insanely surprised. I never seen pork belly offered so I figured I'd give it a try. It wasn't too bad but the carne asada tasted so savory and so different and delicious compared to other places. For the price we paid too I think this place is hard to beat. Definitely a "must-try" place in my opinion.

I got the al pastor tacos, and they were really good. I also liked that they give you grilled onions and lime on the side. We also tried the quesadillas, which were huge and had a really good serving size. We got a strawberry agua fresca and horchata as well, and both were good. Our group of six spent around $80 altogether, which I thought was pretty reasonable considering the portions and the amount of food we got. The food came out quickly too. After we ordered, I'd say it took 10 minutes or less, so we really didn't have to wait long. My only suggestion would be more seating. There were only about two tables when we went, and if other people are already sitting there, it can feel a little awkward having to share a table with people you don't know. I definitely think there's room for improvement there. Overall, for trying this place completely blind, I was really impressed. The tacos were good, the portions were generous, the food came out fast, and the price felt fair for our group. I'd definitely come back!

I had a very concerning experience with my order and would like to request a full refund if possible. This was my first time ordering from this restaurant, and unfortunately, the entire experience raised serious concerns about food quality, cleanliness, and possible cross-contamination. I ordered a quesadilla, and from the first bite, something seemed seriously wrong. The tortilla and filling had an overwhelming burnt, extremely charcoal-like aftertaste that made the food taste as though it had been prepared on an extremely dirty or poorly maintained cooking surface. This was not simply a matter of the food being slightly overcooked or having a burnt grill taste the taste was unsanitary and unpleasant. The meat was also excessively fatty and of such poor grade quality that I could barely tolerate the texture or taste. I am generally not someone who complains about meat quality, but the combination of the questionable meat and the strong, dirty taste of the cooking surface made the quesadilla completely inedible. Now here's the more upsetting part: I also ordered two carne asada tacos, but instead received three tacos, including one containing what appeared to be pork intestines or another type of miscellaneous meat that I absolutely did not order. I do not eat pork, and the texture of this meat was slimy and the smell of it was extremely unpleasant. More concerningly, the meat appeared to have come into contact with the carne asada tacos as well. I unfortunately did not inspect the order before taking a bite, so I accidentally bit into the taco containing the unidentified meat. I was immediately nauseated and genuinely felt like I was going to vomit. I attempted to eat the carne asada tacos afterward, but I could taste what appeared to be the same miscellaneous meat mixed into them. I noticed that the tortillas themselves had the same strong burnt, charcoal-like flavor as the quesadilla, which further contributed to my concerns about the cleanliness and condition of the cooking surface. Because the unidentified meat appeared to have contaminated or mixed with the food I actually ordered, I ultimately could not eat any of the tacos. The horchata was another major concern. It had an unusually unpleasant taste that I have never experienced from horchata before. It tasted stale and potentially contaminated, almost as though something unsanitary had come into contact with it. I cannot say exactly what caused the taste, but it was sufficiently abnormal that I did not feel comfortable drinking it. Ultimately, I ate only approximately one bite of the quesadilla and a single bite of each type of taco before throwing the food away. Shortly afterward, my stomach was already growling and I felt extremely uncomfortable. This was not simply a matter of the food not matching my personal taste. I am concerned about the apparent lack of cleanliness, the burnt/dirty taste throughout the food, the unidentified meat being included in an order where it was not requested, and the apparent cross-contact between that meat and the carne asada I ordered. I would strongly encourage the restaurant to review its food-preparation, cooking-surface sanitation, ingredient handling, and order-assembly procedures. I am pretty upset that I ate something I didn't order and have no idea what it is. Given that I was unable to safely or reasonably consume essentially any of my order, I would appreciate a full refund.

This was my very first visit to El Halal Mexican Restaurant in the heart of downtown Willow Glen,…read moreand I've been wanting to stop by for a while. I finally decided to give it a try after hearing about the restaurant from food reviewer Dave fiore text. As someone who absolutely loves tacos and is always on the hunt for great local taco spots, I was excited to see how this place compared to some of my favorites. I ordered four different tacos, and overall, they were pretty good. They weren't bad by any means, but they also didn't quite blow me away. The meat was cooked well, the tortillas were fresh, and the tacos had good flavor. The salsa was decent too, although I personally prefer something with a little more kick. Everyone has different tastes, so this is just my opinion. One thing I really appreciated was how clean and organized the restaurant was. You can tell they take pride in keeping the dining area nice and welcoming. The staff was friendly, and my food came out quickly. It's always a good sign when a restaurant pays attention to both cleanliness and customer service. I've eaten at a lot of taco places throughout the Bay Area, so I naturally compare every new place to some of my favorites. While El Halal Mexican Restaurant didn't make the top of my list, I still had a good experience and I'm glad I finally gave it a shot. Not every restaurant has to be your favorite to be worth visiting. I also like supporting family-owned businesses because I know how much hard work goes into running a local restaurant. They deserve credit for creating a clean, welcoming place and serving quality food. Will I come back? Maybe. If I do, I'd probably try something different on the menu instead of the tacos. Sometimes a restaurant's best dish isn't the first thing you order, and I'd be interested in seeing what else they have to offer. Overall, I'd give El Halal Mexican Restaurant a solid 4 out of 5 stars. It was a good experience, I'm happy I finally got to try it, and if you're in the Willow Glen area, it's worth stopping by and deciding for yourself.
