You see them cook your food. It's a small place. Your order comes with chips and you have an open salsa bar to choose from. I got the pico de gallo and avocado sauce. I love the avocado sauce! It was creamy and not bland at all. My breakfast burrito had the usual eggs and beans in the burrito. I was low key scared to get the chorizo and opted for the bacon. The bacon was cooked to perfection in a wrapped dish. It's really filling with the chips. There's two handicapped spots in the front. Restroom is located outside. Cashier was nice but I can tell she was impatient with the language barrier. It wasn't difficult to meet halfway. Edit: I went here recently and I love my regular burrito with Al pastor. I recently stumbled across Santa Fe Taqueria. I also noticed a market with the same name and wondered if they are connected to each other? The answer is...yes, they are from an employee. The taqueria has inside and outside seating. Simple and basic decor. The ambience was quiet inside. One outside unisex restroom. The cashier was nice and helpful. I asked if she liked the the carne asada or al pastor better? She couldn't decide and said "both are good!" I went with the Al Pastor. Regular Taco with Al Pastor (4/5). I got it with mild green sauce. The pork was tender, juicy, and marinated well. Agua Fresca Melon (4/5) - Fresh, fruity, and delicious. When I got to the bottom of my drink, there was a thick puree of cantelope that was hard to suck up throw the straw. But it showed how much fruit was used to make this. Haha. It was very good! Came in a little before lunchtime and ordered carne asada fries and a pastor taco. There was a line that began to grow because the cashier was helping two in decisive ladies about what they should order. After they played 21 questions with the cashier they finally finished and the line went smoothly (one pet peeve of mine are people who hold up lines because they don't know what they want, plus it's Mexican food, not a lot of variety and simple to order). Both meats were lacking in flavor and could've been grilled more. Especially the carne asada. The asada sits in a container where it's already cooked so the meat just sweats and loses the juices and flavor. They don't attempt to reheat it on the grill, just scoop it onto whatever you ordered. The meat was scarce and the fries could've been fried better. I would've liked a little bit more pico de gallo because that was the most delicious part but of the meal. They don't have pickled jalapeño, only grilled, but it was good. Pastor needed more grill time and flavor. It looks delicious, but it's deceiving. However, the quality of meat for the pastor was good. The salsas were good, but had to ask. None came in the bag. I do like that they gave radishes and grilled onions for the taco without having to ask. If the meat was better tasting I'd be back. read more

Solid breakfast! They have a variety of breakfast dishes. This came with ham and eggs with a side of rice and beans. Rice was fluffy and the beans were so flavorful. They gave me so many tortillas! Oh, Santa Fe, Santa Fe. I want to start out by saying - yes, support your local businesses and be kind to food industry employees because they are honestly overworked. Living in this neighborhood, I've been coming here for the last 10 years and was always forgiving by their services but 'm finally writing a review of how disappointed I am by their quality in the recent years. This past weekend - We ordered carne asada fries, 2 al pastor tacos, 2 carne asada tacos, and 2 super burritos. The steak was chewy, dry and discolored. Almost tasted like inedible beef jerky. Good thing their toppings and sauces were able to help with the flavoring, although lacking.. it was barely enough to cover the meat on top. The carne asada tacos were dried and looked extremely sad.. As for the burritos - everything was mushy and bland, the tortilla was soggy, meat was super chewy as well. Worst of all, when we asked for more sauces, pico de gallo, etc. - the employee just glared at us and ignored our request. We ordered 5 different items and they gave us ONE of each sauces. It wasn't even enough to finish one burrito... They used to have the sauce bar for us to manually get it ourselves but I guess they put it away after Covid and charges you separately for each now. The food has been so yummy in the past for me to complain about this, but the employees can be so racist.. If you're non-Hispanic, they treat you so different and with such an awful attitude. This happens every time we're in the store, I can see the way they treat others as we're waiting for our food. Someone prove me wrong... The ambiance is not what it used to be and it saddens me. I hope they realize that there are A LOT of non-Hispanics that support and love this place. My favorite thing to get here has always been carne asada/al pastor fries and I would come back but I'll make sure I have extra toppings prepared next time. read more

My craving for carne asada fries led me here, and I was pleasantly surprised. The meat was flavorful, and the fries were perfectly fried. They use those thin McDonald 's-style fries, my personal favorite. We also ordered five tacos - three carne asada and two al pastor. The meat in them was tender and packed with cilantro and onions. They didn't skimp on the fillings, that's for sure. I ordered their super quesadilla with lengua and it was decent. I was a bit disappointed that they didn't have a sauce similar to the orange sauce you find at other taquerias. The red sauce they provide is quite spicy, and the green sauce was quite good, we even ordered some extra on the side. We tried their melon and horchata agua frescas in a medium and let me tell you, they were massive! The horchata was hands down the best I've ever had. It hit the spot just right. Unlike other places, I feel like the quantity of the red sauce was rather little. Nothing wrong with the taste of the Asada or the burrito itself but overall it felt filling but lackluster. ESSJ for sure vibes for sure! lots of parking because it shares with the market on the same lot so that's not an issue. Small taqueria, they do have inside seating & dannng if you don't mind the heat, warm atmosphere, then eating inside works for you, walked in & felt like I was in PVR hott up in that mug & people were still inside eating. They have outside seating in a little gated area, which is pretty cool BUT I think they shoulda had a door that leads directly to that seating area, because if your hands are full, you'll need help opening the gate to get into the seating area. Carne asada meat was very tasty, it definitely has been marinated in the yummy spices. Still my fav burrito spot in all of SJ. Burritos are 10-11 now but thats comparable to other spots. The Al Pastor California burrito is still my all time fav and its a must try over here. I also managed to convince the lady to add fries to my shrimp burrito to kinda make it like a Camaron California. It was legit. A decent place for Mexican food! I ordered the Super Burrito with Al Pastor and the Carne Asada Fries. I thought the portion size was worth the price. The meat was well cooked and not dry! The fries were cooked well and were crispy and wasn't skimpy with the meat portion. I was a fan of the thinner cut fries they used. They have salsas and sides upon request. The food came out in about 15-20 minutes. There's plenty of seats inside as well. I don't think I ever given any place a bad review. I understand how hard it is behind the kitchen since I once work at one. If you're thinking about door dashing here I wouldn't do it. I came to pick up my order which was already ten minutes behind sure understandable. After politely asking the cashier twice to check on the order she just bush it off not ready. I sat there and watch the cook make 5 order then work on my doordash order then another 5 order and work on my doordash order. If you're going to work on an order then finish that order first so the food is not sitting there getting cold. No one wants to eat food that sat out at dangerous temperature . It sat there for almost an hour before the last item was finish .It's not worth it to DoorDash here and risk getting sick from the food. Comes with rice, beans, your choice of meat (I usually get the carne asada), topped with a scoop of guac, sour cream, and salsa on top. If you're not going to eat it right away, I recommend removing the toppings otherwise it'll make your burrito soggy. They also have a variety of sauces (spicy and non spicy) to complete your meal. This spot always brings back some major nostalgia but, man, it just isn't the same as before.. Forget about 10 years ago, even just 3 years ago I remember this place being WAY better than it's become now. Carne asada fries were ok but just didn't taste amazing overall. The steak was discolored and dry, and the toppings seemed lacking compared to how it used to be back in the day. We also ordered a super burrito with tripas. First of all, I was under the impression that super burritos come with all the fixings, but ours just came with the standard rice, beans, meat, sour cream, and cheese.. The rice and beans were pretty overcooked, mushy, and bland, and the tortilla wasn't even grilled. Worst of all, the tripas just came as long tubes that weren't even cut or grilled. They definitely weren't cleaned thoroughly and had a funky taste and texture inside. They were so rubbery that it felt like chewing on some kind of rubber tubing, and I was seriously worried that it wasn't even cooked all the way. And as far as I can remember, this was the first time that I wasn't even halfway full after eating an entire burrito. I believe they have a second location on Story Road, so I want to make it clear that this review is for the location on S White Road. I got myself 3 Mega Tacos ($12, $4 for each) and a medium Horchata ($3). I requested my tacos to have asada meat. The horchata looks to be around 24 fl. oz. I believe you will be impressed by the Mega Tacos here. For $4, you get your choice of meat, beans, shredded cheese, pico de gallo, sour cream, chickpeas, and guacamole on two corn tortillas. The quantity of ingredients is heavy, and the quality of them is surprising. My asada had a very good chew to it and was seasoned nicely. If you are looking for a well-balanced taco, you might want to go for their simpler options, but there is so much going on with the Mega Tacos, you cannot help but feel rewarded. Pair these with their salsa verde. I wish I could say the same nice things about the Horchata, but I just can't. It was absolutely terrible--the worst horchata I've ever had. For a medium size at that price point, it's a pretty big drink. But I bet you one of my kidneys that you will not be able to make it past the halfway point without getting overwhelmed by the sweetness. Every sip I've had was just a reminder to watch out for my sugar levels. I threw the drink away with 95% of it remaining. Huge stomachache momentarily afterwards. In terms of everything else, not much stands out. Very good parking situation at night. No waiting customers when I got there. My food order took about 10 minutes. Decent customer service. Sauces and other condiments available. COVID guidelines have been met. My friend got himself Carne Asada fries and a Super Burrito, also with asada meat; he really enjoyed the portion sizes and quality for the price point. Those are his recommendations, anyhow. Santa Fe Taqueria was alright at the end of it all. My friend and I were pleased with our experience here, but that horchata--in spite of it being just one item--should be avoided at all cost. End of an era. My family and I have been coming here since 2008. We've introduced it to many of our SoCal friends who claim there's no good Mexican food in NorCal. Our go to has been California burritos because it's good! And we eat here once a month. We noticed how rude the women have been lately especially when you ask for salsa. They look at you like you just asked for a refund. We ordered 3 burritos and asked for 6 salsas (2 per person) and apparently that warranted the girl looking at me with a "are you serious" attitude and asking her coworkers. It was just a weird way to handle something so minuscule. Thought last time maybe the woman was having a bad day but nope. It's been like this every time, every month we go.
