    Regular Taco with Al Pastor
    Lloyd C.

I recently stumbled across Santa Fe Taqueria. I also noticed a market with the same name and wondered if they are connected to each other? The answer is...yes, they are from an employee. The taqueria has inside and outside seating. Simple and basic decor. The ambience was quiet inside. One outside unisex restroom. The cashier was nice and helpful. I asked if she liked the the carne asada or al pastor better? She couldn't decide and said "both are good!" I went with the Al Pastor. Regular Taco with Al Pastor (4/5). I got it with mild green sauce. The pork was tender, juicy, and marinated well. Agua Fresca Melon (4/5) - Fresh, fruity, and delicious. When I got to the bottom of my drink, there was a thick puree of cantelope that was hard to suck up throw the straw. But it showed how much fruit was used to make this. Haha. It was very good! I'll be back as I read they have the best Horchata in the area (per their writeup). I usually do get this but I was feeling I wanted something fruity today.

This is one of favorite place to get Mexican food from San Jose. It's affordable, clean, consistently good, and convenient to get to with a large parking lot. What we've had and enjoyed here: Tacos, burritos, enchiladas, quesadilla. Don't skip out on the agua frescas! We've had passionfruit, mango-cucumber, horchata, apple, and many others! Service and friendly and efficient. They do a great job packing up to-go orders.

Worlds thinnest quesadilla with tiny bits of pastor and a pinch of cheese cooked hard and dry just the way everyone loves it????

    Carne Asada Fries

Came in a little before lunchtime and ordered carne asada fries and a pastor taco. There was a line that began to grow because the cashier was helping two in decisive ladies about what they should order. After they played 21 questions with the cashier they finally finished and the line went smoothly (one pet peeve of mine are people who hold up lines because they don't know what they want, plus it's Mexican food, not a lot of variety and simple to order). Both meats were lacking in flavor and could've been grilled more. Especially the carne asada. The asada sits in a container where it's already cooked so the meat just sweats and loses the juices and flavor. They don't attempt to reheat it on the grill, just scoop it onto whatever you ordered. The meat was scarce and the fries could've been fried better. I would've liked a little bit more pico de gallo because that was the most delicious part but of the meal. They don't have pickled jalapeño, only grilled, but it was good. Pastor needed more grill time and flavor. It looks delicious, but it's deceiving. However, the quality of meat for the pastor was good. The salsas were good, but had to ask. None came in the bag. I do like that they gave radishes and grilled onions for the taco without having to ask. If the meat was better tasting I'd be back.

Portions are decent for the price, fresh salsas and drinks. Customer service can be better. In and outdoor seating available and rapid service. Ambiance is ok it does get warm in there since they don't run the A/C.

Solid breakfast! They have a variety of breakfast dishes. This came with ham and eggs with a side of rice and beans. Rice was fluffy and the beans were so flavorful. They gave me so many tortillas! It came with salsa too. So delicious. I highly recommend. Staff were very kind! Restaurant seems clean and lots of seating.

Excellent Taqueria! Very fresh, good portions - delicious. Staff, restaurant and out door seating area is A+. Truly excellent for the money!

    Carne Asada Santa Fe Burrito

I ordered the Carne Asada Santa Fe Burrito. It was huge. You can choose red sauce or green sauce. I choose red sauce. The food came out in about 15 minutes. I liked the lettuce on the side to balance it out. For me though, I was still a little hungry after. I eat a lot but for the average eater it's a good portion. It looks like a hole in the wall place but natives here know it isn't. This is a great place to meet friends and family! There's a lot of parking on a Wednesday night.

    Dried meat, almost unedible

Oh, Santa Fe, Santa Fe. I want to start out by saying - yes, support your local businesses and be kind to food industry employees because they are honestly overworked. Living in this neighborhood, I've been coming here for the last 10 years and was always forgiving by their services but 'm finally writing a review of how disappointed I am by their quality in the recent years. This past weekend - We ordered carne asada fries, 2 al pastor tacos, 2 carne asada tacos, and 2 super burritos. The steak was chewy, dry and discolored. Almost tasted like inedible beef jerky. Good thing their toppings and sauces were able to help with the flavoring, although lacking.. it was barely enough to cover the meat on top. The carne asada tacos were dried and looked extremely sad.. As for the burritos - everything was mushy and bland, the tortilla was soggy, meat was super chewy as well. Worst of all, when we asked for more sauces, pico de gallo, etc. - the employee just glared at us and ignored our request. We ordered 5 different items and they gave us ONE of each sauces. It wasn't even enough to finish one burrito... They used to have the sauce bar for us to manually get it ourselves but I guess they put it away after Covid and charges you separately for each now. The food has been so yummy in the past for me to complain about this, but the employees can be so racist.. If you're non-Hispanic, they treat you so different and with such an awful attitude. This happens every time we're in the store, I can see the way they treat others as we're waiting for our food. Someone prove me wrong... The ambiance is not what it used to be and it saddens me. I hope they realize that there are A LOT of non-Hispanics that support and love this place. My favorite thing to get here has always been carne asada/al pastor fries and I would come back but I'll make sure I have extra toppings prepared next time.

Wet Burrito was my favorite, we ordered the one with red sauce, it was huge, I needed to share with my husband. Carne asada fries was good, we also bought some extra sauce for chips. Wasn't too salty or fried, which I like. It wasn't too busy when we arrived, seats are spacious. Service is good.

My craving for carne asada fries led me here, and I was pleasantly surprised. The meat was flavorful, and the fries were perfectly fried. They use those thin McDonald 's-style fries, my personal favorite. We also ordered five tacos - three carne asada and two al pastor. The meat in them was tender and packed with cilantro and onions. They didn't skimp on the fillings, that's for sure. I ordered their super quesadilla with lengua and it was decent. I was a bit disappointed that they didn't have a sauce similar to the orange sauce you find at other taquerias. The red sauce they provide is quite spicy, and the green sauce was quite good, we even ordered some extra on the side. We tried their melon and horchata agua frescas in a medium and let me tell you, they were massive! The horchata was hands down the best I've ever had. It hit the spot just right. On the plus side, the staff here are very friendly, they accept credit cards and the parking lot is enormous, which is convenient. They also offer online ordering!

    Santa Fe burrito (Red sauce)
    James S.

It has been a few years since I have been here so decided to come check it out again. I ordered the carne asada Santa Fe Burrito with Red sauce. Unlike other places, I feel like the quantity of the red sauce was rather little. Nothing wrong with the taste of the Asada or the burrito itself but overall it felt filling but lackluster. The service itself was fairly quick with the location being very clean but will try something else in the future to give it another chance.

What kind of cheese do they put on their asada fries like do they put nacho cheese or something different?

Shredded cheese. Not the artificial cheese

They got this red, tangy drink next to Horchata. I just ordered and it tastes so good. Anyone knows what this drink is called? (Jamaica? Hamaica?)

Jamaica in Spanish. Hibiscus is English but just ask for as Jamaica. It's a flower and it is delicious

I had the carne asada burrito, it was good but nothing over the top that made it stand out. My friend had enchiladas with mole. We were most excited about dessert and decided to share the churros and Tres leches. It was a nice touch that the churros and Tres leches did not come plain, a little pizzazz since they were both served with berries, whipped cream, and a cajeta style sauce. Both of the desserts were so good and a perfect touch of sweetness.

They charged us for an adult Chicken and Waffles even though we sent it back and got the correct kids' portion I originally ordered. They also charged us for TWO molcajetes when only ONE came out. The check went from $265 to $200 after we caught everything. 1000000% they were hoping we wouldn't notice. I could believe it was an honest mistake if two molcajetes had come out, but they didn't. Since gratuity was already included, it really makes me wonder how many people have overpaid without realizing it. We came in with a group of 6. Everything was okay at first. We ordered chips with salsa and beans, and the beans were delicious, so we ordered a second round. At most restaurants, chips and salsa are free, so we assumed the same here. Unfortunately, we were never told the second round wasn't free, or that only one refill was included, and no one asked if we were okay with the additional charge. My dad and I shared the molcajete, which was pretty good, had enough meat, and was literally BOILING hot. My MIL and husband both ordered the Carne Asada plate. It was tasty but had really small portions, so we had to share our food with them to fill them up. My kids ordered French toast and chicken strips. They were originally supposed to get Chicken and Waffles, but they were out of waffles or couldn't make them--I'm not really sure. This is where the problems started. I specifically said KIDS chicken & waffles twice when ordering, but they brought out the adult size for my oldest, which was $8 more. Fine, we can call that an honest mistake, but then it was also charged on the final bill even after we sent it back. Unfortunately, after everything with the bill, we will NOT be going back here again.

My wife is Latina, so we're pretty familiar with authentic Latin/Mexican flavors, and from the moment we walked in, we were a little unsure of what to expect. We completely understand we're in Willow Glen and that Copita is going for a more upscale take, but for us, authenticity and flavor still have to be at the heart of the experience. Our waitress was very friendly and polite, and this review is absolutely not a reflection of her service. However, when we asked about the style of the food, there seemed to be a little hesitation in explaining it, which made us even more uncertain about what we had gotten ourselves into. I don't like bashing restaurants or their food, so I'll simply say that, unfortunately, the highlight of our meal was the chips and salsa. The cocktails, on the other hand, were good and definitely not shy on the alcohol! Also, don't expect large portions. The restaurant is clearly aiming for a more upscale presentation and experience, so the plates reflect that. Overall, Copita just wasn't for us. This was our first visit and unfortunately will probably be our last. I genuinely wish them success, but I think a few changes, especially when it comes to the flavors and authenticity of the food could make a big difference.
