I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for good Mexican food in Lambertville. I got the tacos de chorizo and three tacos came on the plate, and a grilled onion and chile also made an appearance. All in all, the chorizo was moist, flavorful and amazing, and the salsas you receive are delicious. The only thing I wasn't crazy about were the chips that they brought out before we ordered. This is pretty typical for this type of restaurant. However, the chips were room temperature at best. This gem of a deli is located on Main street in Lambertville. It truly is a deli, with very little space to eat, and very few things on the shelves (mostly Goya... ). Their menu is quite extensive, from tacos, huaraches, to tortas. I ordered both al pastor and lengua. They were served correctly with double corn tortillas, onion, cilantro, and radishes. You get both a red and creamy green sauce on the side. While the place clearly caters to the relatively large hispanic community in Lambertville and New Hope, the people behind the counter do speak English very well. Not a place to stay and eat, unless you just want to wolf down your food perched on a wooden stool, but definitely a great place to get authentic Mexican take away. read more

I really loved our experience here yesterday! Don't be phased by the small, hole in the wall appearance, the food and service is very good! This is a small deli/restaurant but has only a couple tables available inside but an adequate amount of counter space. A nice bonus for the warmer days is there is a patio/seating area outside as well. For such a small place, I really didn't expect the menu to be so expansive...they have everything I would expect of a taco/Mexican restaurant and more. We got chips with pico de gallo and guac which were both delicious. For entree, I went with the Chicken chiles rellenos which was served with rice and beans. The chiles was just the right amount of heat and the stuff was really good. The rice and beans were very authentic. The rice had corn, beans, and other veggies in it which is what I saw in Mexico. Legit hole-in-the-wall Mexican food. Portions are well-sized (not humongous Chipotle burritos!), the food is cheap, and there is an entire pantry wall and display case of tomatillos/queso/etc. to satisfy your urge to make Mexican food for yourself. Not like it'll match up to these guys. I'm kind of regretting not trying the beef tongue, but my huerache with carne enchilada was pretty awesome, anyway. Great little authentic Mexican place. We'd heard about Tacos Cancun for quite a while but never ventured in. Since it's primarily a carry-out place, and we were in the mood to eat at home, we decided to give it a go. I go the enchiladas Suizas - shredded chicken with green sauce while my wife tried a few tacos - fish, beef and shrimp. Everything was excellent - flavorful and fresh. We also got sides of guacamole and pico de gallo - both were very good. We're looking forward to trying other menu items. The place is definitely worth a look. One note - as other have noted, this is something of a hole-in-the-wall, so it wouldn't be my first choice for a nice sit down dinner or a date. But don't be scared away by the looks - the food is good enough to counter any shortcomings in ambiance! read more

Their Chimichanga's are good but they raised the price to $15.00 - they were $11.95 - worth it at that price - I guess because no one brought the meal - which included a small scoop of beans and a small scoop of dried out rice. After antique ring shopping in Lambertville, my fiancé and I realized it was getting late in the afternoon and how hungry we actually were. So we decided to look around and see what we could find. Our search led us to Tacos Cancun. While the outside does look like a dive and upon opening the door you are faced with an apartment door in front of you and the restaurant door to your right without any kind of signage to let you know that it is the door to the restaurant, once you are inside you can tell that this is going to be a pretty interesting dining experience. The staff behind the counter were very friendly and helpful. They explained several of the items to us, so that we could make the proper choice. After ordering, we were led to the patio behind the restaurant which allowed us to relax and enjoy our food in the beautiful atmosphere of the day. We were also provided with tortilla chips and a salsa that was incredibly fresh and delicious. The enchiladas that I ordered had a terrific mole sauce with avacado that was just right on top. The chicken filling was tender and spiced very well. My fiancé enjoyed her Sopes immensely as well. The only issue that we had was that we didn't receive water without asking for it first. However, that aside, I look forward to going back and trying more of their appetizing menu. read more

Went for the "new" patio in back, or at least new to me. Took half an hour to get our food and then one of the servers, not ours, realized we had been waiting a long time and scurried off to find it. Had ordered the special - one chicken tamale and one "barbeque rib tamale." Asked the server, is that with bone in rib tamale? Assured it was not - but it was. Not just the bones but at least 10 bone chips, oh and very little pork meat. The chicken tamale was good. Especially the corn tamale itself. Good salsa. Mediocre service. I think this patio is a recent feature. Maybe it needs a little time to settle. Have always liked most things I got there as take out in the past. I will give them another chance. read more

Tacos Cancun is pretty legit. We are Cali transplants so the bar is high. It's a nice clean dive with really cool people. Very nice portions of very good Mexican. Take out gives you more salsas green and red than you need...very nice. Chips are legit homemade right out of the fryer. Burritos and tacos are awesome. They just can't deliver real carnitas though. Tacos Cancun has the best tacos in town. So there are basically four (very different) Mexican options in the Lambertville / New Hope area... *Tacos Cancun - Great authentic Mexican style tacos. These are the smaller , traditional sized tacos with minimal toppings and super flavorful meat... the carne enchilada (spicy pork) is awesome. *El Taco Loco - Pretty good tacos. Somewhere between totally Americanized and authentic Mexican. Tasty and slightly larger than the ones at Tacos Cancun, but just not as delicious. Still a solid taco though... especially the fish tacos. And my wife says their enchiladas rock due to the amazing homemade red enchilada sauce. *Tortuga's Cocina - Totally Americanized, giant burritos and overstuffed tacos. While not at all authentic, there are times when you just crave that giant taco platter with lettuce, tomato, and the side refried beans & rice... usually when hungover or something. You get a lot of food for the price and it's attached to Mitchell's Tavern so you can get drinks as well. *Blue Tortilla - AVOID. Not even worth talking about. Bad on so many levels. There are also some tacos on the menu at Triumph Brewery as another option... and I think all of their bar food is pretty solid believe it or not. They do care about what they put on the plate, which is nice for a brewery. It's borderline gastropub type food. Slightly refined versions of things that are usually heavy and messy. We went this past Sunday afternoon for lunch. The seating is limited but luckily for us there were a few empty tables. The complimentary chips and salsa were excellent, crispy chips and a mild red salsa. I had the Torta Cubana it was served piping hot on a nice fresh roll. The numerous fillings were plentiful and the taste was excellent. The breaded steak that comes on it could be cut with a spoon it was so tender. The rest of the table had tacos, one order of fish tacos one alpastor, both plates were clean at the end. I tried the alpastor, it was also hot from the kitchen with a bit of a spice to it, not over powering but a nice touch of heat to it. We will be back again. My only complaint is it isn't closer to me home or it would be a definite weekly go to place. read more

I went to Tacos Cancun on a Sunday afternoon and it was empty inside; not necessarily a bad thing. There are about 6 tables in the dining room with a display cooler at the far end and a menu board above it. There was no indication if I should sit down or order ands seat myself, but since there was a menu board that's what I decided to do. I could see 3 employees working in the kitchen and after about 3 minutes one of them stopped what she was doing to take my order. I ordered 2 carne asada tacos and a coke (because they didn't have diet coke) "for here" then took a seat. After about 5 minutes the woman who took my order called me to the counter to give me my food, which was prepared to go. As I walked to the counter she said "oh, for here?" I told her not to worry, paid and ate the food at the table. The tacos were good, not great. There are plenty of places in Trenton with better tacos. What really made me give this place 2 stars instead of 3 was the whole place looked kind of dirty. The walls were grimy, the seats were stained. The woman who took my order looked like she was mixing meat with marinade and she was doing it with her bare hands. I can't imagine I'd go back. read more

There's a reason this place was featured in the New York Times, it's worth it. The owner is a bubbly man who clearly knows his food. The menu is a delight. It's so authentic! Prices are cheap. I haven't been able to find such authentic mexican food anywhere in Philly or NY. I'd highly recommend this to anyone in town for the weekend with the family.
