I took my son here and at first, we both gave each other a sideways look at the door and entrance... it kind of looks like a little house that could use a little love. Now, even though I wasn't even that hungry I literally almost licked the plate. Everything was fresh, authentic and definitely made to order. Authentic, great food that you can taste all the ingredients. Serving sizes are decent and everything tasted so fresh. I had the carnitas burrito with the mole sauce on top and my wife had the chicken enchiladas with some mole sauce as well. The only other place I could compare this place to is El Limon in Conchy. Fantastic hole-in-the wall authentic Mexican place! The menu can be a bit confusing, but everything we've gotten has been very good. The prices are totally reasonable too. I particularly recommend the quesadilla with homemade corn tortilla - not like any quesadilla I've ever had, but so delicious! Really good authentic food. The Mole is really good and both sweet and savory. Ordering and communicating can be a challenge for non-spanish speaking people like me. Wish the had fresh tortilla chips for guacamole. I think they think chips are Americanized, but guess what, you are in Lambertville, NJ USA. :-) Has the best empanada years ago and they have never had them since. Only down side -which adds to authenticity- is that they often times don't have certain items that are on the menu (guacamole, carne asada, etc.) due to limited supply. Service was good (although we were there early -- 5 pm on Saturday). Food was delicious. My friend and I had the burrito. My fiancé and friend had tacos and flautas and my brother had a shrimp dish. I'm always surprised when i read a "best tacos in NJ" article and don't see this place listed. It's just great. Great food, reasonable prices, quick pleasant service, nice ambience. I was on the west coast for business and a colleague insisted that we go to this well-known Mexican restaurant. it was big (two floors), overdone, and the portions were big, but bland and expensive. This is my go-to Mex place in this part of NJ. Their steak tacos are the thing although the last time I was there a group of businessmen were ordering and raving about the chorizo tacos so I'll be trying them next. The counter staff are friendly and really sweet but it's the tacos that make this a place to return to time and again. The grilled green onions (LOVE these babies), radishes and lime on the side are all great additions. If you like it hot, make sure to ask for a container of their red sauce along with the green - I love this stuff! My one complaint is that the service on the patio can be pretty poor. The few times DH and I have sat back there the server disappears for what seems like forever. We waited to pay the bill one night for close to 30 minutes. It's too bad because the patio could be so much fun if someone was paying more attention. (To be honest, we haven't been back to the patio for at least 6 months so maybe things have changed.) We normally order in the front of the store (it's a grocery store too) and either sit at the counter and watch Mexican soap operas or movies, or take them to go and find a place to sit outside and chow down. read more

Tried Tacos Cancun for the first time this past week. Had seen it but hadn't gone in before because it looked so unassuming - sort of a hole in the wall place. It is sort of a hole in the wall place (I didn't check out the back terrace, but will do so next time), but it's a really neat hole in the wall. Unexpectedly extensive menu (I got chicken tacos) and really good food. The interior has a limited number of tables but bright and colorful. I predict in a year or two this place will be swamped, and the owners deserve it! What a perfect place for casual but absolutely delicious Mexican food. Manny takes care of all of his customers and is such a sweetheart. My favorite dish is the loaded tacos, and I just discovered the fish tacos today...best ones I've ever tried!! Also try their coffee, made with cinnamon which is wonderful in winter. In summer they order the freshest mangoes, which come in on Tuesday's and they'll cut them up for you. I'm leaving to teach in Mexico soon, and I can only hope the food tastes as good as the food from Tacos Cancun. Love these guys!! read more

great small gem, hidden in a sea of overpriced restaurants. Tacos Cancun IS a small place. BUT the service was great and the food was excellent! and you get a lot of food for your money. It seems like a bunch of restaurants in the area have pretty limited menus but Tacos Cancun has a pretty good size menu with lots of options. My wife and I had dinner here, and we did eat a good amount plus a few sodas and we only paid $30. I don't think you can really argue with that when most of the other restaurants in the area it would cost you double that. read more

This place is awesome. Ive always heard great things about it and finally made my way over last night. I ordered the chicken tacos which were delicious. The tacos come on two soft shells that are cooked perfectly. My chicken was shredded and tender and full of flavor, i would definitely order it again! but i also really want to try a burrito from here... My friend got the special which was pulled pork tacos and my other friend ordered the steak huaraches. Both said their meals were great! The restaurant its very small but the atmosphere makes up for it. We got there around 7 for dinner and shortly after we sat down the place began filling up with what appeared to be regulars. Since it was our first time we werent sure to go to the counter and order or what, but soon after the nicest guy came out from behind the counter to get our drink orders and help us out. I love the food here ! sometimes the dishes vary a little bit but they are always outstanding .Service can sometimes be a bit slow especially if you are seated in the patio area .I try to sample as many dishes as possible but my personal favorites are the Chile Rellenos and gringos .Best in the area by far ! I recently found myself stuck in Lambertville for my job. It was a quick stop, and my colleague and I wanted a quick bite before we turned around to NYC. Our client pointed us in the direction of Tacos Cancun. It looked pleasant enough when we entered, despite the duplex style double entrance door. We were both struck by the large menu without any prices. Same for the specials menu. I didn't really think about it too much (it's tacos, it can't be too outrageous right?) I ordered 2 chorizo tacos. They were fine, but nothing special. My friend ordered from the specials thinking it was tacos. He was very wrong. His dish came out as a long flank steak covered in a weeks gooey white string cheese. I tried some, it tasted gross. He ate most of it, I just had my bite. The food wasn't stellar, but Paying was a real shock. My 2 tacos cost me $6.40. Wow. In Ridgewood or Sunset Park that'd be between $3-4.50. Almost half price. My friends bill- $13.50. Whoa, for lunch. In Manhattan you can get a drink with your lunch for that. We were shocked. After paying my friend said, maybe the prices aren't listed so that the staff can determine what each person "should" pay instead of just listing standard prices. If this is the case, than not cool. On top of it all my friend became violently ill all night and the next day after eating here. 2 stars because their service was good, 1 star for all else. If I somehow end up in Lambertville again, I wouldn't come back here. read more

Fabulous little hole in the wall authentic Mexican place. Folks are super friendly are are there to give you a great experience! Don't be put off by the entrance or sign that implies that this is just a little grocery. Order your grub and then eat on the back porch...you will not be disappointed. Flatas, tacos, chime-changas and enchiladas were ALL AWESOME-SAUCE! Don't forget to get a Mexican mango soda, or a real "made with sugar (not corn syrup)" Coke from the fridge. Closest I've felt to Mexico in Years...Keep up the good work! Oh - and come hungry, because the platters are loaded! read more
