*sigh* - Where do I even begin? For as long as I can remember, tacos have been my favorite food. In particular, al pastor tacos have always been my favorite food. It is something about the way the flavors of the sweet pineapple and smokey pork all work together to create the perfect bite. Tacos Chencho is the definition of the perfect bite. They exemplify quality ingredients, flavorful meats, and friendly customer service. After trying this food truck, I have been back 3 times THIS WEEK. I truly have nothing but positive remarks for this place. I have tried their carne asada, cabeza (beef cheek), and chicken tacos as well and they all are delicious! The cabeza tacos in particular being my favorite aside from the al pastor. Their agua frescas are also worth praising. You can tell they are making all of their drinks in house and they have a rotating menu of agua frescas. I've tried the mango, horchata, and melon drinks and the mango was my favorite. Last time I came here was 7 months ago and decided to come again. Cash or Zelle only! The food was much better this time. I got pastor and asada and both are so flavorful. I saw them slicing the pastor off the pit. I'm into a smoky orange sauce but this one is more on the tomato side but not bad. Green salsa is good. Definitely coming back for more now!! I only got 2 lime for 5 tacos so I'll ask for extra next time. This place is cash-only with some seating outside. I liked how they had outdoor heaters by the seats under the tent. They also have a self serve salsa bar with the main sauces. During the time the truck is open, the stores in that area, are closed, so there should be plenty of parking. Staff was friendly. I liked how this place had sliced onions on the side with the tacos. Poor costumer service and crap ambience. This is the second time I make a stop and I always feel uncomfortable ordering on my own as a young Latina woman. This time the female cashier and the creepy cook laughed at me between themselves when I was unable to hear him call out my order (keep in mind they are located near a busy/noisy street off Bascom). This particular location is located on the corner of Scott St & S Bascom Ave in the same parking lot as Calderon Tires. I happen to schedule an appointment at Calderon's tires to alignment my tires && notice there was a Chenchos Taco Truck. The thing is I got a little skeptical about trying them even though they're own by the same individual, see one thing I notice that happens a lot is that even if it's own by one person the flavor of the the meat can definitely change based on who is marinating it. How ever that was not the case today! && I'm beyond grateful that I got to try them. They're as good if not better than the ones i usually go to. I asked for the al pastor to be on the crispier side && I recommend that y'all get them like that next time you try them as it definitely elevates the flavor! The cabeza was tender as always as well as packed with flavor, && the suadero forget about it! Arguably my favorite taco aside the al pastor. The biggest plus for me had to be the addition of the salsa bar as you now get the option to add as much salsa as you want, That truly was a nice touch! Service was amazing as always super welcoming! Now it can be a tad bit loud as the sitting is outside && you have multiple cars passing by every minute but that is the least of your concerns then I would strongly recommend you dinning there! The asada meat is a little more on the charred side though but if it's the way you like it this place is perfect for you. Easily one of the best taco spots in SJ. The only downside is that the parking can be chaotic. There's often an ample line by the truck and a decent amount of seating right beside the truck. There's also a sauce and toppings bar. Everything from cabeza to al pastor to brisket is tasty. Personally, I'm a big fan of tripas. We recently tried the gringa, which is like a small quesadilla as a wrap for meat. One or two is enough to get me full. I heard this isn't very common but I'm unsure if it's their own invention? I absolutely love their sauces too. The orange sauce is the perfect amount of spicy for me. Add that, picked vegetables, grilled onions and peppers and... This is a must stop taqueria to try. I understand there are an abundance of taquerias to explore, but I highly recommend adding this joint to your list. I got the carne asada, no add ons for me. Really great tacos right off of Story road. My fiancé and I went to try them on a Sunday evening at 6 and although they were busy, we got our food pretty quickly. Tacos: We tried Al pastor, asada, and chorizo and my favorites were the Al pastor and chorizo tacos. The Al pastor comes with pineapple which is how I grew up eating them in Stockton and were delicious. Quesadilla: We also ended up ordering an Al pastor quesadilla to go and while I do think it could have used a little more meat, it was still really good. This is a solid taco spot! This is located on the corner of a shopping center, parking lot is small but not usually too busy! It's the standard order at a window on the truck and they'll call your number once your orders ready give you your tacos and drinks. They have limited seating, but there's usually something available. They have a salsa bar where you can serve yourself (my favorite were the green salsas & pickled carrots). They use yellow corn tortillas and give you a generous serving of meat and grilled onions with the tacos which is always a plus. I tried the al pastor, asada and cabeza tacos. The al pastor was good, I enjoyed that they included a piece of pineapple in the taco; the asada was just okay, it had a "grill" taste but not in a bad way. The cabeza was my favorite it was tender and flavorful. The Jamaica was fine; the strawberry horchata tasted like actual strawberries & I'd say it was more fruit than horchata flavored.
