This place in central downey was quick and fast it is order at the counter they have a section to make fresh juices.. I got a coffee comes with Galletas marias we got tacos de birria burrito de birria and huevos con machaca everything was great consomé was kinda cold another con is the Jamaica was kinda sour

Pozole

Two words; Decent pozole. It was raining today and my sister and I didn't feel like cooking so we ordered Pozole. It was decent but we felt it was lacking salt and that richness in the broth that we are used to.

I grew up right here and never came to this restaurant but went to every other restaurant on these blocks and in this town so I'm like let me try sumtn new tonight! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance was coo bc nobody was there but there is music being played like corridos which turnt me up while drinking my miche flight[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] ( 4 flavored drinks for $12 ) you have to drink the flight there in the restaurant but I got the food to go. The service is friendly bc the ladies are sweet and friendly yet they don't know English pretty well so be ready to speak Spanglish or pull out yo translator. The mole is sweet yet not over bearing but it's a great addition to the chicken flautas flavor and crunch. The birria tacos are great. The meat is juicy and flavored and it doesn't come wit cosome broth but it doesn't need it, the queso is jus enough.

Chilaquiles Verdes con Cafe de Olla. Mmmmm...Red are delicious too just sometimes spicier than other times.

Can't go wrong with breakfast or a Molcajete. I've had the red chilaquiles twice. The 1st time super delicious 2nd time almost too spicy to enjoy. Green were GOOOOD!!! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Sometimes a mariachi comes and plays not sure when. But we've had the pleasure to enjoy their music. Mariachi Tapatios I believe was their name.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great place![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Fantastic tacos! I only saw Mexican people - both staff and patrons. The tacos were EXCELLENT! I just ordered 3 tacos - chicken, pork and beef - yeah I know.... boring. But the tacos were really great and the sauce was amazing. Good to taste California Mexican again!!!! Why can't we have this taste in Hawaii???? I don't know.

I love this place, they have great food and good service. And it doesn't get full like other Don Chente restaurants do.

Bad food. My breaded steak had no steak only oily bread. My companion order fajitas. Lots of onion and some oily, greasy steak.

I'm honestly not sure why this place has so many negative reviews. It's one of the few local…read morerestaurants where you'll still find Olga making fresh, handmade tortillas right in-house, and that alone sets it apart. They don't cheap out on drinks or food, and the quality is consistently great. Portions are generous, and you get far more sides and extras here than at most Mexican restaurants in the area. The staff of ladies who work here are phenomenal--warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. There is only one older gentleman I've seen be rude to customers, but aside from that single exception, the service is excellent across the board. I judge Mexican restaurants heavily based on how they make a Cadillac margarita, and this place absolutely delivers. Everything that comes out of the kitchen is perfectly cooked, plentiful, and clearly made with care. For me, this restaurant is a solid five out of five. It's one of those spots that deserves far more credit than it gets. If you're looking for quality, authenticity, and great value, it's worth a visit.

I chose Italian, however she said they were out of it when she brought me my salad. I like that the salad came with avocado but the chicken was dry. The mariachi playing right in front of my table created a very lively ambiance. The restroom door distinguishes the gender. An Aztec woman was carved on the woman's room.

What a pleasant surprise. Meaning sometimes you read a lot of five star reviews and you leave…read moredisappointed. Had the Divorciad burrito for lunch and it was delicious. (See attached picture). This restaurant is in such an obscure location, I can't believe I was going to a Burrito Track across the street for so many years not knowing this place existed. Friendly staff and prompt service. The unfortunate negative is it's location and I'm referring to parking. There must be 8 business crammed into this lot. With a bar to the right and a laudermat on its left finding a parking spot is like winning the lotto. Now layer in one driveway and you have to make a 3 point turn just to navigate to leave. The short answer is I will absolutely go back to this place as long as there is a parking space to be had.

The idea was to enjoy my coffee while getting organized--paying bills, planning calendar events, and having the opportunity to focus without any distractions from my usual surroundings. In search of the perfect spot, I turned to Yelp, a reliable resource for uncovering hidden gems nearby. Upon stepping into the coffee shop, I was immediately greeted with warm hospitality, setting the tone for a delightful experience. The ambiance of the place was truly captivating--it was bright and welcoming, infused with an aesthetic charm that instantly put me at ease. I couldn't help but be intrigued by the design elements throughout the shop, which added an inviting touch to its overall atmosphere. Before I settled in, I asked the staff if I could snap a few photos to capture the essence of this delightful space. They graciously welcomed my request, and I was shown to my table, which, quite uniquely, was designated by a number--a small detail that I found charming. As I browsed the menu, I encountered a small conundrum: I wasn't entirely sure what to order. I wanted to break the mold and try something out of the ordinary. My curiosity was piqued by their exclusive offering of Café de la Olla--a traditional hot drink that piqued my interest right away. I ultimately settled on a hearty plate that included rice, beans, and enticing potato tostones, accompanied by two beautifully cooked sunny-side-up eggs. As I waited for my order, I noticed the café was filled with the sweet sounds of old-school music from the '60s and '70s, which only enhanced the cozy ambiance while I sipped my drink. Now, let's talk about the food! I must say, I rated the café itself a solid 4 out of 5 for its overall charm, while the rice earned a respectable 4 out of 5. The beans were rich in flavor and received a fair 3.9 out of 5. The potato tostones, delicately bathed in a savory red sauce, stood out with an impressive score of 4.3 out of 5--these are a must-try if you visit! And as for the sunny-side-up eggs, they were good, but hey, eggs are eggs, right? Overall, the entire experience was quite enjoyable, from the delightful food to the warm atmosphere. A special shout-out goes to Ana, whose exceptional customer service made my visit even more memorable. The combination of fantastic service, inviting aesthetics, and satisfying food truly made for a perfect morning retreat. I can't recommend this spot enough for anyone looking for a relaxing place to unwind and focus on what matters.

I have been eating at La Barca since before they expanded to Downey and Bell Gardens location. The south gate little og location, the one on Montebello, all yummy. Legit never had a bad experience, always consistent. Molcajete is my go to. And tbh you get more for your buck than other place like Los Compadres. Goat Birria plate is a must, and safe for the non-mexican pallet meaning not intense or gamey. The carne asada plate and Tampiqueña(skirt steak) is also a solid choice. Like I said always consistent during my visits. This newer location in downey is very nice. I usually bring my family from out of town for dinner. Very clean, aesthetic, and service usually always friendly.

I was seated fairly quickly as a party of one, and at first everything seemed fine when the waiter brought chips and salsa. However, after sitting for quite some time without any further attention, I began to wonder if my table had been forgotten. After waiting for a good while, I finally grabbed my belongings and prepared to leave. Just then, the waiter appeared, but by that point I was already disappointed and declined to continue with my visit. Unfortunately, the lack of attentiveness made for a frustrating experience. I hope the service improves so that future customers receive more timely attention.

I've been craving breakfast food for a while so I got the breakfast burrito to try. It definitely hit the spot for me, and it was so big I ended up splitting it with 2 other people. My friend got the breakfast bowl and I tried some. It was basically the same as the burrito but just deconstructed with quinoa as a base. It was all great! I love that Guacamaya serves breakfast all day for late risers like me. I really wanted to try the coconut Tres leches that was on display as well, but I think they said it was like $12. The chorizo had a delightful kick - a pleasant spice, not overpowering. The mushroom "meat" was fantastic! The guacamole was perfect, and I appreciated the NO tomatoes. I didn't try the nachos, but my friend seemed to thoroughly enjoy the diverse ingredients. We had a wonderful time and I'll definitely be returning. I highly recommend the *Champurrado*, the gorditas (especially the mushroom one!), and the guacamole. The soy chorizo was also excellent.
