This company is a terrible company to use. I'll break down my horrible experience. Communication: You can message them via instagram, email or text and it will take them about 2 weeks to return your call, but only after being hard and complaining to them about their poor communication style. That should have been a big red flag, but I chalked it up to a busy season. Directives on venue: I spent 2 hours at their tasting facility and went over everything I wanted and expected for a fancy, high end, 80 person baby shower. It was supposed to be in a wedding type of catering line with white and pink display and specialty clay pots with a lace type of look. I picked the style at their facility, repeated that verbally via phone later. (Ruby) was taking notes the whole time. I picked the layout from their instagram pics and video they had replaying during the tasting. I showed them pics of the dusty rose and hydrangea style of flowers for my centerpieces. They expressed to me that they would match my decor as close as they could. Before leaving, we went over everything and Ruby assured me she had all of the notes and everything would be ok. I secured the $300 for deposit and locked in my date. The contract they use online is inadequate, I told them I could not fill it in because they were asking for an additional deposit. The description of the decor was not on there, so how could I put that down? I kept calling, emailing, and Instagram messaging the closer to the event it got. No return calls. I kept telling them I had to talk to someone to up the amount of people and to finalize everything before the event. Finally, I got a call within one week of the event. The man (Jorge, I think) told me everything was set and I had nothing to worry about. I took his word for it. The only thing he went over with me was the fact that I continued to call Ruby Lupita. For some reason, Lupita stuck in my head, I was wrong, and he made sure I was corrected. Day of the event: They showed up and set up a small dingy table with decor for a backyard BBQ. Mexican sarape style decor with bright pink cheap flower bouquet in Mexican brown pots. Nothing of what we went over. The aquas were supposed to be in the beautiful jars I picked at the tasting. I got street taco vendor plastic jars. The fancy light tan clay pots were not there. The flowers were not there. Didn't match at all to what I showed Ruby. I have a half acre property with 10 tables around a pool area and a special serving area that accommodated the service line I expected and chose. I got nothing remotely close. I was so embarrassed because it was so out of sync with the rest of my event. I called him so upset. I didn't have time to continue to discuss things that day, I told him I would call him during the week. Outcome: It was not their fault, it was my fault because I didn't use their form online. It doesn't matter that I told him directly of the pots I chose via phone call (Light tan pots with a white lace looking overlay). My continued messages stated I could not use that online form because it did not work with what I picked. He stated Ruby's notes didn't have anything specific. What I was describing was the wedding package. The package I bought was their festival package (BOTH ARE THE SAME PRICE- $29/PP). At no time during the tasting did anyone say, we're sorry you can't have that decor because your event is a festival not a wedding. I couldn't believe he put it all on me and that they held no responsibility. But he did voice his apology. At this point I sent an email and stated I deserved compensation. What they gave me was their regular package for $19/pp. I have not heard back. The scary thing is, no pictures on their social media show the ugly set up I got. They were sent pictures of that day, but they will not forward them to me and I was so angry that I did not take any myself. I did ask for them. I would warn anyone using this company to go with anyone else. The first 4 pics are my event the other 4 are the decor I chose and did not get at all. read more

Unfortunately, I had a very disappointing experience with Jorge Tacos. I contracted them for a special event scheduled for August, but due to personal reasons I had to cancel. I contacted them about 4 months before the event, giving them plenty of notice. At first, they responded saying they understood my situation and that someone would get in touch with me regarding my deposit. Days went by and I reached out again, only to be told once more that someone would contact me. After that, more days passed with no response at all. Now they are not even replying to my texts or giving me the courtesy of a phone call. What I found most unprofessional was being given hope that my deposit issue would be addressed, only to be completely ignored afterward. We did drive to San Diego for the tasting a couple of weeks ago. The food was good and very tasty, but the service was horrible. The tasting was cut half short and we were rushed out because her next clients were outside, which is not my problem. Our tasting should have been completed with integrity. This is a huge expense and shouldn't be taken lightly! We felt rushed and unimportant. Also, after this, I tried several attempts to text, call and email Martin with questions and not once did I receive a response...very poor customer service considering that this catering is very expensive compared to similar services in the industry. Mega rip off, the only decent meat is the asada. They cook everything in Tijuana and transport it over. They use to be amazing by grilling on the spot on top of fresh tortillas. We wanted something special for her day but did not want the hassle of having to cook, get groceries and all that jazz (you know that pony show). Especially on a hot summer day. BEST decision ever. Not only was the staff very professional, on time and very lovely to work with but the sazón was on point. We went with esquite (corn in a cup) and ceviche as our appetizers, asada, pollo and fish tacos we opted to add pork chile verde. They had quesadillas too! All the proteins were well seasoned not dry at all. The fish tacos had good portions of fish not like all breading and a little piece of fish. Great portion. The salsas, great taste! The horchata was a hit with the hot sun; super refreshing, not watered down. Although the churros were not cooked on location, they were really good and crispy. Lastly, the one most underrated, the tortillas. They made them on the spot!! They were sooo delicious! Soft and simply amazing. The pricing was definitely affordable. I was married on 12/21/23, we used Don Jorge as they were recommended to us by our venue. I am glad we used them and here are some highlights: Our tasting was phenomenal, they cooked several meats for us to try. They setup a whole area for us to try each item including things we didn't necessarily think we wanted. For example: taquitos and a churro dessert. Day of: we opted for food for 100 people, our wedding wasn't exactly 100 but I was happy we requested food for me, I had read past reviews and it gave me peace of mind to have extra food. They pack up anything left over so that's nice. I didn't walk through the food line as that was done for me as the bride but I was told that they were very efficient and the options were nice. During our tasting, Ruby had been serving us and she came the day of to oversee and help with dinner. There were some complaints that some sides may have run out but for the most part, there was more than sufficient food and they even included cheese quesadillas for the kiddos! Very professional and very thorough. The team arrived an hour early to map out their cooking and serving area. They were very good at verifying that we were the customers and what we ordered. I had this company for my boyfriend's birthday party because I wanted the tortilla lady for fresh tortillas and the nice decor. I have see some run down presentations at parties in the past and this place promised nice table cloths, nice decor and nicely presented servers. Welp, that was not what I got. I'll attach a picture. Notice the crap under the tables. There is no decor- gross wrinkled tablecloths- one with a hole in it and the servers just had faded black clothes on. The tortillas were prepared prior to service and stores in a napkin covered bowl. Fresh enough, but I expected the tortillas to be made during service like I have seen so many times. I provided the tent, they drove their car up as you can see in the photo and left it right there. The guests liked the food and that wasn't the issue. My issue was the presentation. It was just tacky. I didn't get a chance to see the operation until after all of the guests had their food and I got a chance to eat- we had about 50 guests and I was busy and they Wed around the corner from the main area so I couldn't see them. I trusted them to do the job they said they would do. They even spelled out out in my contract. They said nice presentation with Mexican decor. In my contract- not just on the website. When I complained to the company, they gave me a 10% discount. I really didn't care about the discount. I wanted to rewind time and hire someone else. They ran out of food even though we calculated for 4 tacos per person. There definitely was not 400 tacos. I asked them to remedy the situation but they said they met their part of the contract. Thank God, i had the foresight to order more food from other places because i read previous reviews about them running out of food. I had to go through my credit card to get a partial refund. They served 75 people and had a wonderful flow of food, constantly refreshing the sides and taco meat to keep guests served timely. Everyone loved the food! They made fresh tortillas and fresh chips (perfectly crispy, not too thick and salted nicely). We chose carne asada, pollo asada and baja fish tacos so everyone found a variety of tacos that they liked. Both of the fresh green and red salsas were delicious! I was considering hiring a taco truck thinking it would be cheaper and after reaching out to about 8 vendors, I chose Tacos Don Jorge. Overall, the price point per person was less with much more food for a balanced meal (3 types of tacos, rice, beans, fresh chips, fresh juice and a salad).
