I had to try this. #1 in Oxnard for tacos according to Yelp So...I tend to agree. The place itself is on a busy street, tucked into a smaller complex. You don't come here for the view. You come here for tacos. I'm not talking about fake tacos like you see on tv for Taco Hell. I'm talking about real, homemade-style corn tortillas that are tender but firm enough to hold the carefully prepared meats that are treasured in the various states in Mexico: Al Pastor (shepherd-style pork) Carne Asada Birria Carnitas And more I got the combination plate with 3 tacos: asada, Al pastor, birria. I was impressed with the flavors and tenderness of the meats. The rice and beans tasted like home too. To top it off, the service was friendly and they honor military with a 10% discount. Great food! The salsa is a little hot from my liking, but it's very good. The birria tacos are so good.

One of the few places in our county that has green pozole every weekend and it is so good. The customer service was great as well. The parking lot is kind of small but as long as they're not busy, there's no issue with finding one spot in their lot. read more

The best Mexican food in Oxnard and beyond. The puffy taco is an amazing meal especially with al pastor or carnitas. Their meats are braised perfectly, the toppings are always fresh and a perfect cool contrast to the meat and tortilla. My 15 year old daughter is a huge fan of the ceviche. The salsa is outstanding, perfect amount of heat. Service is always good, superior to most counter order restaurants. Everything is clean. Can't recommend it enough. read more

Pozole Rojo is BOMB!! My family and I DoorDash it atleast 1x a month. It's sooo good and the spice is perfect. My only negative but it's not enough to take away a star is that their portions are starting to get smaller. But I do understand inflation and costs increasing. I still get a good meal out of my order and I'm happy. They do pack the container with good portions of meat. I'd rather have more meat than grano so that's why they don't loose any stars. I can't believe I've never come across this place before, but it will now be one of my go-to spots around the area! The customer service was also great- they were patient and helpful as we decided what to order. Puffy taco: This was really interesting and I've never had a taco like this before. Think fluffy, crunchy taco. It gets really messy and I had a hard time figuring out how to eat this but it was really delicious. We tried the puffy taco with carnitas. Hot porky taco: The hot cheeto tortilla doesn't really taste that different, but it makes for a fun photo op. There is plenty of meat inside and the hot cheeto crumbs added a nice texture. Hot cheeto shrimp taco: This was probably our favorite. Again, you can't really taste the hot cheeto tortilla, but the shrimp was nicely cooked and the sauce that came with it was soooo delicious. It tasted kind of like a chipotle sauce, not 100% sure but paired nicely with the shrimp. The tacos are gigantic and very decently priced at less than $5 per taco. They got some of the BEST empanadas I've ever had! The chicken empanada (chile verde chicken and cheese) and carnitas empanada are unmatched. Top tier. Standard Mexican food. I might have been expecting more. I had the carne asada fries. It taste good but doesn't have that fast food feel that makes you feel fat afterwards. I wish there was more guacamole and meat. The carne asada tastes pretty flavorful. The pozole was good but it wasn't what I'm used to. This is a legitimate, authentic taco place that I believe the locals keep as a secret. It's located in a nondescript small shopping strip next to a liquor store. So if you're following a map, pay close attention to the yellow flags advertising carnitas. We were in the mood for tacos and based on the yelp reviews we decided try Tacos El Brother. When we arrived around 3pm there was only one other group of people. After we made our order at the counter and sat down, 4 more groups of people came in. We got a total of 8 tacos: chicken, carnitas, beef and lamb. I have to admit, we all agreed that the hot cheeto Burris taco was the most flavorful, tastiest taco we've ever tasted! It doesn't taste like hot cheeto so keep that in mind. The chicken tacos were a little bland. The lamb tacos were a little gamey and heavy for my taste but the birria was the best! Unfortunately the bathroom was out of order and it seemed that some of the staff was still in training as they gave our tacos to a different table. However, I would definitely come back and have the Burria taco again! If you want an authentic flavorful experience, I encourage you to try this place out too. read more

In an area of great little Mexican food places El Brother is a standout. As authentic as it gets. A small family room joint with a couple of unusual items making it even more worth your time. It is easy to miss even knowing where it is... So look for the liquor store! Everyone is talking about their Hot porky taco which is very good, but don't over look some less talked about and reviewed dishes their chili relleno, the huevos rancheros and their Agua de Jamaica which is perfect, not too sweet. Yes the Hot Cheeto was a gimmick but they were delicious. Sprinkles of crushed cheetos gave it a nice texture. We went back at least 3 times to eat there!!! Hand made tortillas --top shelf!!!!--it's rare to find hand made anything these days. The staff was very nice. Everything is made fresh so you need to wait, we're from SF so waiting is normal for us. Wife was craving pozole so she checked Yelp and saw this place. Yelp definitely got this place right. The Red Pozole was excellent according to my wife. She downed the whole thing fast cause it was that good. I'm a burrito guy so I always go for a burrito. When I saw they had a Hot Cheetos Cali burrito, I knew I had to try it. All I can say is wow, it tasted great and was huge!! The hot cheetos adds another dimension to an already delicious burrito with its heat and crunch. Probably the best cali burrito in Ventura county for me.
