I had to try this. #1 in Oxnard for tacos according to Yelp So...I tend to agree. The place itself is on a busy street, tucked into a smaller complex. You don't come here for the view. You come here for tacos. I'm not talking about fake tacos like you see on tv for Taco Hell. I'm talking about real, homemade-style corn tortillas that are tender but firm enough to hold the carefully prepared meats that are treasured in the various states in Mexico: Al Pastor (shepherd-style pork) Carne Asada Birria Carnitas And more I got the combination plate with 3 tacos: asada, Al pastor, birria. I was impressed with the flavors and tenderness of the meats. The rice and beans tasted like home too. To top it off, the service was friendly and they honor military with a 10% discount. I really enjoyed my lunch here. I think you will too.

Tried this place for the first time a couple of weeks ago. I had excellent chilaquiles with 2 kinds of cheese. There were lots of worker types eating in here and most seemed to be eating giant bowls of Mexican soups. I need to go a couple more times to try the soup and of course the tacos!

They got some of the BEST empanadas I've ever had! The chicken empanada (chile verde chicken and cheese) and carnitas empanada are unmatched. Top tier. The empanadas are my fav thing off the whole menu so far. No one does it like em! 10 out of 10. I love that they have chicken empanadas here! For some reason Carnitas el brother (same owner) does not offer chicken empanadas which are my absolute fav.

I can't believe I've never come across this place before, but it will now be one of my go-to spots around the area! The customer service was also great- they were patient and helpful as we decided what to order. Puffy taco: This was really interesting and I've never had a taco like this before. Think fluffy, crunchy taco. It gets really messy and I had a hard time figuring out how to eat this but it was really delicious. We tried the puffy taco with carnitas. Hot porky taco: The hot cheeto tortilla doesn't really taste that different, but it makes for a fun photo op. There is plenty of meat inside and the hot cheeto crumbs added a nice texture. Hot cheeto shrimp taco: This was probably our favorite. Again, you can't really taste the hot cheeto tortilla, but the shrimp was nicely cooked and the sauce that came with it was soooo delicious. It tasted kind of like a chipotle sauce, not 100% sure but paired nicely with the shrimp. The tacos are gigantic and very decently priced at less than $5 per taco. I can't wait to come back for more!

Quesabirria taco. The consume was good but I've had better elsewhere.

Good food and decent prices. Good selection. Their puffy taco and hot Cheeto tacos were yummy! I'd recommend for authentic Mexican food!

Wow, this place is good. I highly recommend their green pozole. Very very flavorful and delicious. The chips were great as well. I will definitely be back and try the red version next time. I also would like to recommend their pan de elote. Must I say this little bread was perfectly moist. Very authentic Mexican food. A+ all the way.

This is a legitimate, authentic taco place that I believe the locals keep as a secret. It's located in a nondescript small shopping strip next to a liquor store. So if you're following a map, pay close attention to the yellow flags advertising carnitas. We were in the mood for tacos and based on the yelp reviews we decided try Tacos El Brother. When we arrived around 3pm there was only one other group of people. After we made our order at the counter and sat down, 4 more groups of people came in. We got a total of 8 tacos: chicken, carnitas, beef and lamb. I have to admit, we all agreed that the hot cheeto Burris taco was the most flavorful, tastiest taco we've ever tasted! It doesn't taste like hot cheeto so keep that in mind. The chicken tacos were a little bland. The lamb tacos were a little gamey and heavy for my taste but the birria was the best! Unfortunately the bathroom was out of order and it seemed that some of the staff was still in training as they gave our tacos to a different table. However, I would definitely come back and have the Burria taco again! If you want an authentic flavorful experience, I encourage you to try this place out too.

Great food! The salsa is a little hot from my liking, but it's very good. The birria tacos are so good.

With that being said, I wanted to try it out. This was about 2 years ago prior to this visit I had today at this location. I jotted the note down after overhearing him talking about it while watching Netflix. When arriving, the environment outside is run down, old fashioned and in the scary graffiti, homeless surrounding. Parking is difficult to find, but we got lucky me and a colleague. The place is on a road side where parking it located a few streets between about 100 feet away. The surrounding had graffiti and loitering which was unpleasant and I would imagine it is worse at night, be careful here! Inside, a wonderful aroma excites you as you enter the restaurant. Booths all around and hard uncomfortable seats. A lot of people came here today on Sunday afternoon. Customer service was excellent, the guy at the front was very chill, polite and acted as if I was his homie, buddy or good friend. This is what I like. I ordered the birria of course, a meat drenched in a bunch of flavors for days to keep the meat juicy, tender and moist. The variations ordered were three tacos plate with birria, onions cilantro and a consome that was massive. This meal was $17. The other order was a four piece birria quesadilla that was absolutely delightful, succulent and had a delicious hunger craving aroma and flavor that any starving or hungry person would die for! This plate was $14. The tacos did come with beans and rice. Between the two dishes the birria quesadilla was my favorite however, the tacos tasted better. The tortilla of the tacos was fresh and made with love. The value was regular, something I expected compared to taco trucks and side vendors of Mexican food. This place is extraordinary. I felt guilty after consumption because it was fatty, juicy and everything you would want in a pleasurable meal, but it was heavy on the calories and filling. It was a messy meal, I added salsas, more seasoning from the condiments bar. There were so many different sauces and fillings like lemon etc. to balance the flavors of the birria. The console incuded was an added kick that I loved. Definitely one of the best if not the best birria I ever had and I highly recommend this place if you like Mexican cuisine at its finest. An absolute hidden treasure that you need to try! I'll come back after a month of consistent cardio and strength training to burn enough fat and make room for another appetite that soothes my brain cells.

Place isn't too big inside and it was packed when we went on a Saturday afternoon. I was for sure going to get the nachos and tacos but wanted more. Jesus was kind enough to recommend the grilled cheese and burrito. Both were great recs and delish! I mean I thought about the grilled cheese and burrito days after. The horchata was creamy and you could tell it was made in house. This place is delish, no notes.

I went there for lunch on a weekday, and I was pretty pleased with the service and food. The woman at the counter did speak English so that's always feels more comfortable, especially if you have any special requests. They have an open kitchen where they assemble orders, and the cook was rather friendly. I ordered a roasted pork burrito (I can't remember the name, but it's not carnitas). The meat was tender and tasted like it was slow cooked. The tortilla is not anything special, but all the fillings (rice, beans) were good. There is larger rice than beans ratio, but they give plenty of meat protein. I have been here several times in the past. I remember totally ratchet seating areas, where there were large holes in the floor. There seems to be some updates and the seating area is cleaned up (but I've only done takeout). They now also accept credit cards. For a low cost burrito, this is satisfying. Most burritos are ~ 10.
