Lengua burrito - stone cold cheese, cold beans.
    Andres C.

This place has been my go-to, but lately they have really fallen off the horse. Got a Lengua burrito and I swear, I touched the burrito and it was cold to the touch. Beans were cold, cheese was stone cold, and overall a bad burrito. Real shame from the burritos I would have here months ago.

My go to item here is their breakfast burritos. They're available from 8 am - 12 pm everyday. They already have a very minor kick of spice to it if you're not too into spicy food. I like to add their green salsa for extra spice and flavor. Their red salsa is the spiciest but the flavor of that red salsa isn't the best. What I like to do is mix it with the green salsa so I can get that extra spicy that I'm looking for and also a nice flavor of salsa from the green. They have a variety of salsa at their salsa bar. What I wish they had was cilantro, onion, and lemon at the bar as well that you can grab extra of.

Salsa bar was tasty, packed some heat, but the counter was tiny/nonexistent and the cups were super small and hard to pour into

Coming from LA, standards for Mexican food are probably pretty high. This was pretty good! Like 85% of the quality you can get in SoCal! Service was nice and friendly, and good atmosphere with the Latin music blasting over the speakers. Would probably take off a half star if I could just because the prices are a little high and the salsa bar was tiny and hard to scoop what you want. Great overall though!

Great food!! Service was good too. The menu is kind of limited we came to try the poblano/cheese tacos and they were good (maybe a little too much cheese) the poblano flavor was a little lost in all the cheese. But the food was delicious extremely flavorful I cannot wait to come back!! The line was constant and the patrons were happy.

After a few bites of asada burrito, lots of beans and filling.

Pretty good food, I had the asada burrito burrito. Large burrito and not bad flavor I think there are better asada burritos in the area. I think I will go back and try there tacos which looked really good, severs were friendly and food came verily quickly. The had a nice looking salsa bar, but no containers to get, so had to but directly on food. The restaurant seemed very nice inside.

Came here on a Tuesday night with a few girlfriends. They have plenty of seating so we ordered to eat there. The food was delicious and honestly rivaled some of the Mexican food I have eating all my life while living in LA. My The only issue was the food (two tacos took over 25 minutes. My friends said that wasn't normal and normally it takes around 10 minutes. I come to this area a lot so I will give it another go and hopefully don't have to wait as long. I really enjoyed the barbacoa and pollo taco's I had and am looking forward to trying more things on the menu. Overall 3.5/5 stars

There are few places that I catch myself returning to over and over again, and this is probably my number 1! I have been here at minimum once a month for the last year and the food is consistently fresh and flavorful. The vegan tacos and vegan and gluten free, but I add cheese to them. The roasted jalapeños that you can grab by the salsa bar add even more flavor to the meal. I recommend the salsa verde that is a yellow green color with the jalapeños on your tacos! The burritos are MASSIVE and my spouse can't stop ordering the barbacoa. You could easily make one burrito into two meals. The cucumber agua Fresca is my absolute favorite that I have tried, and is the perfect post hike hydration. I do recommend ordering online if you are in a rush on a weekend evening as they can become incredibly busy and table space is hard to come by- for a good reason!!

Not sure you can call this an authentic taco when it's just jammed with dry chicken in a soggy soft taco shell and no toppings.

This is a great restaurant. The restaurant is clean and the ambience is really cool. I like the menu written on the black chalk board with all of the different ways a person can order tacos, burritos, quesadillas, and anything else. The staff is really kind and nice. They have excellent customer service. I enjoy the salsa bar. The first time I went, I ordered the Carne Asada burrito with no beans. I did not get a receipt so I had to guess what number I was because they were busy and I accidentally grabbed someone's burrito because it had beans in it. The quality of the burrito was still good even with the beans. The second time I went, I ordered the Carne Asada quesadilla. It was seasoned so well and delicious. This is definitely the Mexican restaurant. I will frequent in Aurora.

    Birria tacos y consomme

I went to Metate for lunch again today--on a bank holiday with unlimited time to go further. There aren't many reasons I brave the city of Aurora's civil engineers' sadistic I-225 crossings. They resemble the Great Wall of China, keeping Denverites at bay. Metate is worth enduring the fecklessly timed traffic lights on 6th, Alameda, and Mississippi. But I digress. My last review here came several years ago. This place deserves another star. While the asada, pastor, carnitas, barbacoa, and shrimp tacos can't lose, new items have been on my plate lately. The menu's expanded nicely. Two weeks ago, enchiladas verdes came Mexican-style w asadero and verde sauce. No green chile, No yellow cheese. Just delicious. Today, birria tacos took sabroso to new heights. Birria is trendy and found all over the Metro. I can't say I've had better. Five Front Range stars for overall taste, quality, and friendly/efficient service.

    The service was outstanding!

Are their Burria Tacos very Crunchy to chew?

What kind of meat is in the Tacos Birria's, please?

Does any of the food come with refried beans?

    Do they have alcohol?

Nope no alcohol, but they have a good selection of Jaritos bottled sodas as well as a few aguas frescas. Would be great if they had some liquor, though - their tacos would go so great with a marg!!

The street taco plate was delicious and you can't go wrong with the carnitas. For two people, ordered a set of 3 tacos (2x barbacoa and carnitas) and then another 3 tacos (asada, carnitas, and pastor), birria egg rolls, and a bean, cheese, and rice burrito. Not a big deal but they put all the tacos in one box and I was able to differentiate which 3 tacos that I ordered. This place is super stingy with salsa. They gave me 2 tiny containers for salsa and then when I asked for a couple more, the lady said she could only give me two more. :( Excited to try the food and started off great with a simple bean, cheese, and rice burrito but outside of that everything else was very meh. Not sure how but all the meats were so dry, I ordered braised/slow cooked meats (barbacoa and carnitas). Asada and pastor were okay as well. Everything lacked seasoning and the salsa didn't add much to the tacos either. Birria tacos were also dry and consommé needed salt to be added. Value was not bad at $37.64. Tacos were about $3-3.20 per

I'm always searching for a place that offers breakfast burritos, green chili, and a broader meat option for breakfast. After my dual personalities finished their wrestling match over choosing the food available to prepare at home (btw Da Big Spenda won the match), I made my way to Tacos La Morenita. I walked into a dimly lit, clean, organized place with futbol on the tv, music playing, and staff gathered near the bar. I was greeted immediately and requested a menu since I couldn't quickly locate what I was looking for on the LED-lit menu on the wall above the register. On the menu, I saw the breakfast burrito allowed for non-traditional meat to be added to include chicken which always brightens my heart to see (Ms. Piggy shouldn't still dominate breakfast foods & we don't all consume beef regularly). I decided to order a breakfast burrito with asada beef (my arteries were craving excitement), green chili inside. The wait was around five minutes for a freshly prepared burrito with a side of salsa verde. When I returned home, I opened the burrito and took my first delicious bite. :O:O ... How delightful! The inside was nicely gooey with the green chili and cheese inside. The eggs were fresh and hot. The asada was chopped more finely than I'm used to in a breakfast burrito which was pleasantly surprising as they meshed very well with the shredded potatoes which are my Favorite style of potatoes in a breakfast burrito. Then...the Salsa Verde... Everyone around here does their version of this salsa. I'm rarely satisfied with it. Many are just a very liquid, not very flavorful, small to mid 'pica' in my existence. I was expecting the same here. I noted the difference in appearance and texture right away when opening the container. Yes, it's green. Yes, it's salsa but it had more substance than most I've encountered around Denver metro. More similar to restaurant style. The seeds were also more plentiful as if it was a freshly made batch. I drizzled a bit on a corner of the burrito and took a bite. :O:O:O...The dance of flavor on my tongue made my booty wiggle. This salsa is seriously a standout. It is milder but what it lacks in spice it makes up for in flavor. I mean, I would be interested in purchasing jars of this salsa just like I do from Yolanda's Tacos. As I stated, I'm sad I've waited so long, passing this place time and again, without trying it all these years. Now, that I know what it's been hiding, I will definitely visit again for the breakfast burritio but look forward to exploring the rest of the menu, as well.
