Hosted a colleague from out of state and he wanted something that "Colorado was known for." So took him to get Mexican. We walked in and seated and greeted right away. There are tables and booths. Chips and salsa are given right away when you sit. There are many menu items to choose from and once we ordered, the food arrived shortly after. They do charge if you have a refill on chips and salsa, which is unfortunate. The server was attentive as well. I will be back to Las Fajitas when I'm in the area. The standout by far was the chicken fajitas--loaded with tender, juicy white meat, perfectly seasoned, and generously served with guac, rice, and beans. So flavorful and satisfying. The taquitos, unfortunately, were a letdown--dry and lacking much filling. The asada burrito also missed the mark, mostly stuffed with refried beans and barely any meat. We had dinner at Las Fajitas last Friday night and really enjoyed it. Our server, Marten was very nice, friendly, and attentive and he made the dining experience very enjoyable and inviting. We have been unpleasantly surprised at the price of the Mexican restaurants in this area so we decided to try something new. The reviews were decent so we stopped in & we're glad we did. Low-key hole in the wall in a strip mall surrounded by Asian spots. But the vibe was chill, the food came out hot & was really good. Salsa was on point. Not too spicy but flavorful. The chips are really good & sprinkled with some sort of yummy powder. The only complaint was that the only beer they had on tap was Dos Equis Amber and it was FLAT & tasted watered down, so I took a star away for it...it was 22oz for $8.50, I was wanting a Modelo and surprised they didn't have it. The margs seem pricey so I skipped one this time. $11-13 for a small, larges were $20!!! Also, the sign coming in said the first basket of Chips n salsa was free but 3.99 each after that. Which was kinda funny to me. Also I read that refills aren't free. We didn't get one so I'm unsure of this. I ordered off the Ala Carte menu & got a beef enchilada & hard taco for $9. Can't beat it. They made ever excuse about my order they got wrong down to telling me I should read the menu. When you first walk in you get a good feeling it's a good tasting restaurant. Small mexico feel. Nice atmosphere. That's about it when it comes to the good stuff. Besides the homemade beans. OmGosh. The beans are to die for. Was seated right away with no one in the restaurant. We sat for about 5 minutes before giving the menu. A good 20 minutes after that was asked if we were ready. We have been looking for good Mexican food since we moved up here 9 years ago (from Albuquerque), and while it's of course not NEW Mexican cuisine, we have finally found it! I had the steak fajitas (well, because of the name and server recommendation,,) and they were delicious. The guac is outstanding and my margarita was legit! The atmosphere is clean and authentic looking. Our server, Martin, was the friendliest and most attentive server I've had in along time. (I almost suspect he is "owner family" because he was soooo good!??) If not, he's just a badass server! I really used to like this place. I moved to the Southlands area several months ago, prior to living here I went to the Havana location for years. I was excited when I learned there was a location close by. Between dine in and take out I would eat at this restaurant 2-3 times a week. There are better places but the food is pretty consistent and their prices are reasonable. I recently had a to go order and my order was not completed properly. When I asked to have the order completed properly the manager became very confrontational and I was told I would need to pay more money. I refused to pay more money for something that was supposed to included in my order and ultimately left w/o the food and w/o paying because I was not going to pay for an incomplete order and I was not going to pay more to have the order completed. Shortly after I left the restaurant I received a Voicemail on my phone from a man named Mario. Mario claimed to be the manager. Rather than calling to ask what occurred and how the situation could be remedied, Mario told me I can not come back to his restaurant. If Mario is reading this, don't worry Mario I had no intentions of going back after this experience. Your unprofessional voicemail reassured my decision to not come back and ensured I'd leave this review so people know how poorly your restaurant is managed. The management at this restaurant is terrible and the service has gone downhill. There are several other Mexican restaurants in the area and you'll be better served visiting them. read more

Mexican is my go-to comfort food after a rough day, and I've been on a quest to find just the right place. I happened upon this restaurant on my way home from running errands and recognized the name from previous Yelp searches. Let me just preface this by saying that I'm a bit picky when it comes to Mexican food. First and foremost, the restaurant must offer free chips & salsa, and they must be good. If the food is only so-so but they have stellar chips & salsa, I'll ALWAYS go back. The food is not nearly as important as the quality of the salsa. I fill up on that anyway, so the rest is just an encore. This place made my day by including their chips & salsa with my to-go order (bonus!). However, the chips seemed stale so it was difficult to tell if the salsa was any good (sad!). It ruined my salsa experience. Based on appearance alone, I'd guess the salsa is good, though I prefered the look of the salsa that came with my tacos instead of the one offered with the chips. It seemed like they should have been switched around. Next up: Queso dip. I can't remember what this is called on the menu so I'll just call is queso. I've been searching for a great queso and had high hopes for this one. But again, the chips sullied my queso experience. It tasted pretty good, I think, but something was a bit off. It might have been the bad chips or the fact that it was a little runny for my tastes. I'd like to try it again one day with fresher, thinner chips. Main course: Chicken street tacos with rice and beans. The rice & beans were yummy and tacos decent. I didn't get that ohmygoshthisissooooogood! feeling but also wasn't complaining. They weren't the best I've ever had but were good enough that I'd possibly order them again. All in all, I'd probably rate this a 7 out of 10, but since I can't choose 3.5 out of 5, I'm rating them a 4. A 3 just isn't high enough. read more

I thought this was our place. Thought we found that place yesterday. Yesterday, we stopped by and it was good, but needed a little more salsa.. We decided to go again today and asked for one of those very small salsa mini cups and they did not like that ask. They ended up telling me to pay for the cup. Well, since they're all right next to one another, why don't I just go ahead and complete the hat-trick now? Some of the best dishes at Las Fajitas, in my ever-so-humble (ha!) opinion, are the ones that take the everyday Mexican classics and put just that slight spin on them to make them stand out. For example, the eatery is one of the few places I can think of locally where one can get a chile relleno stuffed with chicken in addition to cheese. Alternatively, try one of their "Especial" burritos, like the one packed with chunks of tender beef awash in the spicy, brick-red stew known as Chile Colorado. If instead you prefer that *other* tortilla-based dish, I believe you'll heartily approve of the Enchiladas Del Mar, whose thick jalapeño/cream cheese sauce hides a filling of krab and baby shrimp. And many Mexican places serve bacon-wrapped shrimp, but I ask you - how many think to side them with ranch dressing? Yes, culinary curveballs abound at Las Fajitas - and luckily they all taste phenomenal. But you know, sometimes it's good to get back to basics, isn't it? And as it turns out, fans of the popular faves will find themselves in good hands here too. If you get there early enough, their Huevos Rancheros feature *three* green-chile-and-cheese smothered eggs in addition to beans, rice and tortillas - you won't be eating for a while after that one! Card-carrying carnivores can partake in an order of succulent pork chops, or marinated grilled chicken, or a ribeye steak, while veggie devotees will find that the spinach enchiladas or black bean burrito will suit them to the proverbial "T". And if indecision is getting the best of you, never fear - their substantial A La Carte section will let you have a grand old time mixing and matching to your heart's content. When you visit a place that has the name of a dish they serve, you know that dish is going to be one of two things: traditional and delicious, or a a touristy disappointing "take" on the dish. So yes, I had the fajitas - and yes, they were delicious. I had the steak fajitas, which came out sizzling and steaming hot - as they should. This was quite the heap of fajitas! The meat was tender and well marinated, especially compared to other fajitas I've had in town - very tasty and hit the spot. Copious amounts of onions and peppers came along for the ride too. The tortillas didn't seem freshly made, but were warm, soft, and did the trick (NOTE: extras are $1.25). The Spanish rice had tons of flavor, while the beans were your standard beans. The guac was pretty bland, but the pico decent. The free chips and salsa were good, but pretty standard too. But the important thing was that the main dish delivered. Prices were decent, especially for the amount of food. This place is pretty small, but cozy - it actually felt like a Tex-Mex joint. Despite the size, they somehow fit a keyboard, mic, and speakers in a corner for a lady to sing. It was a bit cheesy, and I loved it :D It kind of accented the cozy vibe, and the kids were certainly enjoying it too. I've been reluctant to try such places in Denver, but glad I came in. Since this place is called Las Fajitas, shouldn't I try their fajitas? The service is a bit slow. They weren't even half full and the wait staff acted like they were extremely swamped. Once the waitress came over, I ordered the chicken fajitas and a large melon margarita. Brian got the mango margarita and the chicken fajita burrito. They came out piping hot. The fajitas were sizzling and smelled delicious. The portions are extremely huge. We should have split a meal because we had a ton of leftovers. My fiancé and I have have tried this place a few times over the last several years since they are the closest Mexican restaurant to us, and the first couple times with a bad server we though they might have just had a bad night, and wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. After our most recent trip we've decided to throw in the towel for good. We ordered fajitas for two and they brought us 4 tortillas to start. Every time we asked for more, they took forever and only brought 2 at a time. Eventually we just gave up and decided save the rest for leftovers to eat with tortillas at home. When we got the bill they had charged us an additional $1.25 per tortilla. They added $10 to our meal for some thing that was supposed to be included with it to begin with. Your money is better spent at literally any other Mexican sit down restaurant within a mile of this one. If you are going here because it is close, go to the place across the street.
