Barbacoa (left) and al pastor (right) tacos
    Della S.

The people working here are so nice and the food is great, too! You can pay by cash or by Zelle. I decided to try their tacos ($3 each) with al pastor and barbacoa, which came with a side of grilled onions and peppers. The tortillas are soft, fresh, and do not rip when you pick up the food. Both types of meat I tried were tasty. The salsa they give you is on the milder side, but if you want something with a spicier kick then I recommend trying the grilled pepper. I stopped by on a random weekday at 11am so it wasn't too busy yet. They prepared my food quickly after I ordered and I got to eat at one of the lined tables in the covered area behind the truck. They keep a tupperware container of napkins at the table and bring the salsa from its cold storage to your table so that it stays fresh between customers. There is also a large speaker that plays music, so it is not a bad vibe at all for a taco truck next to a gas station!

Pastor super burrito! Lots of meat!!

I drive past this truck all the time, and finally stopped to try it on a whim and I'm so glad I did!! Grabbed a pastor super burrito for myself and two pastor tacos for my brother! The burrito is amazing, lots of flavor, and a great balance of meat/rice/sour cream/avocado/etc!! The tacos were also really good, I'd post a picture of those too but they disappeared too quickly! Will definitely get more than two of those next time!

The super burrito is a 5 star feast. Half a chicken burrito is enough for a meal and they are delicious. It's a little treat.

Their Al pastor tacos are cheap and delicious, as is everything on the menu!! They also have an area set up to enjoy your meal.

Today, I decided to order the Chicken Fajitas, and it completely exceeded my expectations. Without a doubt, it was the most delicious fajitas dish I have ever had. The chicken was perfectly seasoned, the vegetables were cooked just right, and all the flavors came together beautifully. Everything was cooked to perfection. The portion size was very generous, and the sides were fantastic. The guacamole, sour cream, Spanish rice, and black beans were all fresh, flavorful, and complemented the meal perfectly. I've always enjoyed the food here, but from now on the Chicken Fajitas will definitely be my regular order. Well-deserved 5 stars. Thank you, El Halal Amigos!

I finally decided to give it a try after hearing about the restaurant from food reviewer Dave fiore text. As someone who absolutely loves tacos and is always on the hunt for great local taco spots, I was excited to see how this place compared to some of my favorites. I ordered four different tacos, and overall, they were pretty good. They weren't bad by any means, but they also didn't quite blow me away. The meat was cooked well, the tortillas were fresh, and the tacos had good flavor. The salsa was decent too, although I personally prefer something with a little more kick. Everyone has different tastes, so this is just my opinion. One thing I really appreciated was how clean and organized the restaurant was. You can tell they take pride in keeping the dining area nice and welcoming. The staff was friendly, and my food came out quickly. It's always a good sign when a restaurant pays attention to both cleanliness and customer service. I've eaten at a lot of taco places throughout the Bay Area, so I naturally compare every new place to some of my favorites. While El Halal Mexican Restaurant didn't make the top of my list, I still had a good experience and I'm glad I finally gave it a shot. Not every restaurant has to be your favorite to be worth visiting. I also like supporting family-owned businesses because I know how much hard work goes into running a local restaurant. They deserve credit for creating a clean, welcoming place and serving quality food. Will I come back? Maybe. If I do, I'd probably try something different on the menu instead of the tacos. Sometimes a restaurant's best dish isn't the first thing you order, and I'd be interested in seeing what else they have to offer. Overall, I'd give El Halal Mexican Restaurant a solid 4 out of 5 stars. It was a good experience, I'm happy I finally got to try it, and if you're in the Willow Glen area, it's worth stopping by and deciding for yourself.

The portions are serious, the chicken is juicy, and the breading has a great crunch. What really sets them apart for me is the spice. I've had levels 3, 4, and 5, and they're not simply the same seasoning with progressively more heat. Each level actually has a different pepper profile and flavor. Level 3 brings cayenne and Thai chili, level 4 moves into Thai chili and habanero, and level 5 adds habanero and ghost pepper. You can taste the difference, not just feel more burn. The seasoned fries are great too and they definitely don't skimp on the portions. It is a little pricey for a chicken sandwich and fries, but when you see the size and quality of what you're getting, I think it's worth it. Scratch is easily one of my favorite hot chicken spots.

We ordered the Texas chicken sandwich and chicken strips. Portions were generous, and the sandwich was super tasty. The strips were fresh and flavorful, but be careful with the spice levels! We ordered level 1 and it was flaming hot. Even level 0 has a kick, so I'd recommend going one level lower than you normally would. The curly fries were also great. Overall, a solid 4/5. The only star off was for the spice-level calibration. Great food and portions, and we'll definitely be back!

At this particular location, the trucks only come out on Friday night, with 9-11 different trucks to choose from. They also provide live music and fun games for the family.
