Senor Taco at 1375 Blossom Hill Rd, Ste 11, San Jose, CA 95118 (Next to Cup & Saucer) is an amazing little hole in the wall Mexican restaurant that I've been going to prior to COVID. Designed primarily as a take out, it does have some tables and chairs to eat there if you desire. It has a wonderful salsa bar filled with all my favorites. The restaurant is kept very clean and the staff has always been polite and attentive. It is family owned and operated and everything they make is fresh and delicious. It is a family friendly environment and the pricing is fair. I really like how they give chips with your order and have a great selection of Jarritos soda to choose from. The burritos, tacos, quesadillas, rice, beans, and everything else I've tried are outstanding, not too salty. I've never had a bad meal there. I'll just say ditto to all the other positive reviews. The few negative reviews over the last year refer to delivery services, website, or a bad eating experience. I really can't comment on this as I don't use those services or order from websites (often higher prices). However, Senor Taco is always busy with customers and I've seen lots of take out each time I go there. I really like this place and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND it!

After living in the South Bay most of my life, I am surprised that I did not find this place sooner. The place looks clean, and there is even a small sink to wash your hands by the wall. The salsa bar has more than 3 standard salsas with grilled chile pepper, radishes and grilled onion. I ordered grill fish that came with rice, beans, salad, choice of corn or flour tortilla, and chips for $17.50. Nice meal under $20! The food was flavorful and family style Mexican food. I see they also sell the meat by the pound if you are hosting a party. I would definitely come back and try other entrees.

Good portion and yummy! Great taqueria find! So I actually found this place by accident since the taco place that I was gonna go to was closed on New Years. I really enjoyed the super burrito from here and usually am more picky on my burritos. My friend got the Super Burrito (Carnitas-fried pork) without beans" and the rice and meat was seasoned well! We both shared our food so we could try both food. I got 2 Sopes (1 carne asada (beef) and 1 al pastor (pork)- not the plate. I've only tried Sopes from a taqueria in LA and am used to the hard crunch wrap but here they had a softer doughty texture which was different but interesting and gave generous portion- I felt like the sopes was missing a sauce so poured the avocado salsa over it which I definitely recommend since it added more flavoring. I would also recommend adding Parmesan cheese on the sopes if you buy it to go and eat it at home. . it adds a great flavor Taqueria gives free chips as well but I was kinda confused when asked if we wanted any chips since usually other places just give it without asking (was wondering if we were gonna get charged extra). Besides that, friendly staffs, quick service and yummy meal! Great place to grab your Mexican food cravings! There's also plenty of parking spaces in the parking lot that they share with other businesses. Note: I also love that they have a sink on the side in the store for us without having to go to the restroom. I always wash my hands after I eat so this was so convenient.

    Shrimp Tacos, HUGE!!

I love this local taqueria, they have very generous portions and their prices are very reasonable. I got the shrimp tacos for around 6.00 each, but they came LOADED and they were huge, I'm glad I didn't get 3 because I could barely finish the 2 I got. Food comes out quickly and the staff is very kind. They give complementary chips that are served warm and you can grab any salsa and toppings at the self serve salsa bar. The restaurant is on the smaller side but there's surprisingly a lot of room for seating. Lots of tables. Highly recommend!

Chili Verde Burrito served with wet with sauce, beans and no rice.

Senior Taco is an excellent restaurant that is family owned by Kevin and his parents. I always order the wet chili verde burrito which is one of the best I've had and request to have it prepared with beans, no rice and sauce on top of burrito and also inside. They also make very good tacos and steak fajitas. Chips are provided at no cost and there's a complimentary fresh salsa bar. There's even a little faucet and sink next to the salsa bar to wash your hands. Place is kept very clean and prices are very affordable. I highly recommend Senor Taco if you enjoy Mexican food.

I came in today (Tuesday) at about 11:30AM. There were a few customers there but by the time I left, it was pretty full. It is a small restaurant but they used the room that they do have for plenty of seating. Their parking lot is huge as it's shared with the Outdoor hardware/landscape store and a handful of other businesses. I wanted to ask to use their bathroom but they didn't seem to have one. If they did you might have to walk back into the kitchen area. The owner was very kind and you can tell he's passionate about his business and he wants to succeed. The service was spot on! The food did take a little bit to come out but everything's made to order. So zero complaints there. This was my first time there and they did not disappoint! I got one pastor and one asada and the portions were huge!! I tried their spicy red sauce and it is in fact, spicy. I liked their house red salsa and their orange sauce the best. The orange sauce is savory with a little heat to it. Their portions were huge too. It kind of threw me off as I didn't expect that. I always take the tortillas apart and make2 tacos out of one lol and they legitimately 4 full tacos. They have a self serve salsa bar with a bunch of options! I'll definitely be back!!! When I was refilling my drink I glanced at others people's food and the portions were all large. Prices are average but so worth it. $3 per taco and more for the specialty meats but it's all clearly labeled.

Side order of chips and guacamole.

First time trying their food and I ordered it via delivery. All items I purchased were in the bags which can be a gamble when ordering several things via delivery. I really love lengua so I ordered a taco to give it a try. I sadly was not impressed with the lengua. It was bland and lacking flavor. Paying the extra 2.00 for this meat choice was not worth it. I also ordered the enchiladas & a side of Guacamole and chips. Both were pretty good! Their rice and beans taste authentic. I also really liked the red sauce on the enchiladas, which tasted homemade. Their horchata was also good! Nothing stood out to me but I would probably try their business again but will for sure not get the lengua.

Chile Verde super burrito Mojado. The true belly bomb!

I have been going to Senor Taco for years and never had an issue until tonight. I ordered a chicken taco salad. I had eaten about have when I bit down on something hard. I set tge item aside thinking it was a rock. Once I cleaned it off I discovered it was a chunk of steel. Not good.

After a music concert my group was hungry and my best friend suggested this place as it was relatively close to his home. I ordered a Pork belly Quesadilla and a Carne Asada Burrito for my lady and I was insanely surprised. I never seen pork belly offered so I figured I'd give it a try. It wasn't too bad but the carne asada tasted so savory and so different and delicious compared to other places. For the price we paid too I think this place is hard to beat. Definitely a "must-try" place in my opinion.

I got the al pastor tacos, and they were really good. I also liked that they give you grilled onions and lime on the side. We also tried the quesadillas, which were huge and had a really good serving size. We got a strawberry agua fresca and horchata as well, and both were good. Our group of six spent around $80 altogether, which I thought was pretty reasonable considering the portions and the amount of food we got. The food came out quickly too. After we ordered, I'd say it took 10 minutes or less, so we really didn't have to wait long. My only suggestion would be more seating. There were only about two tables when we went, and if other people are already sitting there, it can feel a little awkward having to share a table with people you don't know. I definitely think there's room for improvement there. Overall, for trying this place completely blind, I was really impressed. The tacos were good, the portions were generous, the food came out fast, and the price felt fair for our group. I'd definitely come back!

I had a very concerning experience with my order and would like to request a full refund if possible. This was my first time ordering from this restaurant, and unfortunately, the entire experience raised serious concerns about food quality, cleanliness, and possible cross-contamination. I ordered a quesadilla, and from the first bite, something seemed seriously wrong. The tortilla and filling had an overwhelming burnt, extremely charcoal-like aftertaste that made the food taste as though it had been prepared on an extremely dirty or poorly maintained cooking surface. This was not simply a matter of the food being slightly overcooked or having a burnt grill taste the taste was unsanitary and unpleasant. The meat was also excessively fatty and of such poor grade quality that I could barely tolerate the texture or taste. I am generally not someone who complains about meat quality, but the combination of the questionable meat and the strong, dirty taste of the cooking surface made the quesadilla completely inedible. Now here's the more upsetting part: I also ordered two carne asada tacos, but instead received three tacos, including one containing what appeared to be pork intestines or another type of miscellaneous meat that I absolutely did not order. I do not eat pork, and the texture of this meat was slimy and the smell of it was extremely unpleasant. More concerningly, the meat appeared to have come into contact with the carne asada tacos as well. I unfortunately did not inspect the order before taking a bite, so I accidentally bit into the taco containing the unidentified meat. I was immediately nauseated and genuinely felt like I was going to vomit. I attempted to eat the carne asada tacos afterward, but I could taste what appeared to be the same miscellaneous meat mixed into them. I noticed that the tortillas themselves had the same strong burnt, charcoal-like flavor as the quesadilla, which further contributed to my concerns about the cleanliness and condition of the cooking surface. Because the unidentified meat appeared to have contaminated or mixed with the food I actually ordered, I ultimately could not eat any of the tacos. The horchata was another major concern. It had an unusually unpleasant taste that I have never experienced from horchata before. It tasted stale and potentially contaminated, almost as though something unsanitary had come into contact with it. I cannot say exactly what caused the taste, but it was sufficiently abnormal that I did not feel comfortable drinking it. Ultimately, I ate only approximately one bite of the quesadilla and a single bite of each type of taco before throwing the food away. Shortly afterward, my stomach was already growling and I felt extremely uncomfortable. This was not simply a matter of the food not matching my personal taste. I am concerned about the apparent lack of cleanliness, the burnt/dirty taste throughout the food, the unidentified meat being included in an order where it was not requested, and the apparent cross-contact between that meat and the carne asada I ordered. I would strongly encourage the restaurant to review its food-preparation, cooking-surface sanitation, ingredient handling, and order-assembly procedures. I am pretty upset that I ate something I didn't order and have no idea what it is. Given that I was unable to safely or reasonably consume essentially any of my order, I would appreciate a full refund.

I finally decided to give it a try after hearing about the restaurant from food reviewer Dave fiore text. As someone who absolutely loves tacos and is always on the hunt for great local taco spots, I was excited to see how this place compared to some of my favorites. I ordered four different tacos, and overall, they were pretty good. They weren't bad by any means, but they also didn't quite blow me away. The meat was cooked well, the tortillas were fresh, and the tacos had good flavor. The salsa was decent too, although I personally prefer something with a little more kick. Everyone has different tastes, so this is just my opinion. One thing I really appreciated was how clean and organized the restaurant was. You can tell they take pride in keeping the dining area nice and welcoming. The staff was friendly, and my food came out quickly. It's always a good sign when a restaurant pays attention to both cleanliness and customer service. I've eaten at a lot of taco places throughout the Bay Area, so I naturally compare every new place to some of my favorites. While El Halal Mexican Restaurant didn't make the top of my list, I still had a good experience and I'm glad I finally gave it a shot. Not every restaurant has to be your favorite to be worth visiting. I also like supporting family-owned businesses because I know how much hard work goes into running a local restaurant. They deserve credit for creating a clean, welcoming place and serving quality food. Will I come back? Maybe. If I do, I'd probably try something different on the menu instead of the tacos. Sometimes a restaurant's best dish isn't the first thing you order, and I'd be interested in seeing what else they have to offer. Overall, I'd give El Halal Mexican Restaurant a solid 4 out of 5 stars. It was a good experience, I'm happy I finally got to try it, and if you're in the Willow Glen area, it's worth stopping by and deciding for yourself.
