Salsa (w/ Chips and Salsa)
Mark T.

There's no telling how many times I'd driven by Tacos El Tio wanting to try it. Finally, after a long day of driving, I was able to stop in. Let me give them credit for this: in the post-COVID world, places that are open 24-hours are a rarity. I am not someone who consumes tacos at 3am, but I appreciate the grind. I'd ordered the chips and salsa to start the experience and the Al Pastor Taco Dinner as my main. The chips and salsa were just fine, crisp, middle of the pack chips, a red-sauce, and a spicy green I thought was a spicy guac for an embarrassingly long period of time before having a "d'oh!" moment. The tacos were alright. The tortillas were lovely, having been griddled just enough. I am also a traditionalist when it comes to toppings, and believe it is hard to go wrong with onion and cilantro. However, when it came to the pork, it did not work for me. While I appreciate the protein was not skimped on, it was at the same time very dry. As for the pineapple, this was presented as a steak-fry-style slice at the top rather than being integrated into the meat. As for the accompaniments, the rice and beans were totally fine. Next, when it comes to their prices, I felt these were reasonable considering both the market and what you get. Finally, the service was friendly, and the food came out fast. Given that this is a counter-service/full-service hybrid type place, at times it was necessary to come up to the counter or do the little hand-raise, though that is to be expected. Final verdict: When I was in university, there was sub shop open late. The campus lore is that the food became better after midnight. Did it really? No. However, when you're hungry at that hour, everything starts to taste better, and the same applies here. If you want a taco at 2p, there is no shortage of better places (sorry), if you want a taco at 2am, time to set your GPS to Tacos El Tio.

A True Chicagoland Taco Gem! We stopped in at Tacos El Tio on Lincoln and were blown away from the very first bite. I had a steak taco and two chicken tacos, and each one was bursting with perfectly seasoned, tender meat and fresh toppings. My husband ordered a chicken burrito that was equally outstanding--huge, flavorful, and so satisfying. Beyond the food, the ambiance is absolutely charming--a cozy, colorful spot that makes you want to linger. The manager couldn't have been more helpful or friendly, and the entire staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome, which made the experience even more memorable. What makes Tacos El Tio even better is how accessible they are. They're on all the major delivery apps, so you can get their amazing tacos anytime the craving hits. And this Lincoln location is just one of nine across the Chicagoland area, a true testament to how beloved they are. They've truly become a Chicagoland staple, and it's easy to see why--delicious food, warm service, and that unmistakable neighborhood vibe. Whether you're dining in or ordering delivery, Tacos El Tio is a must-visit. We can't wait to come back!

I walked in and was greeted by a nice lady. I told her that I needed a moment since I was seriously hungry and indecisive. I decided on the steak burrito suizo dinner with a steak and al pastor taco on the side. As I was waiting on my food, I noticed how large the dining area was. They what looked to be a telenovela on the tv. With drink and dessert fridge. And I love the nod to the previous restaurant that was there. I got my food and drove home. Everything was still plenty warm. The burrito was swimming in a sweet tomato broth. It was decent sized burrito but the broth just made it hard to eat. The meat was tender but the flavors were muted and was taken over by the sweetness of the broth. The rice and beans were okay. The steak taco was good as well as the al pastor taco. What really made the flavor was the two salsas. I mean this is my type of heat level. I will have to try them again and order a different type of burrito.

The restaurant inside has really nice Mexican decor and art, and it seems pretty spacious. The customer service was great too. It seems family-owned! The tacos are good. The al pastor tacos were flavorful and decently spicy. The trips were good, and could be crispier too. The only thing I was disappointed about was their lengua taco. It wasn't lengua. I think they gave beef brisket. My brother and I had the same meat for our lengua tacos and the texture and meat looked like the meat you get in pho. It still tasted good, but that's not what I ordered. Overall, I'd recommend it because I like supporting family-owned businesses, and their food is good. I'd also come back because it is close to home.

They've been open for several months now, take both cash and credit, and they're 24 hours. They've become my husband's favorite authentic tacos so we come here a lot. My daughter loves their steak quesadilla. Dine in or carry out, I don't think you can go wrong here.

My first time here, and it was such a great experience. Delicious food and a really fun vibe!…read more We walked in around 12:30pm Saturday, and even though the place was pretty packed, we were seated right away! I ordered the Paloma, and my husband got the Michelada, both super refreshing and made well. For food, I ordered the El Gringo with rice and salad. I definitely wish I had swapped the salad for beans, because my husband got both rice and beans, and I ended up finishing my rice and helping with his too lol. Highly recommend this dish, just go for the beans instead of the salad! My husband also ordered three tacos: Al Pastor, Chorizo, and Carne Asada, all of which were really good. One of the fun touches is that they have QR codes at the table to leave a Google review, and if you do, you get to spin a prize wheel. Of course I had to try it, and it made the whole experience even more fun. I ended up winning a free double shot! The staff were all super friendly, the restaurant was clean, and the music gave it a fun, vibrant atmosphere. I'd definitely come back!
