Horrible experience every time i come here the cashier named Angie always has such a horrible attitude for no reason. Especially today i came in a ordered A bunch of food and she only gave me 5 little cups of sauce so i asked for a few extra and she said it's going to be extra i was like okay how much is it going to be it was $1 dollar per little cup i was like it's okay. But i literally see her giving other customers extra without a charge. I just don't get the attitude if you don't like to give good customer service why are you here. i used to come multiple times a week but stopped coming because of her. I don't mind paying but it's the fact that she was only trying to charge me. read more

One of the best spots in town for tacos!! I am a person who loves their carnitas crispy and these did not disappoint. Neither did the grilled chicken. I had to try a few different ones, I had the grilled chicken, carnitas and a chorizo. All were delish! Loved the corn tortillas as well. Important note, this is no longer a food truck but a restaurant since they sold their food truck a long time ago. When I first tried this place it had not opened and the street tacos were ok but not the best in town. Service was poor self-service at a counter and then they expected a tip so that upset a lot of customers. The ambiance was spartan and the tables were not very clean, but at least the pickled carrots and salsa bar were good. However since then they have let their food quality slip and health and safety fail: https://apps.co.merced.ca.us/publicapplets/pages/foodinspect/FoodInspectDetail.aspx?id=FA0005173 Yelp seems to have missed this too, so it will require the community to inform people of this now dangerous health hazard until they improve. One of the top five worst food inspections in Los Banos in the last year! So you have a promotion of $1.85 tacos for Tacos Tuesday that say $1.85 Tacos of Asada, pollo, el pastor. But you say Asada aint on promotion. Excuse me what? Okaayyyy. Been looking for a taco place for quite a while in town. Most carne asada is dry and this restaurant was no exception but their chicken is very good so we will stick to that. Today I had a craving for tacos. I went by and ate at the new Tacos El Tono which is at Biggin's Texas BBQ's old location at G and 9th. My goal was to find the rightly broiled Al Pastor taco and they didn't let me down. Now the impressive part of these tacos is the crispiness of the meat and the thin, sliced pineapple pieces on each taco. Mexican food is not new to me, but trying some new things here. Suadero is beef, and I was told it's brisket. The tacos de suadero are excellent. Also tried a chavindeca, a dish from Michoacán. It's a quesadilla with meat. We tried it with birria, so, very similar to a quesabirria. My SIL had a torta, and although I didn't taste it, it looked delicious. We'll be back to try more. read more

I love bean and cheese burritos so I decided to stop in and give them a try. Upon entering the restaurant, the first thing that grabbed my attention was how clean and tidy everything was inside. That was positive. After checking the menu, I went to the counter and asked if they had a bean and cheese burrito, since it wasn't listed on the visible menu. The employee said they did and proceeded to take my order. For less than $7, the burrito I received was huge! The beans are very tasty and did not taste burnt as they often do at some restaurants. All in all, I would definitely recommend this restaurant and I will be going back soon to try other things from their menu. read more

This is a must try for LB. I was pleasantly impressed with the quality of food and the portions. The location is a little off the beaten but path but I do hope they stick around. It will help once the new police building opens up. Everyone's a little pretentious when it comes to their tacos including myself. My go to place is Tacos Ameca in gilroy or a hand full of spots in Turlock. I couldn't find a taco I liked in LB until now. I'll definitely be a returning customer. I ordered Tacos El Tono tonight on Doordash and was really impressed. I tried a Quesadilla de suadero (brisket), some tacos de asada and al pastor. The quesadilla was off the charts good. From the meat that was melt in your mouth good to the tortilla that was thick and fluffy, this was an awesome quesadilla. The tacos al pastor I really enjoyed. Their pastor has a unique flavor that I really enjoyed. The chicken tacos were also good, but the pastor was more of a standout to me. I highly recommend trying this place out. I order some tacos an horchata water, I asked for chips as they are free, when paid I did not tip as I thought it was not necessary, well the cashier immediately noticed that and her face changed, well typical I get my horchata right away even when there's people behind me, this time she took her time to served me the horchata, and the chips never showed up, when it was time to get my tacos she would not even bring it to my table the taquero hand it to her and she denied it, forcing him to do her job, I was the only costumer for at least 10 min. I just want to start off by saying the customer service was excellent when I came in. The cashier was very attentive and took my order, informed me that there were salsas at the counter and to help myself. She also offered me free chips while I waited for my food. I came in for their taco Tuesday special and expected skimpier tacos like many places do on taco Tuesday's. I was pleasantly surprised when I got my tacos and they were loaded with meat and all of the fixings like radish, grilled onions, cucumber, limes, and a roasted chili pepper. Nowadays, a lot of restaurants or food trucks don't include those in order to save on costs. As for the food the chicken and pork were super soft and the pork was sliced super thin right off of the trompo where they cook the meat and slice as it cooks. Some places I've gone to have al pastor meat in chunks and often it has pieces of gristle or fat but this meat was very tender. The only thing I did notice was that the meat had almost no flavor at all. I even ate the meat from one taco by itself to confirm and it didn't really have much flavor just color to it. I would suggest they add more salt and spices to their marinade for the al pastor and more seasoning to the chicken as well. What saved the tacos were all of the other ingredients and salsas so even though the meat wasn't flavorful the tacos were still decent. As to the cost around $1.56 isn't bad for tacos loaded with meat and with all of the fixings. The only thing I was disappointed with was the price of the Jarrito I bought for $3.12. I know drinks are more expensive at restaurants but I honestly wasn't expecting it to be 3x the cost of in store. It's a small detail but if I knew the price I wouldn't have bought it. They also don't have the prices listed anywhere on the menu which would be nice to be able to see beforehand. Overall I would come back here for their Taco Tuesday and give them another try to see if their meat has more flavor in case I went on an off day. read more

Best Al pastor tacos by far in Los Banos!! You can tell by how the meat is right off the trompo. Juicy and flavorful, they add the pineapple slices, cooked onions, and cooked jalapeño. This was a second visit to El Toño, driving from the Bay Area to Los Angeles. Again, impressed with the food (delicious!), the friendly service, and super-clean restroom. I had a "lengua" burrito, and my wife had a chicken burrito. The "Agua de Jamaica" (Iced Hibiscus Tea) was perfect. As you know, one burrito is often huge, and can easily be lunch, with the second half, as dinner. We traveled with our Cocker Spaniel, and happily ate outside the covered patio (99 degree weather was not that bad, when you're hungry). Definitely will visit El Toño again on our next trip through the Valley. read more

The flavors of the dish were excellent and would recommend it to anyone who would like something besides tacos and burritos. Only mark down is the offering of yellow corn tortillas, however I did like how they came out and I have no problem at all with it. Service was good, I placed my order and the dish came out on my plate well-prepared. There is a patio outside with plenty of shade, and although a couple of clay seating benches partially collapsed.
