It looked gorgeous, but it tasted like there was little to no alcohol in it. I'm a lightweight and typically feel the effects of a single drink, but I finished the entire cocktail and didn't feel anything. It was supposed to be made with mezcal tequila but I requested a substitution, so I'm not sure if that change was overlooked. The birria tacos were just okay. They do have a few tables outside where you can enjoy your food. There were times when I just took it to my car to eat so I can listen to my podcast. I remember a big spacious restaurant that had that special ambiance of character that I didn't know existed in the small town. I remember the staff being friendly and the food being quick and consistent of expectations with what I ordered. Fast forward to yesterday, our annual trip to the game, this time with my own boys (3&5). It was getting late on the drive home so we needed to stop for dinner. I told my pops about my memory of Espana's and I wanted to stop to see if it was what I remembered. My expectations were met with exactly the nostalgic memories I had of the place.
