I've walked by this place a lot when I go on my new 5 mile walk around the neighborhood. And sometimes, there is a huge line out here. The food absolutely smells amazing each time you walk by too, but it's not like I can just stop and eat here because that means that five mile walk I did was for nothing. But today... Today was the day to make my five mile walk for nothing!!! I decided to order a carne asada taco. It was $3. I wanted to try it because just looking at the meat each time, it looked amazing. Then they made it. And when they stacked on all the meat on top of the tortilla, it barely even all fit on there. But what do you do when you can't fit anything on top? The answer is simple. You get all the toppings you can like salsa and cilantro and so forth and stick it on top! I took a nibble of the meat before biting into the taco and I was like, you know what, this is it. This is what you want in a taco. This is high quality meat. Then when you blend all the ingredients together, you have everything you want. The service is solid. The ambiance is outdoors. Their fries even come out hot and fresh from an on-site fryer. My go-to is their super tender, fatty suadero! Crowd-favorite seems to be the al pastor - it's roasted with pineapple, bringing that yummy sweet-savory balance. The workers are generous with portions, loading up tacos, burritos, and nachos like they're feeding close friends, all at a price that feels like a steal. If I had to get tacos in ktown, this would be the spot. I like that they have clear signage about the prices and the menu offerings. They are also very clear about how to pay them. I paid cash. We got tacos Al pastor and carne asada fries. The Al pastor had a very deep marinated flavor and the pineapple was a good complement. The carne asada was good, the fries were very crispy and thin, which is different from the restaurant style. I like their open buffet of garnishes, sauces, and in front of the girdle they had grilled onions and jalapeños yoi could self-serve. The only downside is that there isn't a good, clean place to sit down and eat, but you could go to the parking lot behind it and probably eat at your car. They have a numbered receipt system, but the food came out fast. read more

While Tacos El Venado is not a taco truck -- these guys are in business as a taco street vendor also known as a taco stand so same difference. Our party of 5 collectively ordered 13 tacos. Everyone chose their meat preference. The tortillas are grilled upon order and then the meat of your choice is generously enveloped followed by plating. The tacos arrive as is and all the toppings and salsas are positioned in a bar for patrons to customize. I enjoy extra onions and cilantro on my tacos so I did just that. We all agreed that the tacos were exceptional. Really enjoyed the authenticity and quality of the tacos I ordered. All 5 of us were completely satisfied with the taco fix. Every time I'm in LA, I always make sure to hit up this spot. Tacos el Venado is a taco stand located across a Walgreens and is legit one of the best tacos I've had in terms of quality, quantity, and price. They load up their tacos as you can tell in these pics, and they're just $2 per, with the option of adding melted cheese (queso taco) for an extra dollar. My favorite protein options are carne asada and Al pastor which are both flavorful and juicy. My boyfriend tried their suadero and said it was nice and tender with fatty pieces, but lacked some flavor. We only got some tacos this visit since this was a post-dinner snack, but if you're hungry, their loaded potato is delicious and they truly load them up. They also have a sauce bar on the side with different salsas, onion/cilantro, and pickled onions. If you order a burrito, they hand you your burrito open faced to let you add those condiments on top before they roll it up for you. Amazing food, I cannot recommend this place enough. read more

This is the taco stand located across the street of the walgreens parking lot. I normally order the burrito and it is massive! I add cheese for an extra fee but it not that much. I get the half and half of the asada and pastor and it is delicious, they really pack in a lot of protein! I def want to try their tacos but I am telling you with the size of the burrito, you will have enough for 2 -3 meals, so you cant go wrong! They will hand you the open burrito and you will have the chance to add whatever you want (sauce, guac, onions, cilantro, etc) and then you give it back for them to wrap it up for you. I recommend just putting the sauces on the side so your burrito isn't wet and eventually falls apart. There is plenty parking in the parking lot behind the stand but beware of the many potholes especially when you go at night as the street lights are very dim. Such a solid Taco stand. So good I live nearby, because for $2/taco this is the best deal ever. Especially because they pack on the meat. I get the pastor probably every time, and it never disappoints. The service is kind, and it's easy to order. You just go up and say your order. They take cash or zelle only; thank goodness because I did not have cash on me. There is no seating but it's mostly a quick grab and go place, or you can sit in your car in the parking lot behind it. Quite the vibe sometimes. The horchata can be hit or miss, but it's usually a hit. Tried the tacos and burrito from here. The flavors I like are there but somehow overshadowed by how greasy they are. I think I got used to eating in places where the meat isn't swimming in oil when they get scooped up and dropped into the burrito or the tacos. By the time I get to eat the burrito, the flour tortilla is already soaked and feels like wet tissue sticking to the foil it was wrapped in. I think you really have to eat everything as soon as they are served on the spot. I will give this place another try and ask if they have chopped up meat not swimming in oil. This place is literally the only street taco I eat in LA. Located on the corner of 6th and Vermont, this is the sister taco stand of Angel's Tijuanas Tacos and Don Chilaquiles. You order from the lady next to the onions and limes--they do cash and Zelle. They don't take Venmo anymore. You order, they give you a number, and you move onto the left where they'll call your number. The food is quick and generous. Sometimes I find myself trying to strategize how I'm going to pick up the tortilla from underneath all the meat they heaped on for the taco. The pastor is cut off the trompa and topped with a piece of pineapple. The burritos are handed to you open so you can take it to the right side to put all your salsas and onion in it. They don't have condiment cups--they only have bags for the salsa and the other condiments. Not gonna lie I keep small mini tupperware in my car so I don't have to deal with the bags. The food is pretty cheap! They recently upped their prices though but still very affordable for Los Angeles. The service is super quick--just make sure you're also listening out for your number in Spanish. They'll whip up all your food and it'll be ready a lot of the time before you can get all your salsas in order. read more

For the price and convenience quality in the great tho I only get the Al pastor because everything other meat is prepare with some form of plastic. Meat heated up in plastic. Good stuff! I love the meats here. The taste is good. The location is the best, super close to my in laws. I'm glad they moved to Los Angeles Mid-City. There is a public parking lot right behind them. The prices did go up from the last time I went to a El Venado within two years it had gone up $2. For the burritos. $.50 for the tacos. Yes pricey but it's big and meaty. I got here at 430pm. Which you shouldn't come at that time. They were not ready til 5-5:15pm. I do this to myself with these location and the one in Sepulveda location I come early and they are open but not ready. But anyways this location is new. Food is great they even have the fryer there. So they pretty much make the meat place it in the tortilla and you put your own stuff inside (sauce, onions and cilantro..) and they close it close it for you. Love it!! You have control of the heat intake and condiments. I ordered carne asada burritos & al pastor, tripas and carnitas. All meat to me is yummie. I would try all the meats If I were you. Employees do wear mask and clothes. The one that cook and prep. The cashier does not. They do not have hand sanitizer when I was there. Not much social distancing with customers so you will have to do that on your own. They don't have a sign that say "must wear mask" so not sure if they require you to. Just wanted a late night street taco in ktown and accidentally found the best tacos in the area. Owned by the same people who own Angel's Tijuana Tacos, so I'm not surprised it's good. Simple and Sweet This place feels like a hidden gem that is in plain sight! I've passed it countless times and never tried it. That all changed after a friend and I went to a concert and were craving tacos after. We had actually gone to another taco spot before passing here and decided to try it as well. I have to give myself a pat on the back for making that wonderful decision. Here I discovered the best cabeza tacos I've had. The meat had all the textures. It was soft yet slightly crunchy from the flat top. The flavor is deep and fatty. It's sooo good. The al pastor is also very good but personally still preferred the cabeza. The parking is in the walgreens so there's enough parking. Prices are pretty normal compared to other taco places in LA. They had ran out of couple items when we went since it was late night but I'll definitely be back to try everything else! The owners are nice and generous with portions. This may very well become my new go to taco spot when I'm in LA. read more
