This place has good food, great place for parties, family, business meetings. People are pleasant n very warm atmosphere. I only had to complaints 1. Menudo didn't have enough salt, bland. But once you put your chile, onion, cilantro lemon n salt was perfect. 2. Way to small portions, for the price. If they put more food for their prices it would be 8 star restaurant. read more

Service was good food was pretty trash..the chips were really stale don't like the whole Tex mex thing water tasted like wet dog or something I have dogs so I can just imagine what that would taste like and the food was mediocre shrimp tastes like nasty tap water as well. Stumbled upon this gem the other week and I think I've found a new place to add to my favorite restaurants in Amarillo! I spotted this place while driving to a friend's home. I noticed there were a lot of cars and it looked busy early into the evening. I made a mental note and when we decided to have dinner, I suggested we stop at Tacos Garcia. The place was packed, as it is every weekend I'm told. We were told the wait for a table for 5 would be about 25 minutes. We ended up waiting for about 35 minutes. When we were finally seated, we wasted no time ordering our food because we were starving. I ordered the Tampiqueno Steak ($17), a 10oz. ribeye topped with green chile that's been grilled. It was perfect. Perfectly cooked to medium rare, as I asked, and the grilled pepper was smokey and delicious. I asked for french fries instead of rice and beans, but when it came out, the kitchen either forgot or overlooked it. One request to the waitress and she brought me a plate of fries. Nice. the food was embarrassingly bad and the prices were outrageous for the quality. queso was store bought and microwaved along with what I assume was meat somehow being over cooked while cheese was underdone both over salted along with leaving me to pick off chips burnt to a crisp, the owner should be embarrassed to have that come out of their restaurant and the charge for the quality was ridiculous, I've had better food at a hotel breakfast. the only thing this restaurant did right was hire a sweet server, invest in a cooktop because reheated and microwaved garbage is all that kitchen was capable of. Roasted tomatoes were good in the salsa!!!! Chanklas....great appetizer!!! (Roasted veg wrapped in meat and bacon! pick your poison shrimp, chicken or fajita beef! Mojo de Ajo and calabacitas superb! Jumped off the Interstate looking for a mid afternoon late lunch. We were seated right away, being as it was 2:30ish the place wasn't crowded. Our server immediately came to the table bringing chips that were fresh and crunchy with a tray of 3 different salsa's. The food was delivered promptly, piping hot and very good. Everything was fresh and I love that. I ordered a taco salad minus the meat. So many times when you order a taco salad with hot beans, the lettuce is warm and not crunchy, not so with Jorge's. The salad was pretty to look at and great to eat. The enchilada's were great. Mr. B ordered a shrimp enchilada and a guacamole enchilada. Haven't seen a guacamole enchilada on a menu and I live in California where Mexican food is a staple. So of course I had to sneak a bite and it was GREAT!! Salsas win me over on a mexican restaurant and this place gives you 3 to choose from. Each was delicious. The decor is the somewhat overused faux-mexico adobe with bright colors, but that's forgivable because the food is good and the salsas are great. I don't think my water even got close to running out; that is to say, service was good. I've only been once when driving through Amarillo, but it was great. read more

The staff was very friendly when I checked into the restaurant. The chips and salsa was excellent with three choices of salsa one very mild and then a hot green and even hotter red for most people these would be very hot but when your from El Paso they are not that hot but tasted very good . The tortilla soup was different in that you had to pour the soup in all in all good but not great need more cheese and the beef fajitas were good but the rice and beans had no taste . The music in the background was a little to loud but played good songs that made you want to dance around the table . read more

Had bad experience at Tacos Garcia this evening, I wont recommend this place for there unprofessionall attitude when they had us wait for table when the restaurant was empty on a Saturday evening because of a shift change which I never heard of making your customers wait when they are table available! Fine so we sat at the bar for 30 or more minutes we finally had to ask a bar waitress to ask about our table, and came back to say she didn't know why we were waiting but brought us a bill for our drinks and restaurant is virtually empty, she finally seated us and took our appetizer order and then came back with the queso fundido app. And lit it with alcohol and flame it when blew out the cheese was totally burned on the bottom so we had a bus boy find our waitress and I guess could find her so he came and took it back to the kitchen and made us a new one . When it came out it look lots better but the person that brought it out didn't light on fire with the alcohol so the presentation wasn't the same !! We told her what happened with the flames and she flamed up !! And said we complain about it being burt the the first time she blew the flames out her self before serving our table point is we got served burnt food chef admited it we got treated like shit read more

Pretty darn good Barbacoa that was tender and not too greasy. I really enjoyed the tortilla soup! They give you a choice of grilled fajita chicken or shredded chicken and put all the fixings in a bowl and let you pour the broth on top. A fun twist on a classic. So freaking good! Came into town and our hotel receptionist recommended this place. My 12 yo had the barbacoa plate and demolished it. The chicken enchiladas with sour cream sauce was amazing too. The queso fundido was phenomenal. It deserves 5 stars. The service was excellent as well. Marco was our server and super attentive. The rest of the meal was uneventful. We ordered the surf and turf fajitas - the steak and shrimp were average. We also ordered the chile relleno/chicken flouta/tostada plate and it was too plain to eat. The chile was just pan fried and covered in cheese, and stuffed with ground beef. The flouta was soggy and tasted like tomato sauce. The tostada thing was soggy as well, but did have avocado on it. Shame to have had to pay for that. I would return for the queso alone. read more

Nice, clean, good lighting, and great service from Brittany!Great Tex-Mex restaurant in Amarillo. I'll start off by saying I'm super picky and have struggled to find good, clean places to eat in Amarillo with good friendly service. We were a party of 11, and Brittany took care of us all by herself with ease and grace. We never waited for a drink refill, she had lots of patience with our ordering and everything came out just like we requested from the kitchen. We all enjoyed our dishes!! Everyone left happy and full with to go boxes in tow. For management - the women's bathroom needs one of the stalls locks put on, but was clean...The men's bathroom needs more attending in cleanliness however. read more

I arrived here for dinner on a Thursday evening with a friend. We were seated immediately, and our waiter promptly took our drink order. The service was great! We didn't even get half way through our drinks before the refills came & we chatted with our waiter like we were old friends. He was entertaining & friendly. The food was so good! Our chips came with three different varieties of salsa that were all delicious. The guacamole is amazing! I'd highly recommend it. The tamales were very flavorful, topped with a spicy red sauce and melted cheese. Our waiter did warn us that they had very long wait times on the weekends, but luckily we didn't run into that problem. You must try this place if you're in town! read more

Ughhhh why! I stopped here on my way from TX to CO. Was hoping for great Mexican food before leaving the state. So disappointed. My chicken tacos were made with a fried tortilla that was greasy and the "shredded chicken" had cartilage in multiple bites. The rice had clearly been cooked ho a before and the beans were flavorless. Save yourself and skip this place. read more

The restaurant has plenty of seating and the service was great! The staff made sure we were taken care of everyone was very nice and polite. My husband ordered the asado plate and I had the ground beef tacos. We both kept saying how good and fresh our meals were and then split a yummy tres leches cake for dessert! On our cross country road trip, we didn't get to eat as much local food as I would have liked, but we did get to eat here (close to our hotel) and were both very happy we did. It was so good! The waitress was super nice, the restaurant itself is very cool, its big and clean, and is decorated nicely. I felt happy in there , for lack of a better way to explain it. Bright colors and all of that. The food was excellent, some of the better tacos I've had. The chicken on its own was cooked right, flavored well. I enjoyed them. The carne asada fries were good, I live in southern CA, so they were not as good as ones I ve had before, but they were good. The meat was cooked well. The salsa and chips were great too. I wish we could have stayed and had a drink, they margaritas looked worth it. I would recommend this place, and def. come back if I was in the area. read more

We had the option to sit outside so we did. 3 kids and two adults the service was average but the food was amazing definitely worth the wait. This is probably on of my favorite restaurants, I love the diverse menu. I usually get the green chili chicken sandwich which was juicy and over all delicious. The wife had a chicken fajita chimichanga huge portions for sure. My oldest daughter had cheese enchiladas with sour cream sauce. She loves how cheesy they are and noticed that the rice and beans are on point. We have never had a bad experience here and have dined over 50 times in the last ten years. read more

Excellent service. By far the best Mexican restaurant I've been to in years! Decent Margaritas- unfortunately from a mix. They bring three different kinds of salsa to your table with your chips. We sat outside with our dogs and they brought them water. We love dog friendly restaurants since we are full time RVers. Patty, our waitress, was amazing! read more

If you are looking for Mexican food, this place is it. This is not tex-mex, or new mexican, or gormet mexican of any kind - just mexican food. The schooners of beer with a salted rim - nice! I am married to a mexican women and I have had much menudo, and leunga, but here they are the best I have had, especially the menudo. Consistant, and delicious everytime. I have taken a lot of my mexican family and friends that only eat from their mama's kitchen, and they said the menudo was better than their mom's. Need I say more. read more
