    Steak Burrito Lunch

The owners are very friendly. This taco cart is in our rotation of favorite taco places. It is one of the best in the state and in my opinion the best in downtown Salt Lake City. The asada is tender and seasoned very well. They also have avocado which I've noticed most places do not have in the accompanying toppings. The Salsas are excellent however the red one is VERY spicy so proceed with caution on how much you add to it. This taco cart is located by gateway. Parking to get to it can be frustrating sometimes but worth it! They are generous with the meat in their dishes as well. A great meal for a great price!

Woooow! This place is great. I was just walking around when I stumbled upon this tiny little taco truck. There were several men mowing down tacos in front of it so I decided to stop. I wasn't very hungry and thought I'd just get something small but I saw they offered four tacos for $8 so I decided to try them. I ordered steak, chicken, spicy pork and shredded beef. They also have a cooler full of salsas, pickled vegetables, cabbage with grilled onions and jalapeños on the side. All of the meats were good with generous portions. Shredded beef is usually my favorite and this one had good texture and flavor. The spicy pork is definitely spicy so stay away if you're not into spicy foods. I'd say the chicken was a little bland and slightly dry but with all of the toppings it still tasted great. I ate all four tacos and am beyond full, two would have been just right. They are not the best tacos I've ever had but they're fantastic for the price. Definitely give this place a try. Ill be returning to try the breakfast burrito next time. I almost didn't post this picture because the lighting in my hotel room was awful but you can see you get a mountain of food.

Excellent street taco stand beside the Union Pacific train station. Only open during breakfast and lunch. Five flavors of meat are put into your desired wrapper: taco, burrito, torta. Can't say enough about the authentic flavors and ingredients. Al pastor and spicy pork tacos are fabulous. You add your own toppings just like you would at home. Great Prices! By keeping their overhead down, prices are very reasonable.

This is another great Mexican food stand on the streets of SLC. The format isn't much different than the rest of 'em. Set up a stand with a few kinds of meat, offer some tacos or a burrito, get your fixins from a cooler on the side of the cart, and dive in. Where Hidalgo shines is the meat. Pollo, carne asada, adobada. All extremely well done and tender. Sometimes you worry about them drying out a little, but that was not the case, at least today. Perfectly moist, and downright gooey if you got it in smothered burrito form. I chose a tasty sampler of three tacos and really enjoyed each one. The spicy chicken was indeed spicy, but my wussy mouth survived just fine and I'd do it again. The asada was my favorite. Topped with green salsa, hot salsa, a little cabbage and some pico de gallo I couldn't stop winning. Tacos will set you back $1.25, the burrito $4.50 so it's a bargain. They know what they do well and they stick with it, which means you get great food, but may start craving a wider selection if you eat there every day. Get your nom nom on with their tasty Mex, pop over to Gateway and walk the shops, and you'll be hungry for more on the way back to your car. Hidalgo!

Who doesn't love tacos? Today I had their steak tacos. 4 for $5 which I think is a a very good deal. The tortillas are a bit too small and need to be cooked a little longer. Steak could be cut up just a bit more but they do provide a lot on your taco. The meat is lightly seasoned, could use a little more sauce but it still has flavor. I only tried their red hot sauce and I liked it. It has the spice but not the super unbearable ones that you usually find everywhere. There were three different sauces I believe and a variety of toppings. Cabbage, pico, cilantro, lime, carrots and jalapeños. All in all the sauce is what brought everything together and I would definitely return and have more tacos or try something new.

Found in the heart of downtown, right in front of the Depot, is Tacos Hidalgo. This isn't the first time I've been, nor the last, but I wanted to share some of the food we enjoyed. I had the steak quesadilla w/ sour cream, avocado sauce, cabbage, and pico. I also had a side rice and beans. The quesadilla itself was gigantic and amazing (which is always how it's made). They didn't skimp on anything. My only complaint would be that the beans were somewhat dry, but it happens. My love had the Al Pastor torta which they prepare with actual pineapple. She loved it. We were both very full and very satisfied with what we got and will definitely be back again soon to support. As should you.

The best taco stand near the Gateway. Tacos are $1.25 each with a few different choices, always fresh, and the people who run it are soo friendly. I went to Order the Adobada tacos and the guy warned me they were SPICY, I ordered one anyways, WOWZA it was spicy, if you cant handle spice do not get the Adobada meat. Alpastor tacos are my favorite you cant go wrong with this seasoned pork with pineapple. Id bring cash when coming here they dont always have there card machine.

Bomb tacos for a late night taco splurge before or after the drinks come. Fresh toppings, fresh service, but don't expect your date to smell some fresh breathe. After all, you just had some bomb Tacos Hidalgo. But it's okay, your date will splurge on some tacos too. You guys can splurge on some tacos together! Tacos are for splurging. How many tacos can you splurge at Hidalgo's? I splurged on 10 tacos in 30 minutes! That's a taco splurging beast! Go splurge on some tacos now. Beam me up taco, I'm splurging. Taco, I am your splurging father. Splurge, splurge, splurge your taco, gently down the street.

These tacos are legit. The spicy pork is no joke. I work close by and I'd be totally fine with eating there multiple times a week.

It brought back memories of working in the orchards with Hispanic friends in Idaho the second I bit into that amazing juicy taco. Load it up with their free vegetables and if you like hot red sauce, theirs is the absolute best I've had around. I still can't find a better street taco, although I've had some other good ones, this place still has me hooked for life.

If someone knows where I can find a Sonoran dog let me know! Along with staples such as carne asada, pollo (aka chicken), al pastor and carnitas they offer traditional favorites of tripe, lengua, nopales (cactus) and chicharrones. They have tortas, burritos, tacos, quesadillas and tostadas. Burritos will run you $5-$5.50 and tacos will run you $1.50. All burritos come with whole pinto beans, rice and cheese, then you get to fill it up with your choice of salsas and accouterments like cabbage, fresh diced onion and cilantro, grilled onion and jalapeno and my personal favorite guacamole/avacado salsa (a delicious blend of what I think is tomatillo salsa, avacado and crema). Had your plate back to the cook and they'll wrap it up tight. Along with the best street meat in Utah, they have a variety of beverages like guava nectar, mango nectar, Mexican coke (glass bottle with real sugar not corn syrup) and jarritos. I typically frequent this place about 1-2 times every couple weeks because you can't feed two people for under $15 anywhere else. The employees are always friendly and they all understand English, most of them speak it well enough to have a short conversation and its a great place for me to practice my terrible Spanish and get a laugh or two when I say something wrong.
