Taco Arribe! Wow, the El Pastor filled warm flour tortilla with sauteed onions, pineapple and loads of cilantro and onion was incredible (aka Taco Arribe)! I got the crispy Chile rellenos. They were drowning in cheese sauce and the rellenos themselves were mostly breading with very little Chile inside. My dad took my family and me here after a long father's day/(his) birthday weekend. We saw a late movie and were all hungry, and what else is really open at 10 pm on a Sunday night.... Tacos Junior. I have never been here, but my mom and brother love it. I got an order of tacos, which costs $6.50 and comes with four tacos of your choice. The tacos are small, street style tacos, which i prefer over hard shell tacos. I went with two carnitas and two barbacoa, both were delicious! My mom got carnitas and lengua, which she thoroughly enjoyed. The carnitas melted in my mouth, and the green salsa that I poured atop my yummy tacos was a great accompaniment. Although I don't live near Tacos Junior, I would definitely go back for a late night snack again, and I would love to try the other food on the menu. read more

The empanadas with chorizo were delicious! They were perfectly fried and filled me up well. They have many different kinds of bottled and canned drinks (Mexican and American), but no fountain drinks. The cashier was nice and the food was brought to my table with green and red salsa cups (that were pretty good), napkins, salt packets and a fork. Heard this was the best Mexican food in Denver. Decided to stop by and find out for myself since I love Mexican food. Lady at the register took my order was very sweet and nice. Food was lees than mediocre. I ordered the smothered burrito and chile rellenos. Only thing hot on the plate was the sauces. Steak in burrito was cold and did not even taste like carne asada as well as being just a slither of meat instead of what I've seen carne asada be at most other restaurants. The chile rellenos were cold on the inside with hot green chile on the out. I would not recommend this place at all. Most everything tastes very old like it was a week old and cold. Amazing Tacos! We have been here many times and never disappointed. Tonight was no exception. Delicious tacos as always! Chicken nuggets to satisfy my picky eater and my son wanted the whole fried tilapia! The presentation was amazing and the fish was delicious and perfectly cooked! We are hooked! Tacos Junior is the real deal. I was apprehensive about it being located in a sketch part of Lake "hood" on Sheridan. There's even what looks like an authentic bullet hole in the window (see photo) probably either from a drive-by (sorry but they do not have drive-thru) or a random gang shooting so watch yourself! The inside is shockingly CLEAN, the employees are friendly to us "gringos" and the food is nothing short of OUTSTANDING! Everything is made fresh with real soft corn tortillas and the tacos taste like authentic street tacos but better than any you've had off of a truck. I particularly like the chicken and steak tacos. I'll have to try the empanadas at some point. Seriously, no matter what you order here you won't be disappointed with. Even their deserts are made fresh. This is pretty much a standard stop in my neck o' the woods. Yeah, I know--there are a busload of places to get tacos in this town and everybody has an opinion. This is mine: If authenticity is what you're after, then do yourself a favor and pull into their lot. The Al Pastor and Carnitas tacos will make your mouth water, and the vegetarian options are good here as well (I really enjoyed their tostadas). If you're looking for upscale re-interpretations of classic Mexican cuisine, forget it. Looking for a modern decor? Not gonna get it. This place looks like a vintage TG&Y went ghetto tropical fabulous, complete with a bizarre interior awning over the kitchen. So what?! While I admit that I am charmed by these aspects, they are not what makes Tacos Junior a hit. The food is bomb. Some folks may argue that the place is overpriced, but I disagree. This is reasonably priced and excellent food. Period. Can't wait to go back and try all the other menu items I have missed on previous visits! read more

Had a craving for mex food and especially mole, so we chose Tacos Junior, based on reviews here. The Mole sauce is excellent, unfortunately, it only comes served on a chicken Enchilada--I was hoping for more traditional mole, (Shredded chicken in Mole sauce, served over rice). Counter man was very helpful (and yes they don't speak much English). They let us sample some of the mole sauce and the pastor prior to ordering, which is something not all places like this will do. Instead I took monoliths advice and had the tacos (2 Pastor, 2 Carne Asada) Meat was flavorful, well portioned and it filled me up satisfactorily. My gf had Flautas- which she said were good, but not too flavorful, they come w/ fresh avocado slices on top and those WERE fresh and good On the ambiance, she says it was 'Big, Colorful, and Clean. " Bottom line, we wouldn't make it as a regular stop, but it beats a lot of other similar places we've been too. and would go again Friendliness and cleanliness helped give it a 4. read more

I cant speak to its authenticity but I can say I have been to Mexico on many occasions usually stopping into the little shops not in the tourist traps and it is spot on. So far I have liked everything I have tried but the chicken quesadilla and the El Pastor tacos are by far my favorites. Don't get me wrong, the food is good! However I called for a take-out order, but their phone does not work. With the high prices they charge for the food you will think they have enough to pay for phone service!!!! Then I called that order to the Federal location, it took me 20 minutes to get there and when I got there the lady told me that my order was not ready! There are numerous Mexican restaurants but those that are truly exceptional are defined by the quality of food and the courteous interaction between restaurant staff and customers, both (food & customer service) are sorely & severely lacking at Tacos Junior. After two separate attempts to give Tacos Junior a dignified chance, I've decided to NEVER visit this "place" again, considering there are far better Mexican restaurants. But to give two reasons for my decision, first, with a menu with no prices provided seemed a little suspicious, maybe order taker can charge whatever price. Which may have been the case when we ordered two tortas and two burritos & charged about $30(?!). Upon seeing the tortas, they were quite smaller than other tortas & didn't come with any other additions--radishes, limes, etc., as other restaurants provide. Next, as we, my husband & I, waited for our order, we were standing off to the side, the order taker and two other staff members were talking in Spanish about us as if we didn't understand. I found this disrespectful considering we could hear clearly what was being said. My husband than told them in Spanish, "What are you saying? I can understand what you're saying and I'm just standing here waiting for my order, is there anything wrong with that." So, trying to give this establishment a chance it's just a sad, pitiful "place" & not worth any thought, let alone effort considering there are so many other Mexican restaurants to choose from. To those who will try this "place" best of luck dining & try not to get food poisoning, if not by the food then most certainly by the unprofessional staff representing Tacos Junior. read more
