Excellent tacos. Tried a few different kinds and my fave is the street tacos because I can eat more variety. I liked the asada the most. The fish taco is also very good. I got all soft tacos, and the S.O. got hard tacos and said they were very good. Of the meats, I had (by order of preference) asada, fish, carnitas, pastor, birria, and chicken. I ordered for take out and it was very quick. They have different promos during the week like HH and Taco Tuesdays. Would like to come back and try the hard tacos and horchata. read more

The tortillas, made onsite, are sooo good and smokiness of the grilled nopales made for super good tacos. We went here for taco Tuesday. The parking lot is on the smaller side, but I didn't have an issue finding a spot. I imagine most are in and out. The inside is a decent size, clean with some cool wall artThe deal isn't too bad (check out the photo). Note it's important to distinguish that you want the street tacos from the taco Tuesday deal bc they have regular tacos as well that aren't on special minus the fish taco. We got the fish tacos (regular size). We also got the street tacos. All tacos were packed. The al pastor and fish tacos were our favorites. The least favorite was the carne asada. I must have been using under a rock because the last month I've been birria crazy and Costa Mesa, Anaheim, Westminister area cannot miss. Tacos Madre didn't disappoint though without my GPS and Yelp combo I'd never have seen it. Parking lot is small but the restroom was clean. The ambiance was great. Beautiful wall murals and nice pops of color. The self serve salsa bar had an array of options as they didn't take any short cuts. The cashier was welcoming and allowed me to take m my time as my stomach and my brain were trying to make a decision on what I should order. The menu and specials were all easy to read and drawing you in was the sizzling and aroma coming from the kitchen. But how did it taste? Quesabirria - so the truth is that it just looked like a fun thing to order. Easily an item for 3 people as I quickly had the itis noticing my eyes were bigger than my stomach. Not only was it delicious, but it held up well being dipped in the consommé and it had all the onions and cilantro in every bite. Birria Taco - I definitely prefer a hard flour shell but I don't remember any photos to make me request a corn tortilla. Equally delicious, huge portion. Carnitas Taco - the lime, pico combo gave me the freshness I was looking for but the birria flavors kind of overpowered the opportunity for me to really enjoy it. Definitely not my favorite carnitas taco. Sangria - definitely didn't give me Spain. Definitely aqua de jamaica mix. Cold, refreshing, just couldn't identify the flavors. Felt gimmicky. Horchata - not my favorite. I'm usually looking for ice cold with strong punch of cinnamon in the rice milk mixture. This one was kind of watered down, missed the cinnamon punch and just wasn't as cold as I prefer. With all that said, I'm definitely adding Tacos Madre to my rotation of local eateries. Good place! Came here to eat on new year day as most places closed or closed early. We (11 os us) had gone to that new Northgate at around 5pm but they were out of food. In our way back we saw Tacos Madre open, so decided to stop by. Some had the tortas, I had the birria pizza with my wife, and my parents had tacos. I read previous reviews complaining about the loud music but their sound level was perfect and I sat by the speaker which was set at a medium/low level. A friend and I order the fish, al pastor, and chicken taco. I liked how flavorful the Al pastor meat was. You can taste the sweetness of the pineapple and the meat was not dried out. Their fish taco was good, not the best I had but I could see why it was on everyone's table when I left. They serve a good portion of fish for the taco and it's smothered in their sauce, I just wish they had more filling on top. Their salsas pack some heat and flavor that the little one oz portions are just enough to flavor your taco. $2 street tacos and $4 fish tacos is a price that can't be beat. If the service were better, I'd give this place five stars. When we got there, my son went to the restroom. No paper towels. When ordering, I reported to the server that there were no paper towels. A meal and 45 minutes later, still no paper towels. When the food was delivered to our table, the same server tried to give us a shrimp burrito. We told him we didn't order one, but he insisted until we showed him our receipt. Then we saw him give the shrimp burrito to another table. WTH I gave this place four stars because the enchiladas were awesome. My son had the shrimp enchiladas, 8/10. I had the chicken enchiladas, 9/10. The green sauce had fire, a good fire. My wife had the carne asada fries, 7/10. Parking is tricky. There are about six spots up front, maybe four spots in the back.
