If you craving for burrito or chimichangas this a great place to go to. They also have a great soft taco and caldo de res rojo. Don't forget to ask for salsa.

I was hoping for some good Mexican food here, I got mediocre at best. The chicken enchiladas were okay, the rice was reheated for-sure. (Kept balling up) beans were good. Nothing special but nothing horrible which is a plus! I'd rather have average food than horrible food... meh. Biggest complaint: place isn't well kept. Black corners everywhere. This place could use a good deep cleaning

Stopped by this place on my way home craving some Mexican Food. Tried the carne asada fries and I have to say they were the right choice. Great flavor on the carne asada. The order size is good and i just wish there was more since they were great tasting. Courteous and fast service. I look forward to stopping by again to try more from their menu.

McNasty Burrito but in the opposite sense

Had the Wet Burrito (asada). Worst Burrito Ever! Meat had an overcook taste. As if it was just sitting there, waiting for its next victim. Never going back..... salsa and chips were good though. So was the coke

So I was excited to find another taco joint while I was driving around and lo and behold it was this one... Taco Time... seriously these guys must be about the tacos I am thinking. Great they have menus outside so I grab one. Almost everything is a combo... then I find the taco's out of a combo... $1.25 ea... So I got the usual, 1 asada, 1 al pastor, and 1 pollo. So the pastor didn't have the pineapple tang or onions but had a nice flavor to it. The chicken was good. The asada was bleh to say the least. The red sauce was a bit creamier than I have had in a while but it was also a bit spicy. I liked that a bunch. And it really improved the asada. I put a bit on the pastor and chicken as well just to see how the flavors comingled. The pastor and chicken was tasty with the red sauce as well... and it helped to get a lil bit more spice in them as well. For another $2 you can get a combo plate with a serving of rice and beans. If you get all asada they will does in a free sm fountain drink. Pro Tip: They deliver with a $15.00 min order and a $1.50 delivery charge. They also serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Overall this place seemed pretty average at best...

Green Burrito (mojado) - chicken- Always great! Work down the street. Come in for fast and great lunch. Keep the chips and salsa coming!

Came here because a friend said they had good menudo, boyfriend said yes it was but I had a shredded beef taco and beans, taco shell was a boxed shell and beef was bland had to go asked for lettuce and tomatoes for my taco and was told the tomatoes were not cut upwhat? Told him was my first time here and not looking good! 5 min later I got my tomatoes in the middle of my dinner boyfriend will come for menudo but not me! Not authentic Mexican food as they claim!!

Rice was a little hard. This is the taco special.

Simple Mom & Pop place. I've had their carne asada burritos with a habanero sauce. Delicious. They're always friendly and attentive.

Expect 15 + min. wait time for your food even if it's a simple order. If you try to call in the order they won't pick up. Food is just OK.

Start cleaning out underneath your table pushing you out as fast as they can. The bar just closes down not even announcing a last call. And what is with those awful margaritas. I can't believe that a Michelin feathered Mexican restaurant can serve such awful margaritas. And I am not alone as I mentioned it to another Restaurant crowd and they agreed and said they were probably the worst margaritas in Orange. I don't know whether it's the mix or the amount of alcohol or what it is but they come out watery and really sour. A totally good dining experience has to encompass everything, food is only 50% of the deal the other 50% is service with a smile, and this one lacks it. Now there could be a reason for this epic shutdown at 9 PM. But I wonder what it is? Santa Monica seafood in Santa Monica on Wilshire Boulevard has to have last orders in by 8:30 because if they are not closed out by 10 o'clock entirely, the neighbors complain that they are putting out trash and making a noise after 10 so that I understand. But it took me a year to find that out from the owners. Restaurant owners are so stuck up and anal, I know I was one. Gabbi, whom I have never seen, should spend a night or two watching her Restaurant closing up.

The beans did not taste watered down, and the enchiladas themselves were flavorful. I always worry about shrimp overpowering the sides of a dish but it tasted great. The rice was also really filling. We had a reservation and they seated us at a pretty big table, which I liked. The servers were very timely, kind, and knowledgeable about each dish on the menu and the rotating specials. The inside of the restaurant was HUGE. I'm pretty sure it was built inside of a church. I really liked the stained glass and elevated seating areas nearby, it reminded me of the Old Spaghetti Factory layout in Fullerton. Overall, I had a very positive experience. I had to get a Diet Coke and of course, it was crisp to my expectations. A little heads-up, unlike the Costa Mesa location, they do not have horchata. Nevertheless, I'd come here again to try their burritos, tostadas, and salads!

But once again one has this perfunctory service, that is service that is merely to get through a night and not to enhance a dining experience. So many restaurants now seem to have the same problem, that is servers who just want to get through the evening and get it over with. The service industry has really taken a dive since my day. I don't get it. Don't they get paid more than they used to just a year or two ago. Anyway, I do enjoy the Camerones. But, the dreadful flan that I was served. This is such a basic desert and very easy to make, but one can overcook the egg proteins easily and the whole thing is grainy, scrambled and not pleasant to eat. Basically it should be cooked in a Bain Marie. Probably a lost art. Avila's has several locations and one may differ from another. The one I ate at is in Orange.

The carnitas themselves are the star--tender, juicy pork that's been slow-cooked to perfection with that signature crispy edge on some pieces, delivering rich, savory flavor without being overly greasy. It's seasoned just right, with a nice balance of porky goodness and subtle spices that let the meat shine. Wrapped in a large, fresh flour tortilla (they make their own in-house, which always helps), it's stuffed generously with the classics: fluffy Mexican rice, creamy refried or whole beans (depending on your preference, but both work great), chopped onions, cilantro, and a solid dose of salsa. I went with their green salsa for a bright, tangy kick that cuts through the richness perfectly, plus a dollop of sour cream and cheese for that creamy melt. No skimping on portions here--it's hearty and filling, easily a meal that satisfies for hours. At around $10 (give or take, based on current pricing), it's a great value in the area. The burrito holds together well without falling apart mid-bite, and the overall balance of textures--tender meat, soft rice/beans, crisp onions--makes every mouthful enjoyable. If you're in the mood for classic carnitas done right in a casual, bakery-taqueria spot with great salsas and a friendly vibe, this one's definitely worth grabbing. I'd rate it 4.5 out of 5--only docking half a point because it's not reinventing the wheel, but it's executing the traditional style exceptionally well.
