This is an excellent location of El Taco Tote. Clean, spacious, and quick service so you can chow down on your delicious tacos ASAP. The menu has meat platters (to share), various tacos, and sides, for the most part. My fiance eats nothing but fajita tacos and/or fajita quesadillas. I prefer the pork and chicken adobado, barbacoa, and the taco pirata (beans, cheese, and fajita meat). You can make any taco a quesadilla for an additional charge. Their beans and rice are surprisingly good, too. The real star here, though, is the salsa bar- from the mild guacamole sauce ("everyone's favorite") to the smoky red sauce that is so subtly spicy you'll need to down several glasses of water if you don't respect it's power, everything is amazing. They also have chiles toreados, raw onion, cucumber, quartered limes, lettuce, and cilantro for your taco accessorizing pleasure. Great place to come for some authentic and cheap Mexican food. This business started in Mexico and now has franchises North of the border. Their slogan is "We don't build a better taco- you do!" and with their awesome salsa bar, it's totally true. Their tacos and burritos are bare bones- meat, cheese, beans, but then you really make it tasty with their wide variety of salsas, fresh veggies, chips, and limes at the salsa bar. Free chips come with every purchase. They do a great job with customer service and keeping the whole restaurant clean. It's super easy to eat here on a budget and as a vegetarian, I love coming here and getting a great balanced meal with lots of protein, dairy and veggies. El Taco Tote was an accidental find when I was working in El Paso, but became a very regular spot. The food is fantastic, and very cheap. They have a chips & salsa bar which is free, and at least 6 different kinds of salsa. None of them are truly hot, but they are very delicious. As far as a chain taco restaurant, El Taco Tote is fantastic. If compared to many whole in the wall taco stands in Juarez...well again, it's a chain. Does it have ambience-none. Is it sqeaky clean? No, not really. But the tacos here are very good and very convenient. I try to stop by when I'm in El Paso and looking for a quick lunch. I was visiting El Paso and came across this place. I'm so glad I did because the food was exceptionally good and the salsas were spot on. The sirloin meet on the tacos was tender and flavorful. The options at the salsa bar ranged from mild to FIRE HOT and had a good taste. The service was very friendly and the place was clean. I'll be back for sure. I placed a catering order, in store, with enough notice prior to my event. I arrived at the store at my pre-designated pick up time and my order had not been started yet - I had to wait while the staff put together the catering order for 15 people. I am extremely disappointed with the lack of promptness, we were on a strict timeline and this delay delayed food for our guests. I would hesitate using Tacotote again for events. I will say the food was great and everyone enjoyed it. We kept it heated in our own chafing dishes and sterno fuel. Our order contained 5 lbs of meat, 30 tortillas, rice, chips and a selection of 8 salsas as well as plastic flatware, plates and napkins. read more

I went to this place for the first time with my friend who I haven't seen in a while, we were expecting a full service restaurant, but it's not. Taco Tote is like the richer, fancier Taco Bell. Very similar to Taco Cabana, but the taste at Taco Tote is much better! The steak is delicious, the tortillas as well. The menu's could be a little more easy to understand, they seem to be on a monitor that has too refresh every so often, very colorful, but it took me forever to figure out what I wanted. They also have the computerized 100 option soda machines, which I find a bit ridiculous, but it's fun for some. If you're planning on coming here with your elders, I would probably skip this place for two reasons: the soda machine and the menu's. Clean eating area. Clean restrooms. Food is flavorful and you get a choice of corn or flour tortilla for the tacos. Meat is well seasoned. Two to three tacos is filling for a meal. Nachos have the canned cheese so you may be happier in ordering different tacos and just grab some chips with it. The meat is well cut with minimal gristle. But some is left on for flavor. They have a salsa bar which is well maintained. Soda fountain is one of the new screen touch Coke machines so you have a wide variety. It is self serve for sodas and salsa and chips. Ok....well this place has really become my wife and my go to place when we are hungry....dressed casually...and on a budget. LOL Some may think this place is not so thrifty but my wife knows the secret..It's called the "Platter for Two" where is it on the menu? It's not. worst service ever. i tried calling for pick up but it went to a stupid voicemail, and when i got there the cashier or manager, not sure he was wearing a grey button up didn't greet me and was extremely rude while taking my order. it then took 20 minutes for TWO tacos. then i saw it was ready and the cook rang the bell and BOTH runners were on break or something i don't know but one was talking on her phone. a lot of the salsas were empty and it was filthy. second time coming through those doors and it looked horrid. read more

I really liked taco tote. I've been there a few times and every time I was amazed about the food. The tacos are highly recommended. We just order 1 pound of arrachera, and it came with 12 tortillas.
