The rare houseplants section has multiple plants that are not only wildly overpriced, but covered in spidermites. Their painted lady philodendron table has multiple infestations. And it's very obvious, so either the staff don't care or they are extremely uneducated on pests. These plants should be taken off the floor and quarantined and treated. read more

A cute garden center so close to us! We came here for the pumpkin patch festivities.. our baby is probably a bit too young/little to enjoy much, but her parents (us) enjoyed our time! They had cute little displays set up to take photos at, and while we were there: pony rides, owl demonstration, and pumpkin decorating stations. Everyone there was super nice and helpful and they had a ton of pumpkin selection! A little bit pricier than you would get at a grocery store ($0.69/lb for small pumpkins, $1.99/lb for large pumpkins), but the experience was worth it for a bit of a price hike. read more

I cant not express enough good things about this place! My partner and I like to nursery hop so we can gauge different gardens and compare them. Everything here is reasonably priced and there are some very unique plants you can not find in other places. Indoor area is HUGE. Not to mention, incredible customer service! I purchased more than three times the seed needed to sead an area in my yard. I was recommended a Colorado sead that never took. I followed the correct procedures and nothing happened. The bin that I purchased from was almost empty and i have a feeling it was last years sead. I spoke with linda at Tagawas and was pretty much told there is nothing they can help with because this is the first time she has delt with this issue. I purchased seed from a big box store and it all started coming up within two weeks. Buyers beware!!! read more

This place has an excellent selection of perennials and shrubs. They also do a good job keeping their plants healthy, and the people there are helpful. But I was recently there to buy 10 boxwoods of different varieties. It would have cost me over 1,000. (80 for the most basic boxwood). Placed this order online at Tree Center for about 1/4 the cost (with a coupon.) I'd love to give my money locally, but Tagawa should consider reducing prices, it's a little out of hand and market doesn't support it. read more

I have been shopping at Tagawa for the past 6 years or so. At first I loved the place. Absolutely beautiful place to walk around and learn about what will and will not grow here. I have taken dozens of free courses here over the years and really learned a lot. But within the last year the classes are turning more into sales pitches and losing their "community garden" feel. I know Tagawa offers them free as a way to get people in the door but it just feels so much more infomercial these days. The staff has gone from being approachable and friendly to snarky (as another reviewer mentioned) and condescending. Prices are going up like crazy and its just not justified. I bought 3 trees there and 1 at Tree Farm and planted them all on the same fence line last year. The one from tree farm (same variety, Tagawa didn't have all 4 I needed) was 1/2 the price and has done much better with both growth and overall health. Was recently in for the big Mothers Day buy one get one free hanging basket sale. Almost every basket in the place was a 10 inch petunia pot. Fine. But for $35 a pot? I just feel like they are losing their family run roots and becoming an overpriced professional shop. If I wanted that I could go to Lowes for 1/3 of the cost. It's still a beautiful place to walk around on a Spring or Summer day. Just not the best place to actually buy anything. read more

I had a terrible experience at Tagawa! I even left my full cart of merchandise and took my business elsewhere after getting a condescending and utterly rude response to a simple question from a floor sales rep. As a beginning gardener, I was not given friendly advice or pointers, but made to feel in the wrong and belittled. I really wanted to support a local Colorado business when planting my garden this spring, but the staff at Tagawa was so unavailable and unhelpful that I ended up going to Home Depot where they were friendly and eager to help with my project planning. Tagawa has a wide selection, but if you're looking for customer service I recommend going elsewhere! read more

It always seems like Tagawa gardens has it going on. If you happen to be in the Centennial area traveling down Parker Road, it is just past Broncos Parkway. This is just a little south of the Cornerstar shopping district as well. It is important to note that you do not get into Tagawa gardens from Broncos Parkway but rather the immediate right just after Broncos Parkway. Yes, I am detail oriented and yes I get irritated when I have to make u-turns. But enough of me and my driving inadequacies, whether its a show with pigs who know how to fetch or a host of artisan crafts, Tagawa gardens keeps it interesting. Not that it needs to all the time. Sometimes you just need some house plants and the staff will be more than happy to tell you about how much you need to water or when you need to get a new pot. Make it a trip and it is definitely great for kids. read more

We were driving around the area apartment hunting for Sam and we passed Tagawa Gardens. I had heard of this place and now I know where it is. It was late on Sunday so we didn't have a lot of time to look around in detail. My whole body went straight for the Cacti and Succulents. I love them. They have a really nice variety of Cacti and Succulents as well as house plants, garden decor, tables, chairs, soil, pansies were just being put out and everything in between. The prices did seem a little steep on some things. This is to be expected at nurseries I think, so I wasn't surprised. They must have known I was coming since all Cacti and Succulents were 25% off, very nice that nurseries still offer specials like this. The people here are very nice as well. Everything looks very well grown and taken care of. Next time I venture out here I might have to spend a couple hours looking around at every little thing. I will totally make the drive out here for another visit for my green thumb. read more

I love roaming around Tagawa Gardens. I've been shopping here for years despite the fact that I really have no idea how to pronounce "Tagawa". Should I emphasize the first syllable? The second? .....the third? Nah, probably not the third. But, really, who knows? Anyway... Like I said, I've been coming to Tagawa for years. The selection is first rate whether I want to find houseplants, garden plants, or anything related. The problem is that I have a hard time paying the prices that Tagawa charges. I always feel like I could get a better price almost anywhere else. I have never left Tagawa feeling like I got a great deal. I may have found something that I thought was special or rare, but I've always had to pay a hefty price for it. read more

My friend and I went here for the Garlic Festival which was really a cooking contest between the staff. Many made something featuring garlic and we tasted about 15 different recipes. There were pasta dishes, sauces, and spreads. I really liked the packet of recipes they provided with us too. The staff in the festival area were so friendly and excited to have us there. Afterward we walked around and my friend got some gardening stuff she needed. There was not enough staff on the floor in my opinion and there were plenty of customers there not attending the festival. We stood around nearly 15 minutes before anyone came over to offer assistance. That part was disappointing. We were looking for several trees for our front and back yards. We visited Tagawa and talked with some of their staff members about what would be good options, they gave us great advice. They didn't have a particular tree that we wanted but recommended a couple other nurseries that might have them. (We ended up going with a different type of tree). We visited several other farms and nurseries in the metro area and Tagawa was hands down the best. They had the best prices. Phenomenal customer service- every time we were there, someone greeted us, gave us all the help we needed and everyone was so friendly. We ended up buying all of our trees from them. read more

Not again...thinking I'm getting on Yelp to update my Tagawa review and I haven't written one at all. Sigh. This is my favorite nursery in the metro Denver area. The staff is so helpful and patient and they seem to know everything. On Saturday my 15-year-old wanted to buy a banzai but doesn't know anything about them and didn't want to spend much money. We got a woman in the area to help us and she must have spend 20+ minutes with us. She made sure he got an appropriate pot and, since we just missed the annual banzai class the previous week, helped him anchor it and repot it. It was quite involved and we really appreciated the expertise. My husband has bought worms and ladybugs there for composting and aphid eating so they sell more than just plants. Lots of garden-y stuff and just cool things to check out. They have lots and lots of classes (many free or cheap) so sign up for their email newsletter and you'll get the schedule. The only reason for 4 starts vs 5 is because it's expensive. No doubt, you get what you pay for but I can get into some trouble there. read more

I decided to go here this season to get major help for Perennials - the ones I buy at Home Depot keep dying on us! I was a bit disappointed, mostly about finding 'help' because the inventory of flowers, herbs & plants is amazing! The Gentleman 'greeter' at the door was more helpful than the woman I found - just pointed to a certain area when I told her what I was looking for. :-( She seemed irritated that I bothered her in the middle of her task. Bummed me out, I went here to get true help......gain knowledge and spend money. The good thing was, the signs are very informative to a point - the more X's, the less water needed . AND the other customers are helpful too!! I won't be going back. The prices are too high for me to buy plants that may not handle very well on our property. And I go to these types of Nursery's assuming the employees can help, or want to help....I'm better off being ignored at Home Depot, at least I won't feel so bad if the plants die on me (they're cheap). BUT.....the girl who sells Tamales out front IS AWESOME. They were good! :) I might go back just for those! lol. read more

Holy Garden Center craziness! This is heaven for earth for any green thumbs out there. Matt is the green thumb in the relationship and has a big garden this year. He wanted to find some unique pepper plants to buy here and mission accomplished. The prices are much lower here than anywhere else I've seen in Denver. And-get this-they have live music and free food (popcorn, sodas, hot dogs) on the weekends. The last thing I expected when walking in was hearing a folk rendition of "500 miles" and a huge audience singing along. It's way out of the way for me but well worth the trip down south for any of your garden needs. read more

Really left a bad taste in my mouth-- really didn't need her criticism this morning. I am in the process of doing some re-landscaping and somebody told me to go to Tagawa's. Their online site includes a list of what I assume are shrubs and trees that they sold last year but may not have this year. So I compiled a list with some options, called them and was told by the "head of their shrubs and trees" to forward it by email and he'd get back to me. So I sent it through their online email form in the middle of March. Two weeks later no response. So I called again, talked to a guy named Phil who told me to send another email and he'd get right back to me. He even asked for my name and I got the impression he wrote it down. I sent an email within 5 minutes on April 10. It's now the 21st and haven't heard back. I estimate my purchases would total $700 - $1000. They obviously aren't interested in my business so I'll take it elsewhere! read more

Tagawa Gardens is a great garden center. They have a large selection of plants,and an excellent knowledgeable staff that is very helpful. Their plants are excellent, and I have never had a problem with any of the plants I've bought there. They guarantee all of their plants for 1 year. The only reason I can't give them 5 stars is their prices. They are always about 20% higher than some of the other nurseries in the area, so I have been going to Nick's Garden Center more often. Overall a great nursery, but you pay a bit more for their expertise, excellent plants and knowledgeable staff. read more

I went to Tagawa for the first time as many have recommended them. I was absolutely thrown off by the prices! A single parsley plant with 2 leafs on it was $5.00. This place is endless! They have what you would expect...trees, plants, flowers. But they also have a seasonal section. Right now it's filled with Halloween decor. They also have an area with garden themed decor for the home...pillows, jewelry, books, and other fun gift items. There is a special section for fairy garden building. Their items are a bit pricey especially compared to a Home Depot or Lowe's. The employees have said it's because they have better quality trees and plants. So far we haven't noticed a difference but time will tell. read more

Tagawa Gardens is a 30 min. drive from my house - other garden shops are closer. But Tagawa is so superior that it's worth every mile and minute. In this time of Covid 19 they are doing everything possible to keep customers safe from controlling the number of people inside to wide aisles and "one way traffic". This is my go-to nursery since moving to Denver. It's HUGE and always so much fun to walk around. You can easily spend a couple of hours here. Their plant selection is consistently wonderful, the layout is beautiful, and I've had incredible luck with everything I've bought from them. However, they are pricey (you get what you pay for though) and the service, while often friendly, is inconsistent as the staff can be a tad condescending at times. read more

Tagawa is a great nursery. One of the things I like the most is that they treat their staff well enough that they stick around. It is nice to be able to see familiar faces and receive consistent opinions from people when it comes to gardening. Leslie has helped us with everything from roses to birds to pests, and being new gardeners, we have appreciated the help. Tagawa offers a wide variety of classes and events which are free or inexpensive. I have gone to a few of them and you gain a lot of knowledge in a short time span. Since the teachers are usually staff, it is easy to come back another time if you need further help with something. The flower selection is amazing, and we have had the most success with vegetables that come from their starters. The prices are a bit high, but you can get a 20% off coupon for a single item with every purchase if you sign up to receive their newsletter, and Denver Botanic Garden members receive 10% off all purchases. read more

My son did a virtual zoom call with Tagawa's Santa Claus today, and it was the most amazing call to watch!!! My son is almost ten years old and still believes in Santa, and after today I know he will continue believing. It was so easy to sign up for the call, it ran on time, I was able to record the call, and Santa was fantastic!!!
