Definitely a surprise! This hidden gem is tucked away between mountains - it has a great atmosphere. The dining room was a little chilly, but we had coats so we were fine. We started with the pita bread appetizer. The pita was phenomenal, but the "pesto" sauce tasted closer to ranch than pesto (not that I'm complaining). The menu is surprisingly diverse - they offer pizza (on pitas), sandwiches (on pitas), mexican food (on pitas), and burgers (with choice of bun or pita). Didn't expect such pita love in the middle of Utah. The burgers were HUGE, and topped with all sorts of fun stuff! (I did not expect sprouts at this place). The buns were delicious and hearty. Our server was great and admitted if she didn't know something (she seemed pretty young and couldn't answer our beer questions, so she sent over someone more knowledgeable). Food is just okay but doesn't taste fresh. However, the biggest disappointment is the owner Steve who seems to have no customer service skills at all. They accept call-aheads but won't allow you inside the restaurant lobby to even check-in. They met us at the door, forcing us back to an empty podium in the walkway. A girl said someone would be out in a minute which was not the case. When Steve came out, he refused to help anyone until we were all standing behind the red rope, like we were a bunch of 2-year-olds at the Oscars with Steve and his red carpet. If this all was done to maintain social distancing, then why were they allowing people to congregate in the yard area, literally people on top of one another waiting for Steve to make his grand entrance. This place has never been known for their excellent service but now that the quality of food has gone downhill too, we don't have a reason to return. Maybe local restaurants like this should take heed because customers will only take so much of their sub-par service and quality before heading back to the chains...at least with those we know what to expect and don't have to tolerate being treated like kindergarteners on the first day of school! read more

All I can say is wow!! This place was amazing!! You would never even know they are there!! Just tucked away off the freeway in Morgan. It was a super busy Sunday, and we only had to wait five minutes to be seated!! Our waitress was super sweet and so helpful helping us make a decision!!! I went with a small group of eight people. Taggarts accepts call-ahead seating, and we called, but still had to wait. This place is small and loud, and the bathrooms are small as well. There are no sound barriers or muffling. I ordered the turkey sandwich and side salad with raspberry vinaigrette. The vinaigrette was unusually creamy but tasty. The sandwich wasn't really a sandwich; it was more like a wrap in pita bread. It tasted nice. My husband had fish and chips. The service was a little on the slow side. We even commented that we had been forgotten when it took 10 minutes to get our drink order. When our waitress brought our checks, she said the usual, "I'll be your cashier whenever you're ready." But that wasn't true. One couple attempted to pay their bill right then, but the waitress said she'd be back for it. My sister and I ate lunch there today. The food was delicious but the service left a lot to be desired. Our server was unfriendly, never once smiled at us and basically acted like we were putting her out to have to serve us. We had to search her out in another part of the restaurant to tell her we were done and needed our check and then she seemed angry that we asked. I am normally a great tipper, 25% -30%, but not today, she was very lucky that I left her %15. We still had fun but it definitely made our meal less enjoyable for sure. The first thing you need to know is that Taggarts really isn't in Morgan, but is in a town called... Taggart. You will drive past Morgan, heading north on I-84 until you see the Taggart exit. There you will see a homey restaurant at the base of a large mountain with a Peacock (if the weather is pleasant) roaming around the entrance. If it is summer, there will be even more in the back yard which has a beautiful pathway and a pond filled with colorful fish. (Although sometimes access is closed if rattlesnakes are seen. The terrain is wild all around Taggart's so they don't take chances.) While the decor is pleasant the food is better. Order anything on the menu, you can't go wrong! I do have a few favorites: For a lighter fare I will order a bowl of soup with a hot, freshly cooked roll (try their signature artichoke soup, or clam chowder or tomato bisque if available). If I am really hungry, I will order a meal which comes with the soup, salad and roll. But fact is, EVERYTHING is delicious. You simply can't go wrong. We didn't feel safe, " masks optional " meant that the servers were not wearing any masks and I'm sure that there were no extra precautions being taken. The food wasn't anything special. "Pasta primavera " was actually alfredo smothered in cream and cheese. " Halibut and chips " seemed like frozen fishsticks to me. Discovered this amazing restaurant while staying in Morgan for two days. The first night we tried the chicken enchilada with the white sauce, absolutely decadent and finished off our meal with the delectable cheesecake. The second night we tried the Fish and Chips, yummy! Ok, Taggarts. I've been coming to you for years. Before it was because I'd be visiting family in the area and we'd drive up the canyon for lunch or dinner. Now I live here and so I frequent more often. Your food is delicious! There's no doubt about it. But I've decided to give you a neutral review because of some things I think need improving. First off, parking. I see your signs that say "Taggarts Restaurant Parking Only." You REALLY need to enforce this. My mom and I were meeting there this past Saturday for lunch. We arrived separately. As I drive in the gravel lot, I have to pass a gigantic school bus of tubers. I swing left, then right, to go all the way down the lot and there's my mom walking with her cane. She had to park passed the lot where the road starts by the Park City rafting company. She freakin' walked and she's disabled. Now, I know it was a busy day. I could see the number of people in the restaurant. And, even calling 30 minutes ahead, we still waited 15 minutes for a table for two. I get it. But I saw with my own eyes, a car of guys getting out with their tubes. You need to enforce this parking! Secondly, you need more than one handicap. Usually, when I'm with my mom, either my dad or I will drop her off. But one spot?!?! One? Come on. How about all the spots that line the front are handicap. Secondly, I would love it if you have a bit more diversity in your menu for those with dietary restrictions. I'm pretty much limited to the same grilled chicken salad every time. Lastly, can you please put a hook in your bathroom? I get in there and there's nowhere to set my purse, so I have to get creative and hang on the joint of the door. Just a nice plastic, over-the-door hook will do. Oh, one more thing. Our server was Janae, I think. Petite gal with a nasally voice. She brought the bill while my mom had half of her food still on her plate. She didn't ask if she was through. She didn't ask "How you doing? Will you be needing a box today?" Nope. She just brought the check right over. Here's the best part: Not exaggerating, she came back literally one minute later to get the check. Uh, it was in the exact same place where you set it. There was no card sticking out. Plate is still half full of food. Get a clue. She had it in her hand when my mom had to stop her because she hadn't paid yet. I'm sure you're anxious to turn as many tables as possible, but that's a bit extreme. Listen, I love this place. It's a great destination restaurant. I think there just needs to be a bit of small improvements for a better experience. read more

Stopped at Taggart's on our way to Snow Basin from Park City. Would give 6 stars is possible for their epic Chicken-Mushroom-Artichoke soup and French dip sandwich. This precious, cabin-y, café-grill is 50 minutes from Park City and SO worth the drive. The setting, between 2 steep mountains, is the beginning of a good story. Go for lunch and see if you're successful walking out without something from the dessert case. If we're in Park City for skiing or during summer, you'll find us heading for Taggart's. Went here for Sunday outing. Had heard about this place many times so decided we needed to try it out. The food was great and the service was too. My husband had the Taggart Burger with fries. He really enjoyed it all. The burger had a horseradish based sauce and he really liked it. The fries were really good too. I had the chicken and portobello mushroom pasta. It was good. The pasta was a bit over cooked but the sauce was great. We got a carrot cake to go but have heard from many that the desserts are well worth the drive alone. Hope it's so. We ordered takeout early Friday evening. When we drove up we noticed very few customers wore masks. The hostess station was outside, so that helped with social distancing, however, there were no instructions for picking up takeout. When I finally got to the front of the line, I was told to just go inside to pick up my order. Inside was chaos as people were crowded around the pastry cases, and with the exception of the staff, I was one of only a few customers wearing a mask. So we get there, and weari g mask and followed all the regulations out there and ask for a table for two and inform them i would like inside when offered to eat inside or outside. So they proceed to check the inside and come back and inform me its full and if I could wait, which is cool. We sit down and more people come in and im in earshot of everything. Some people ask to eat outside so they go through, cool i think. Then another couple gets there and ask to eat inside which I dodnt catch but my GF did. They go in. Then another group comes, 5 people, and ask to be seated inside, they wait 2 minutes, and in they go. So... I looked on the menu online and I decided it was a good place for my friends. I saw the portions were pretty large, most of us had food remaining on our side plates when we were finished. We all tried different items on the menu and we were all satisfied... except me. I got a kids meal because I didn't want leftovers and when I asked for them to substitute mac and cheese for the fries, I got a strict no. This seriously upset because I really was craving some freaking mac and cheese. But the fries were like EXTRAAAAA crispy so that was like, sort of, a plus? What an awesome surprise in the middle of nowhere Utah! We tubed the Weber river, and Yelp found us out here. Glad we listened!. The building, inside and outside is beautiful. There's a beautiful garden outdoors. Would make for a fun day. All the food we had was incredible. The jalapeño burger cooked to order was divine, and the onion rings even better.
