Whitecaps Pizza -- North Lake Tahoe…read more Whitecaps Pizza is one of those spots where the location alone gives it a little extra something. Sitting on the patio with a view of the lake automatically puts a place a notch above, in my opinion. We had a group of 10 of us, and considering Whitecaps is one of the busiest spots on the North Shore, we decided to try our luck. They don't really have a set system for ordering ahead or takeout--it seems to depend pretty heavily on how busy they are. Luckily, they were able to get our whole group right in! Our server was quick, efficient and friendly, especially considering how busy they were. Drinks and food came out without us feeling like we were waiting forever. For a drink, I had the prickly pear cider, which was crisp, sweet and delicious. My wife and I started with the Caesar salad, which was fresh and really good. It was definitely heavy on the garlic, but I happen to LOVE garlic, so that worked for me. We also ordered the garlic cheese bread for the table. I had high hopes because it comes on focaccia, and I thought that would give it a little something different and maybe take it over the top. Unfortunately, this one just didn't do it for me. It was a little dry and lacked the flavor I was hoping for. For our entrée, my wife and I shared the pesto chicken sandwich. It was good and definitely did the trick, but I wouldn't say it was the best pesto chicken sandwich I've ever had. Now...the pizza. Several people in our group ordered different pizzas, and every bite I stole was SO good. Someone ordered the shrimp scampi pizza, which was a little different than what I would normally order, but WOW--it was really, really good. Overall, even with the restaurant being extremely busy, the service was efficient and our food and drinks didn't take forever. And let's be honest, sitting on a patio with a view of Lake Tahoe while eating pizza is hard to beat. So if you're on the North Shore, give this little spot a whirl. Just be prepared for it to be busy--and if they have room for you, take advantage of it!

We're local folks from Incline Village and we used to go to Alibi at least three or four times a…read moreweek. We haven't been going recently for a number of reasons, and our recent visit reinforced what those reasons were: - The beer is nowhere near as good as it was when it was made here in Incline. - The concept has changed from being a brewery to being a restaurant, so you get the crowds associated with that. - Food prices are through the roof, even though the food is pretty good. - Service is really crappy and not friendly or kind at all...for instance, when I asked for the difference between Chance of Crowds and Chance of Clouds, they pushed the menu toward me and told me to read it. When our pizza got delivered, I asked for plates and they said go to the bar and get them. These people must hate working here! - They've gotten rid of the nice grassy area in the back and while they've added a lot of chairs, the back yard is a bunch of sand and dirt now. Bottom line: I think Alibi in Incline Village is trying to turn into the Alibi in Truckee where there's lots of screaming kids running around, big crowds, blocked off sections for private parties, and mediocre beer. If you're looking for an average restaurant, this is it. If you're looking for a craft brewery, go to Revision in Reno.

Three Sheets Brewing Company - Great Service, Underwhelming Food…read more We visited Three Sheets Brewing Company hoping for a satisfying meal and some craft brews, but walked away feeling a bit underwhelmed -- with a few highlights and several misses. Food: The biggest disappointment was the hamburger, which we ordered medium-rare but received well-done. It was dry, overcooked, and lacked any real flavor -- honestly, we wouldn't order it again. The pulled pork sandwich had decent taste, though it was on the dry side and could've used more BBQ sauce to bring it to life. The shrimp were fine but forgettable. The seafood bisque was probably the best thing we had -- rich and creamy with a nice depth of flavor. The crab cakes had good seasoning but were a bit soggy on the outside. We also ordered fries, but they never made it to the table, which was frustrating. Drinks: We tried two of their house beers, and while drinkable, they were just average -- nothing that stood out or made us want to order a second round. Service: On the bright side, our waitress was very pleasant and attentive, doing her best despite the kitchen issues. Her friendly service helped soften the experience. Final Thoughts: While the vibe is relaxed and the service was great, the food execution and beer quality didn't quite deliver. There's potential here, but it needs more consistency -- and attention to detail -- to be worth a return visit.

The steak was a little too chewy and tough for my taste, but overall good flavor. I loved the wild rice pilaf side! - lemonade and sierra sunburn: both really fresh and seemed like they were made from fresh lemons! the raspberry in the sunburn was great The lighting was warm and the lights were really overhead. The benches were comfortable and not cold to sit on, and overall nice, clean, comfy environment. Service was really friendly and apologized that the drinks menu didn't have dairy-free options for some of the drinks with dairy, overall really attentive and engaging. We found a lot of street parking a few minutes away and walked over, also took a walk on the lake beach right behind it which was super pretty

If you ask me for places that stand out in the greater Reno-Tahoe region brew scene, The Good Wolf…read morewould be near the top of the list. For years now, I've been saying these guys make some of the best, most unique beers in our area. And anyone looking for a solid pint or some creative things to try, would do well to swing by. Firstly, I absolutely love the location. It's a cozy little spot in the north Truckee industrial area. But step through the doors, and you enter a space that can only be described as a mix of hippy commune and witch's lair, with some delightfully quirky decor, and an incredibly friendly staff. Really does feel like a hidden gem. But as for r the beers themselves; in short, I think these are some of the best quality, and most niche types of brews you'll find around here. They have a smaller menu, but what they have is dominated by their Forest Beer series. These are concoctions made with all sorts of foraged ingredients from the forests, fields, and farms close to Truckee. Always changing, it is something to try out. The Borrowed Bines used fresh cut hops, the Bay Shore uses locally culled bay leaves, the Range of Light uses picked juniper berries, and the Dirt Candy uses mushrooms that grow in the woods. They also have been breaking into brewing their own apple cider, which is delicious but quite strong. Plus, they will usually have N/A options with their house lemonade or brewed soda on tap, too. So yeah, the menu almost certainly has something for everyone. Prices for everything are pretty typical.for the area, usually around $8-9 per pint. Though my one sort of gripe is that the smaller 4-5 ounce tasters are like $4 each, a bit pricier than most other tasters, so that makes it quickly more pricy to try out a lot of their menu. If you want any beers to-go, sadly they only offer a few at this juncture, and in bottles. And there is no food here, just a few snacks for sale. But make sure to browse their swag stands, as they have some eclectic merch. All in all, I definitely encourage any beer fans to come and check this spot out. Been one of my favorites for years, and I'll bet it can easily become one of yours, too. Cheers, all!
