HappyRon, is a singer songwriter and we normally go where he performs; however, decided to break out of our usual mold and went. We had so much fun. It was the best karaoke we have been too. The host was great, Mary Kat poured great drinks, we had white russians and the crowd was fun and responsive. Will come again when back in town. read more

Ok...a few years back I would have given the Paddle Wheel a few stars less...but they got rid of the smoking. It was the only bar in Incline that I did not like because of the cigarette smoke...However, a month ago or so our kids were in town and we went...wow! They banned smoking, and I think sort of redid the interior. Great place! Plenty of TVs for sports some darts and other games. Service was great. read more

Wonderful local yokel dive bar in Incline Village. Inexpensive drinks, great service from Brian, TV's everywhere and he'll put on any game you want. They don't serve food, but you can get it to go from Austin's next door and eat it here if you ask :-) Love this place and will be back. Great value in Tahoe and recommend if you like dive bars. My sister and I were looking for a place to grab a few beers after driving up to Tahoe. We originally were wanting to try Austin's, but they were closed last minute. This place was next door and looked like it had decent outdoor seating, so since we were already parked, figure we'd give it a go. I had my dog with me, and had her on leash- 1. Because she doesn't listen off leash but 2. Because there was a LARGE and BOLD sign right on the front of the bar that said "dogs must be kept on leash". We rounded the corner and were -charged- by 3 off leash dogs, one of which was growling. I've worked in animal behavior long enough to know friendly and unfriendly approaches, and the growling dog meant business- he came in fast, stiff, and low to the ground, and by no means was there to "play". No one bothered to get off their butts to call their dogs off, and there were probably 10 people sitting around. I still have no idea whose dogs they were. Finally as I'm making a fast retreat, my sister moving in between my dog and the other dogs, and the dogs still following us to our car, an older guy yells at them to get back over to the bar. No apology, nothing. And if my dog had indeed tried to fight back instead of me completely bailing? Well, she's a pit bull, so even though we followed the rules, we all know who would end up taking the blame here. I know we wouldn't have spent a lot so the loss of our business probably doesn't matter much, but the fact that my dog's safety was jeopardized because someone (maybe the owner? Who knows) thinks the rules doesn't apply to them? Yeah, no thanks. We ended up going to Crosby's, who were super lovely both staff and patrons alike. read more

Plenty of tvs to enjoy sports and the location is walking distance to beautiful scenery, hikes and the beach. We loved it and will be back to visit again. The atmosphere was so warm and friendly, we felt right at home. The staff were super friendly and attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. The drinks were amazing, and we loved trying out the signature cocktails. The bar also had a great selection of drinks, which we really appreciated. We especially enjoyed being able to sit outside and enjoy the amazing views - the location really couldn't be better. It was so convenient to be able to walk over to our hotel. I've known Tahoe to have a few dive bars, but right next to the Hyatt? We came here with some friends who used to work at Lone Eagle and it turns out this is like the local cheers. Everyone definitely knew their names after quite a few years away from the area! This spot has a down home locals vibe. There's a limited draft selection, mostly domestics, full bar, TVs and other remnants of the olden days, a popcorn machine and an electronic dart board. We grabbed some brews and baskets of popcorn (just eat from them and try not to look at em), and setup shop in front of the dart board. Someone chose to play a game of Cricket, which no one knew the rules to. We randomly threw plastic darts at the board trying to figure out how to score points. With 4 very amateur players the game went on FOREVER, and it wasn't until about round 26 or so (yes, that means we threw more than 300 darts) that we got it dialed in. By round 36, I was done, so I ran up to the board and ended the game, which made me the winner (by cheating) and ended our night here. The Paddle Wheel is all about their regulars, some of which have been coming in for almost an eternity. Seems nothing about this place has changed much, and I don't expect it to in the future. If you need a quick, affordable nightcap near the high end Hyatt, this is your place. read more

I was in town for the 4th of July weekend and looking for a good bar, this place got pretty decent reviews so decided to check it out. Should have just stayed in. At first, service was quick and drinks were cheap..yeah maybe because the bartender himself was intoxicated on something. The bartender was crazy. At one point he actually got frustrated and shoved a bunch of pills in his mouth and walked out of the bar. Some of the regular patrons had to actually act as bartenders that night. This was just crazy and really dramatic. If you are looking for a night filled with drama, crazy locals, and drinks out of red cups..then you have found your winner. Too weird for me. read more

We came here for a late night cap with some friends while up in Tahoe. We played the world's longest game of darts! It was a pretty fun time to just hang out! They have popcorn for the customers which makes for a super nice treat while you are chatting or playing a fun game of darts. This was a nice low key place to hang out and have some fun with our friends. There were not a lot of people which was nice. The locals were very friendly chatting with us as well as offering advice on our dart throwing =0) The only downfall for me is that it was extremely smoky in there. I left feeling a little smoked out, however that kind of is expected in a smaller bar. read more

I've been frequenting this bar for about 10 years now. I used to work at the Hyatt down the street, and the Paddle Wheel was THE local hangout. So the 4th star may be just for nostalgia's sake, but I'm going to try to justify it! It's a dive bar. Like, you know those places you go, and you call them dive bars? Probably 50% of them are not actually dive bars. THIS place is a dive bar! It's dark, it's smokey, people are playing video poker, there's a great jukebox, a dart board, a popcorn maker where you can fill up bottomless bowls of popcorn, and a random assortment of locals who have been going there twice as long as I've been going there. Drinks are inexpensive, staff and patrons are unpretentious, and there's plenty of seating. Definitely a fun place to stumble into with a crew of people late at night for some good drinks, good music, darts, popcorn and fun! read more

Scotty is the Sam Malone of Incline...there have been some real pieces of work that have tended bar at the Wheel (including intensely misogynistic dicks), but Scotty is kind, funny, witty, and the very reason people of all ages frequent a bar and become regulars.
