Heading from Dallas to Little Rock, I wanted to just take a quick little trip before I continued on my way. I wasn't willing to sacrifice quality food for convenience and speed though, so I made a stop here after a quick search. It was a good thing I did. I ordered the Jalapeno burger and if you see my pics, you'll see that it was indeed a Jalapeno burger. They do not skimp on ingredients. Fresh ingredients too, may I add. We had the Reuben, Cheesburger, Mustang salad, & Bunless Wonder. Got it takeout. Checked everything and it was as we ordered. Everyone demolished their food. Only complaint was the Bunless Wonder was advertised as a "salad". (On the menu pics we could find) It is definitely a sandwich with no bun. The person who ate it ended up being fine with the portion size but did make a comment about the size compared to the Mustang salad. They also had to cut it all up to make it a salad, including the grilled chicken patty/breast but was already cut up on the Mustang. It is a small "salad" compared to the Mustang. Some people may not be happy with this when expecting a salad. I'm giving 5 stars for taste, correct order, and all staff was helpful & welcoming. read more

I hate to do this because it is a special place with excellent burgers, but... ...I offered my girl a taste of my Reuben. She said, "Something's missing". And she was correct. What was missing is enough corned beef to make it any other but a sauerkraut sandwich. The kraut was perfectly sour and wonderfully complemented by the sweet dressing. The taste was robust and so much of it I used a fork to eat it like a salad. But it wasn't a Reuben rather a kraut salad with large, rye croutons and smattering of beef texture and flavor. The applewood smoked bacon cheeseburger with a side of fried green beans was delicious. The bacon was crispy and crunchy, providing a nice contrast with the melty cheese and tender beef patty. Another of our group got the Avocado cheeseburger with the hand cut fries, which was generously slathered with slices of fresh avocado. The fries were perfectly cooked, fluffy inside and not greasy at all. They make their own malts here, and let me tell you, they are VERY GOOD!! Order at the counter and staff will deliver your food to you in the dining room. Later the owner will check on you personally to make sure everything is okay as you wanted it. I had a Nathan's hot dog with fried okra. I am a huge fan of fried okra, and Tailgater's does it right! The only problem was that the portion size was so generous that I couldn't finish them all! We were traveling back to Dallas from Tennessee and needed some grub and boy am I glad this place came up on the map!! I had the avocado burger, and it was perfect!! Sweet potato fries were the best I've ever had, hands down! The owner was so sweet, she came over and checked on us several time. She told my youngest, after he ate he could get a toy outa the vending machine, and when we were about done, she came by and gave him some quarters to get a prize!! She even gave him a little train hat! She was so incredibly friendly!! We will definitely be adding this to our future trips to Tennessee!! read more

There is an atmosphere of fun from the moment you first walk up the entrance, as you're greeted with an antique red car. Upon entry, the vintage signage and car themed tables remind you of a bygone era, one of milk shakes, cokes, hamburgers, hotdogs and your sweetheart by your side! With many to choose from, my personal favorites are the mushroom swiss burger and the chili dog covered in sauerkraut! I was impressed with the yelp response so I traveled the couple of miles off I30 to check out Tailgaters. In a town that offers little hope, it's a light in a dark place. The building is decorated well and conveniently located on Main Street right across from the local depot/museum. At noon on a Tuesday the place was half full of a combination of locals and tourists. No table service, you order at the counter and get you drink yourself. I ordered the medium Gorgonzola burger combo and for a $1 more asked for half fried green beans and half onion strings instead of the hand cut fries. The patties are formed by hand and the cheese was dripping everywhere. I was grateful for the roll of paper towels on the table and it wasn't long before the owner came by to check on me. Nice to know there is an oasis between Little Rock and Dallas worth checking out. read more

It was also decorated for Christmas which was a nice touch. Sat on a booth that had previously been a bed of a pickup truck. Very quaint! The food was delicious. I had an avocado burger which was well-cooked with fresh avocado slices and other traditional burger toppings. My dad tried the mushroom & Swiss burger and was equally as impressed. Mom had the Gorgonzola burger and let me sample a bite. The flavor from the Gorgonzola was strong but not overwhelming. Very well done. The chocolate shake was the perfect thickness and contained the desired ratio of chocolate syrup to whip cream. Very filling. Overall, Tailgaters Burger Company is a must-visit if you are ever in Hope, AR. Friendly service, great burgers and an awesome atmosphere. This place is a fun little burger joint with good food and Southern hospitality. I ordered and then realized I forgot my wallet in the car, which my husband had just taken to get gas (we were on a road trip and knew it would take a minute for our food). I told the gal at the counter and she told me it was no problem - they'd go ahead and make it and we could pay when he got back. I forgot to ask for the order to go, but when our food was brought out, all I had to do was open my mouth and the gal said "Did you want it to go? I'll bag it up." On point. The burgers were delicious. Little man's corndog was a bit overdone, but he's a kid - he doesn't really care too much. The fries were great, as were the fried green beans, but my favorite side was the fried pickles. Mmmm all the sides were good, especially dipped in their yummy ranch. We tried the (1/2 pound) applewood bacon burger, the Gorgonzola burger, the 1/3 pound cheeseburger, and the "Heart Attack Dog" (a Nathan's dog split, stuffed with cheddar, wrapped in BACON, and FRIED). All were cooked to perfection, and served with a generous side of hand cut fries. The fried green beans and onion strings are also not to be missed! What an experience! The person that took our order was so thoughtful that when we ordered a kids hotdog, she asked if my child ate the bun. Since I said no, she offered to give us 2 hotdogs with the meal. When our order came out, my husband and I were working with our kids and she offered to get us ketchup, napkins, and forks/knives. Again, I was impressed with her thoughtfulness. The food was good, too. Your standard Americana food like hamburgers, sandwiches, and thick potato fries. It's too bad we are just passing through.
