This is from January 2024: On their website tailoreddata.com, they mention free quotes, while recognizing their 30+ years in business and positive reviews. I took in my hard drive and explained my issue to David and how disappointed that the place I took it to originally, weren't able to recover my data. He said it would take 3-5 business days. Feeling that there was a chance in fixing my computer, I asked if I could pay now (which was $150) and left. David calls shortly after to ask questions regarding the hard drive. I'm put on hold so he could talk to the tech guy (whom I never saw, but assumed he was in back). David then told me it couldn't be fixed based on their diagnosis. I come back thinking I'd be refunded, since I paid to what I thought was towards the repair. When confronted, David apologized and shrugged it off, admitting he forgot to mention it. I would've asked to speak to someone else, but a customer was there and I don't like causing scenes. Not only did I pay $150 for a quote advertised as free, they took all of 20 minutes to diagnose something I already knew that it wasn't likely to be fixed. Even on computer repair jobs, we don't do free quotes. We haven't done them in over 20 years. We should have given you a reference to a couple of companies that can recover your data as you are correct, all data can be recovered unless it has been physically modified. Escalating the complaint is your choice. Nothing to do with being mad or angry. People can have disagreements without anger. I feel that you are nitpicking on this "quote" thing. We quote the obvious fix. If you brought in a phone with a broken screen, we quote you the cost of replacing the screen. If you bring in a laptop with a virus, we quote the cost of removing the virus. We don't do the job and then issue a quote. If you were told the amount for the job, that is a quote. _____________________________________ I've never had any major computer issues that I couldn't fix until now. I didn't know how serious data recovery could be at times. I came in for a second opinion, because of your years in business and positive reviews. All I asked was if my hard drive could be recovered. Instead, I feel taken advantage of paying $150 for what I thought would be toward the repair. I never asked them to fix it. My point is the website says free quotes. If they no longer do them, why is it still on the website? I had a wonderful experience at Tailored Data Solutions today! My HP Laptop began acting up after the McAfee Antivirus, that was on it at the time of purchase, expired. As a walk-in, I was concerned about how quickly I could get my computer back. Kevin, the owner, was great. He immediately understood the issues I described and assured me he could fix the problems in just a few hours and at a very reasonable price. That is exactly what he did! Everything is working perfectly! He contacted me by telephone and email in just a few hours. Kevin was very friendly and freely shared advice. My wife dropped her device off on Saturday, September 29th for repair a/o 1130. Kevin promised her a call back (by noting the number on the confirmation sheet she received from him) on my phone for when it will be ready for pick up. We returned to the store shortly after 2 p.m after we have not received a call and the business is CLOSED and they were also closed on Sunday. My wife posted a note on the door Sunday afternoon asking to be called on my phone first thing Monday morning when they opened in reference to her phone. Dianne apparently did not get the note on the door when my wife went in the building Monday morning. Dianne was not even a little bit helpful when my wife went in the establishment to retrieve her device. All my wife wanted to know was why didn't we get a call back from Kevin like he promised. When my wife wanted to speak with him or his spouse in regards to her phone being kept all weekend his spouse was just as rude as Dianne by saying "Oh well, that's not our fault she didn't know we closed at 2 p.m without even trying to ask her husband if he even attempted to make the phone call. We live less than one mile away from the business. It was nothing for us to get there in less than five minutes of them closing for the day. After his wife was heard being unprofessional over the phone, my wife was fed up and left the business without paying with intentions on going back whenever Kevin or his spouse got in so we can clarify why my wife was left without her phone for two days and had to pay full price because of their mistake. Lastly, they pick and choose which military personnel they want to support. My wife went in the establishment in her duty uniform and did not get thanked one time for her service but when she went back to the establishment with another military person Dianne was soooo thankful for him. They changed $30 prepayment. 5 days later I called and they told me they could not fix it. wondering why i should even think or hoping they are going to fix it for me since they are already getting my money. I used this company to fix my son's laptop. It was reported that the hard drive had crashed. I own a HP laptop that I paid about $300 dollars for and to have it repaired was worth the investment. All went well except because I travel quite a bit with work. I could not get back to pick it up. About 8 months later after repairs were done and several phone calls to come and get my laptop, I finally made it in and there it was, fixed and ready to come home. NO additional cost. Great company, patient and long suffering owner. I highly recommend them. read more

I am so thrilled we used your company! I have a MacBook Pro computer and was told by Apple that they didn't think it could be repaired and if so would cost over $800.00! I am on a fixed income and no way was it an option to pay that or purchase a new computer (which is what they wanted me to do). The computer was brought to you and you fixed it quickly and so, so, so less costly! You even fixed the latch on the top of the computer and we had not mentioned that to you! I am just so happy and am recommending your company to everyone! Picked up my laptop after a charging port repair. Opened it to see pressure damage on the screen from someone handling it roughly and a broken exhaust port frame in the back. Took the laptop home to find that there was now hard drive damage that was not present before dropping the laptop off. When I brought these issues to the attention of the employees, I was rudely informed by Mike that I was wrong and that the screen and exhaust port damage was there before I dropped the laptop off. When I brought up the issues with the hard drive, Mike stated that hard drives randomly mess up all the time and flip off "just like light switches". The woman at the desk added that, "people come back after repairs all the time complaining that their hard drives were damaged", seemingly believing that to be supportive of their case rather than damning. Overall, the customer service of Tailored Data Solutions is abysmal. I would only recommend it to those who don't mind the chance of their electronics being mysteriously damaged and who are in to being treated not as paying customers, but as unintelligent inconveniences by our good pal Mike. read more

This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. I went to get the back cover of my laptop fixed because it had popped off the screen from a fall. They said they would have no problem fixing it and gave us a time frame of 3-4 days, well that turned into a week. They then called me and said it was ready, and when I went to go pick it up, and paid $147 for parts and labor, it was still broken. The person that rung me up tried several times to return the money on my card but couldn't. So I had to walk out with a broken computer and out of $147. I called the shop the next day and they said they would order another part, well I hadn't heard anything from them in almost a week in a half so I had to call them and they told me I had a cheap computer and they couldn't find another back for the screen that wasn't already broken. So at this point I asked for my money back because nothing was done to solve the problem. The business owner said he would give me a refund but he had to take the newer back off and give me the older one back. I asked if I could just get the difference back and just keep the part on, because it would probably be more damaged then it was before. We were told no they couldn't do that, they were willing to spend more time in labor just to take off the part and give us all our money back. We came in the store to talk to the owners and we went back and forth. My husband went to pick up the old part to take pictures and the owner tried snatching it out of his hand accusing us of trying to steal it, all the while we had our two children with us.
