If I could give zero stars, I absolutely would. I brought in a polo shirt that just needed a simple hem restitched--nothing complicated. She charged me $10, which I thought was fine, but when I came to pick it up, the stitching was completely crooked. I pointed it out and asked her to redo it straight, and she argued that the original stitching was that way. When I disagreed, she threw a fit but reluctantly agreed to fix it. After redoing it, she tossed the shirt on the counter at me with a rude "here," as if I had caused her some huge inconvenience. The worst part? The hem was still not fixed properly. This was an incredibly frustrating experience from start to finish. What makes it even more disappointing is that I had taken a suit jacket here before and her husband helped me at that time--he was really nice and did a decent job. But this time dealing with her was awful. Terrible attitude, poor workmanship, and zero professionalism. I'll never be coming back and will make sure to tell my family, friends, and neighbors to stay away. This was beyond disappointing for a local business I had once trusted. read more

I have been going to this establishment for as long as I can remember. When Lou actually ran it. Same level of service. Excellent professional alterations. I am very surprised at the negative reviews and why. Seems like some very real issues. I'm sorry, but I have never had even an iota of. problem. (By the way her name is not Lou. Lou was previous owner). All I can relate is my experiences which are all more than positive. In looking at all of the reviews, she gets either a 5 Star or a 1 Star. So many conflicting experiences. Anyway, I will continue to go to Lou's until I experience anything less than I am accustomed to. I'm actually dropping off a few pairs of pants tomorrow. I have never written a negative review ever, but this deserves it. Always polite and smiling, but incompetent and difficult to communicate with Lou. VERY disappointed In the quality of her work would be an understatement. Her work is really shoddy, and she saw it and stood there smiling like it was perfect. She made a cushion cover that I had specifically asked her not to pucker but to pull taut and straight across the cushion. It is expensive high quality imported velvet. There was enough fabric for 2 cushion seats. She only had to make one. but wasted the rest by the way she divided and cut it. Shockingly, she returned the leftover fabric all bundled and scrunched up, not even an attempt of folding it properly. The cushion cover puckers all round the edges, exactly what I did not want and told her I didn't want) and obviously was not measured or cut properly. I was so upset with the shoddy workmanship, that I didn't even realize until I got home, that she had not returned kept my original perfectly good and well made cover. ( I had only wanted a color change, hence the new cover) Will never ever go back there. The price was high, but the quality of work is very substandard at best. Terrible work. No standards whatsoever. Took expensive quality fabric and made made it look like it came from a dollar store or worse. She does not deserve 1 Star, but fortunately for her, the site doesn't allow a double zero star! Terrible , terrible work. read more

Pretty disappointed in Lou's tailoring ability. I went to her shop because I live close by but I do regret the decision as she did a very poor job tailoring my pants. When I first got them back after she 'tailored' them, they were way too tight but I figure okay they would loosen up. Essentially I was worried if I bent my legs the wrong way they would tear. I've worn my suit a total of 2 times and the pants where she stitched is already starting to come undone. I'm honestly worried if I bring them back they'll be even more hacked up. I'm giving her two stars because she brought my jacket in and that seems to fit well. So based on my experience I'd say if you need a very basic tailor job done, maybe like shortening pants, she would be fine. Other than that it may be best to look elsewhere. read more

Lou is an incredible seamstress. I brought in a blouse that I loved but it was just too large. It needed a lot of detail work because I wanted to save the beautiful embroidery along the bottom edge. She was able to move it up and you could not even see a seam line. I used to be a seamstress but it's been so long and I didn't want to mess up this expensive blouse. Gorgeous work! She also but a new guitar strap on my worn out case. Very Talented!!!! I highly recommend Her! read more

I dropped off my sons pants on Monday to get hemmed. Lou said to come back Friday at 3pm. My son and I came back at 3 and she never did the tailoring. She said she was busy. She said come back in a half hour or can you wait. Absolutely unacceptable. She did this to me before where I left a dress to be hemmed and came back 4 days later and she never touched it. I brought in a pair of dress pants for a zipper replacement a couple of months ago. The second time I wore the pants, the zipper broke again. I brought the pants back in, and she claimed that the zipper looked old, and denied ever doing the work in the first place. When confronted with the receipt, she told me that she only guarantees her work for 30 days, and that I would have to pay for a second repair! So, as it turns out, she didn't even replace the zipper, she just charged me $15 to reset it!! Bad work, poor guarantee, no accountability. It's a wonder that she's still in business. read more

I have come here twice and both experiences have been great. Lou (I assume) put new buttons on my husband's and his groomsmen's wedding suits. She also fixed a zipper in a bridesmaid dress I wore. We got everything both times back in a week. I don't remember how much the buttons cost, but the zipper was $20. Lou is friendly and to the point. I rarely leave reviews & I am forced to leave 1 star because -100 is not an option. I am so angry with this place. The lady that "helped me" was Lou, the owner. I took in a dress I WAS planning on using for my gender reveal. All I needed was the shoulder part of the sleeves to be taken in a little bit due to being loose & the bottom hemmed to floor length. I dropped it off Tuesday & we went over specifically want I wanted done to the dress multiple times because I wanted to make sure we were both on the same page. I asked if she could have it done before Thursday 2pm & she said yes. Thursday comes around & I call her earlier around 11ish asking if my dress was ready & if I could stop by earlier because I was in the area sooner than I expected. She said YES. (if it wasn't, I would've waited until 2pm). When I get there, she's sitting down, on her phone & she told me my dress was not ready because she has been so busy (as she was grabbing it to BARELY START ON MY DRESS). She told me to wait 10 minutes & I waited for about 20-25 minutes. She had finally told me she was done & didn't even offer to let me try on the dress so I asked her if I could. The dress was so tight from the top, I felt hunchbacked. The bottom of the dress was uneven & higher on the left back side & the dress still had safety pins & other pins on the bottom right side. & she said it was DONE??? I voiced my concerns & she didn't really have much to say, looking at me all confused... she said to give her an hour to fix it... I come back & the dress seemed just about the same as when I left. I was baffled at the fact that she said "I could add fabric at the bottom where it's shorter, no one will notice because people don't really look at the bottom of dresses" WHAT?? The dress is beige & the skirt portion is one piece of material... it would've definitely been noticeable! She RUINED my dress, my gender reveal is on Saturday. She still had the audacity to charge me & I told her I'm by no means looking for free work but how am I suppose to pay for something that wasn't even don't correctly, let alone ruined???? The dress cannot be fixed to how I originally wanted so now I have to go find a new dress & spend more money on another one. She said she gave me the service for free so what else do I expect she do? Gee idk, for starters you shouldn't have BS'd the work done on my dress. I left that store crying twice today. I was livid. Horrible service & I will NEVER be coming back here. Was told my dress would be ready today. When I arrived I was told 5 more minutes while the lady was working on my dress. Another customer walked in and she stopped my dress, helped the customer to completion and told me it would be an additional 10 minutes. There's a soap opera on TV directly across from the sewing machine. I have to wonder if this is why the work is taking so long to be completed. If you tell someone you will have something ready by a certain time and it is not, a phone call would be nice. read more

Sadly disappointed. I took a pair of slacks there to replace the zipper. I was promptly charged $14. I picked up the pants a few days later and after close examination, and the same zipper problem, I realized that the zipper had not been changed! I went back to the shop and I was told that I was not zippering my pants correctly (!) and that I just needed to 'fold down' the zipper head. I showed her that even with the zipper head folded down, the zipper still opens. She said she would change it for me 'again' at which i bit my tongue and didn't say that it hadn't been changed to begin with. When I returned a few days later, I was promptly informed that I owed $5 more for a hook that I did not ask for. To top it off, you could DEFINITELY tell that the zipper had been replaced this time so much so that the flap was half sewn shut. Never again! read more
