Odered General Tso chicken. All I received was crumbles of hard fried dough which was inedible. Only 3 small pieces had thin dried out pieces of chicken in it which I could not chew. I will never again order from there and will spread the word on how they rip people off. read more

It continues to puzzle me why this area is so lacking good Chinese food. I mean can we have 10% of what we get in Edison NJ or 1% from Chinatown?  By and large, we get only Americanized Chinese food here.  When I saw "Taipei" in this name, I was so excited because I normally associate "Taipei" with Taiwanese cuisine, not the Americanized Chinese food.  Then I saw it's within the Giant Supermarket so my hope dropped. I read the online menu - yep, all Americanized dishes.  Nevertheless, I made an order anyway because my son was really fussing for fried rice and lo mein.  Upon further research, it turns out this is only 1 of the 5 locations in the Harrisburg area; there are 4 more further away.  I found the stall inside Giant Supermarket. It doesn't really stand out as a separate establishment but one of the 3 counters behind the prepared food department ("Meals & Sides") within the supermarket.  There are cooked dishes displayed under the counter just like Panda Express. So technically, you don't have to order online but just order on the spot and get your food right away.  I had an opportunity to chat with the staff as it wasn't busy at the time. They were quite friendly and even offered me a couple of complimentary Chinese donuts.  The food was on par with what I expected for American Chinese dishes, but the serving size was rather generous. For that (the value), the friendliness of its staff, the convenience of its location, and last but not least -- the complimentary donuts, I added one star to my rating.  I did grab a physical copy of their menu and spotted 2 less typical dishes (potentially more authentic kind) that I might want to give a try. So there will be future visits. read more

if I could give zero stars I would. it was literally the worst chinese I have ever had. I wish I was able to return and get my money back. first off the portion for 10 is insanely small. she gave me barely any chicken and the chicken I did get was so tough and overcooked it was practically inedible. noodles were ok. I'm glad we only got one. my daughter almost got one but the lady there refused to allow her to try a piece of meat. I can see why because if I had I never would have ordered. two thumbs way down. Okay, firstly, there's a lack of Chinese food here which is oddly strange. What's even stranger is that this little nook is inside Giant. We got the lo mein and chicken and broccoli and general tsao's. Can't go wrong with those options. Definitely not the best Chinese food I've had, but definitely hits the spot. Will go again soon! I'm writing this review for the Mechanicsburg location at Legacy Park, but couldn't find it on Yelp. I've been to Taipei Chinese Kitchen twice and have had fantastic meals BOTH times. I appreciate the cleanliness of the restaurant and the friendliness of the staff. Mechanicsburg needed good Chinese food and we finally have it! 5 stars for sure! read more

Well we got it again but sometimes things are too good to be true. This time our Chinese donuts, which everyone likes both fresh and leftover were covered in salt instead of sugar. Which is horrible. The general Tsos chicken was good and the bourbon chicken was good. The owner said next time I am in they will make up for the donuts but I am not sure when or what that will be. So down a star for poor salt and sugar quality control. Also on the notes, it doesn't seem like they get read. But that seems common in general with delivery. We got this delivered. It was really good. The portions were great. The general tsos chicken was my favorite I have had anywhere in a very long time the soup was good. The pepper steak was good. I would definitely go back. More broccoli than chicken in the hot and spicy chicken. Also it's only mildly spicy. It is fast and easy though. There is a lot of better Asian food out there so unless your in a hurry I would try another. read more

Simple dishes are the hardest to make. Try the pork fried rice - fragrant, layered, and unassuming from first to the last bite. Everything I have tried has been spot on. Not cloyingly sweet or a salt bomb - the food is a delightful experience and yes, I am talking about Americanized Chinese food. Let me start by saying that the last place I would ever expect to find a good Chinese food is in a grocery store. I was shopping at Giant getting my normal groceries when I walked past this restaurant. Before I could walk past this place, the smell hit me and started getting me really hungry. So, I was looking at their food and their menu, one of the employees offered me a sample, which I declined. I asked a few questions, which were very politely answered. They provided awesome customer service even though I wasn't buying anything at the time. I did not plan on having Chinese food for dinner so I told him that I would be back another time. Well, it turns out that that other time was about 10 minutes later ha ha. I have to say that this was some of the best Chinese food I've had in a very long time. I only purchased simple things such as a Egg Drop soup and General Tso's chicken, but trust me I have ordered these foods from other restaurants and they have been horrible. The bottom line is that if you like Chinese food, I would not hesitate to try this place. I will definitely be going back. Keep up the good work!!!! read more

This is, hands down, the best Chinese food Ive had. The chicken was actually crispy in the General Tso's, not to mention it had more flavor than your typical generic Chinese food joint. The price was unexpectedly low for the vast quantities of food received, and the taste and texture of the food was PERFECT. This review is for the Taipei Chinese Restaurant located in the Bensalem Giant supermarket. Visit date was 11/29/2018 11:32 am. Ate at 11:50 am. I got the Manager Special which is 3 entree/ rice or lo mein. I chose the pork fried rice then picked General Tso, Bourbon Chicken and Boneless Spare Ribs to go on top of the rice. I also ordered an egg roll. The 3 entrees were ok but the rice tasted very stale and as soon as I sank my teeth into the egg roll I could already taste the staleness of that aslo. I am throwing out the rice and the egg roll. Maybe it was a bad day and maybe they do have good days. I am not willing to find out. I will not be going back to this establishment. Horrible waste of my time and money. Now to go brush my teeth. Good luck if you go to this place. read more

So my 1st choice, pork w/vegetables, they said they couldn't make... ? ok confused but ok? Trying to continue w/my order, the girl taking the order couldn't even tell me what my next choice would actually consist of, I just wanted to know what vegetables would be in there, so she asked the chef, and he couldn't tell me either...Really ?? I should have taking that as a red flag! Whatever we chose, when we got home they all looked the same and were completely drowning in sauce. Plus, the pork fried rice was so bland and tasteless, the lomein was overcooked and mushy and the wonton soup was so so salty. After a few bites of each, I threw everything out! ......not cheap either, what a waste! Happy Kitchen was good and 'least they could tell me what they were actually making. I recently went to the new Taipei Chinese Restaurant in the Carlisle Giant on Spring Garden . It says new owners. I got their Bourbon Chicken and chicken fried rice it was great. I was surprised that there were no peas or carrots in the rice, but it was still good. I also got veggie fried rice which was not on there menu they made it quick and no problem. I thought the hot case looked clean and full. The employees were able to answer questions that I had and other customers as well. I will be back! read more
